A blat above the sustenpass. I spotted some sports cars in front and we all had a little bit of fun. It was not that illegal - just a bit faster then expected. Car by Kumschick.ch
Just awesome. A Caterham is my dream car when I win the lottery - totally impractical for everyday family life, but probably the best driver's car there is. Yep, the top speed is respectable, but nothing to write home about. But that acceleration and road-holding - bugger me, it knocks spots off cars costing ten times the amount. Of course, this is what Caterhams are renowned for, but to see it in action is mind-blowing. Thanks for posting. Oh, and just to add - full respect to the driver - he obviously knows what he's doing, and although he was driving very fast, I never once saw an unsafe overtaking manoeuver. Oh that acceleration, I still can't believe it :-)

I just wanted to share that this video made me move to Switzerland a few years ago! I never knew the sort of mountain road Switzerland had, until your videos. After two roadtrips through the country, I finally made the decision to move and I've been here for two years now. Absolutely love it, and this very video was what it all started for me. Thank you!
Literally can't think of a better way to spend a day. Just perfect. Perfect weather, perfect road, perfect views, perfect car. Thanks for sharing this video although it's too short!! (Note to self, music stops at 9:50 👍)
Absolutely beautiful road and scenery, great driving aswell. Im going here in the summer, sadly its in a volvo :) Amazing video! Keep up the great work.
Sh*t Man, that took me back. I used to have a caterham and living in Mallorca. Great mountain passes. I was glued to the screen living your RU-vid footage. Pesky slow traffic. Nice one man!
Wonderful video and thanks for taking us on a half hour ride. I am impressed how you can overcome the Porsche! The Caterham looks like an incredible car.
I did this pass on a camping holiday with my mother on a Fiat 600 Multipla over 65 years ago (those where the days); I believe it took us the best part of the morning! Heck of a view on top, but yo missed all that. Great drive in that great car in that great day. Good trip. Thanks
Nice drive and nice video. Thanks for sharing. This car is really amazing powerful. Once I owned a S7 with a normal Ford Zetec 1800cc engine. Nothing to compare.
+Rudolf Aigner you are right. have driven an zetec once.. it is different but those lower powered sevens tend to bring you fun much faster then such a monster with 240 bhp ;)
Looks like a brilliant drive, what Caterham are made for! A word of caution, I was having a discussion with a Swiss police officer last week. If you overtake over a solid white line and are caught, it's an instant CHF 2000 fine (and loss of license for the Swiss). if you can't pay it on the spot and you are not a Swiss national, its jail.
Beautiful driving, Beautiful Caterham, Beautiful sound, Nice passing moves, Beautiful scenery. The only shame is all the traffic. Nice video! Liked and subscribed.
wow what a really nice video, beautiful scenery and driving roads, amazing car and yes in the best colour (BRG). some good driving also. i had a Tiger kit car back in 2004 and it was a blast, this Caterham is mega quick and makes you a good driver as you have to hold the steering wheel at 10 / 2 position (like you should in any car) all these kit car videos makes me want to build and drive another one someday. the design of this car might be old but why change something that works so wonderfully. such an iconic car. good driving there mate.
Great driving and awesome car. Its like a big kart in driving plesure. I wish i had money to get my hands on one of those. Greetings and thanks for the "ride".
Really a nice video. And mostly, great driving. But overtakings like at 12:00 are soo dangerous! I know this area very well, and there was not a single way you could have known that no traffic was coming along. As a biker, i know how tempting it is to finally ge in front of a slow car. But much too often i have had to swerfe in a split second to give way to a car on MY lane! Stay safe and keep the fun up!
Caterhams aren't impractical, they're the perfect device for transporting a body in comfort and safety across Europe, with a big smile. Porsches and Ferraris always underestimate a Caterham. I've driven two from London to Crete via Switzerland to Venice and Greece and this video was total nostalgia-thank you for making it. You just have to do it and ignore everyone telling you that you're crazy. PS Caterhams, with the top and doors off, sound brilliant in tunnels .
+Johnson968 tell me when you want to work on that list.. i know roads here in switzerland that are just made out of our wettest dreams. have fun with your caterham!
No idea if you still monitor your comments on this channel but just wanted to say a really big thank you, this vid kicked me into a long held idea to go buy a Caterham. She isnt as pretty or as modern as yours (1990 supersport xflow engine) but is a ton of fun, wouldnt have done it if I hadnt seen this video thanks again.
It's hard to see in the video. That's why I asked. I really enjoyed the video. I just stopped breathing and clenched my fists for a moment when I watched that over take :) I felt like something horrible was about to happen.
Steve Rolfe as he said there are large stretches of road that can be seen before going round bends. You can more or less see from the video, actually driving it would be a lot more visible.
+Matt Close Hi Matt (again) Thanks for your comment. Glad you enjoyed the drive. It wasn't that illegal, its just looking a bit faster because of the lens, even when this video is not speed up :-)
Got as far as 7:39 and the blind overtake was enough for me. I truly love these cars but I cannot see any way to justify that. There could have been anything coming head on.
+toyboy bouya it absolutley does! But part of the game are those Semislicks.. When the weather is warm or the tarmac are just heated up enough - they are sticking like a fly on poo.. you have to be reeeeally harsh on throttle to make it slip.
Whats that rattle you hear when you let off gas or accelerate with low(er) rpms? I have that in my car too and am a bit worried about it. Any explenation would be greatly appreciated!
Awesome car, awesome driving, awesome roads!I can only dream of that. I want to build myself a Locost 7 using a D21 Nissan as donor. Not joking btw haha
That's a shame, cause I am already back to work! I did not drive the Sustenpass, cause the weather was really bad during our time in the Alps. Ended up near lake Garda, great roads as well!
Those wing mirrors are they an option from the factory? Normally they are on the crappy door things and vibrate making them next to useless. Also what are those clear plastic parts for?
Gotta say, your life definitely depend on luck at some points, as much as I love the fun of it. Then again, I really hope you do see ahead further than me through the camera. I've been there once on a motorbike, can't say I'd ride it if I knew you were coming the opposite way.
That's what I was thinking lol like this guy is gambling his life while driving. Looks like a blast, but there were some time I was like "how can he see around that corner, or did he say F$%k it and just roll the dice." Crazy!
@@ex0gen I must admit I didn’t watch the whole video but on some of the overtakes on the corners I saw, you could see far around the corner before you got to the corner, so would still be a safe overtake, but it’s still a horrible feeling overtaking when you can’t see, even if you know nothing is coming
Great Great Great video. I love this car. Chris Rhea sings about it on his Auberge album. Speaking of music, not to de characterize your video, I'd rather hear just the engine and no music.
any plans for new stuff this year? these are simply the best vids of mountain roads out there, but with time i know almost every turn :D top driving, great car, lovely colors, good sound and music.
