Three football fields in length. One of the finest and one of the largest pipes organs on Earth. On set of 61 pipes are positioned horizontally, far in the back of the Cathedral high above the floor and under the 10,000-piece stained glass Rose Window. They are known as the State Trumpets, patterned after those played by trumpeters of England, but these are voiced on 50-inches of wind pressure, the loudest set of pipes on Earth and easily play solo melodies heard above the thunderous musical roar of the remainder of the Organ's pipes in the front of the cathedral, above the Choir.
@@2468HOTROD That is correct, the building is 601ft in length and at 141 ranks (the 10 new ranks for the nave organ are prepared for and not installed as yet 11/11/19) and albeit my favourite organ in NYC, it's NOT of the largest in the world as right there in NYC is St. Bartholomew's (V/225) and my second favourite in NYC, Riverside Church (V/206 or 208). The brand new Dobson organ at St. Thomas 5th Avenue is as large as the organ at St. John the Divine if not a rank or two larger.
it's an Anglican cathedral just like the English cathedrals are. Just like the cathedrals in Australia or Wales. The. Episcopal Church is not "affiliated" with the Anglican Communion: It's a part of it.
Beautifal church. Im a proud armenian christian. Armenian christian is just like catholuc, because were similar. God bless whoever reads this message. In Jesus name, Amen. 💖🙏🙏➕
Cathedral of St John is the largest Anglican(as in religious movement) Cathedral in the world. Its construction started in 1892 and it is still unfinished. It is nicknamed as St John the Unfinished :)) The Cathedral hosts concerts and musical performances. For more about New York: [some editing of description is suggested for clarification.]
