“What else do you need?!” Charlie Rose often confuses being a blow hard with being perceived as a serious journalist. Mrs. Deneuve is a joy to listen to. Thank God, she saves this interview.
Charlie can be awesome but I often find myself wishing he would just shut up. How many times did she say it wasn’t about “suffering” but he continued to suggest suffering and refused to allow her to articulate her own feelings. So annoying.
Catherine is known in France to speak very quickly and swallow some of the words (even in her movies) that's why she is great in comedies for example ("Le sauvage", "La vie de château"... ).
Charlie was expecting this woman to be shallow. What a surprise! She feels. She frowns. She's disappointed. SHE'S DEEP. How could she play those parts so well if she were otherwise?
In another interview he asked if 8 Femmes had catfights and said he was disappointed that there were none. Imagine 8 women actually working together. Charlie Rose is such a pig.
From México: What a straightforward way of speaking: thanks Deneuve! Near the end she says: "too soon to see you" hahahahahahah love her being that honest!
"What would of you had done if you weren't an actress?" "I don't know have kids, get married, get divorced." That was an interesting quote, probably just an observation of human behaviour, not ones intentions. Towards the end I think Charlie wasn't able to grasp what she was articulating, the things Cathrine said she observed in life that are obstacles to happiness is the actual pursuit of happiness in today's world isn't as simple as it once was, not in a material senese but rather one human to another.
Catherine Deneuve is true beauty. No need for plastic surgery. Hollywood doesn't realise that beauty remains with age. Catherine is elegant , wise and effortlessly sexy
*i've never listened to a more honest, self-aware, non-biased self appraisal. the way she admits to the advantages of her beauty & how she is looked upon for her 'blondeness' is so refreshing. this is the 1st interview i've heard & now i love her even more. she is every bit of the elegant, feminine & intelligent lady in my imagination...& MORE!!!* 🌟🥰🏆
🏆 THE BEST INTERVIEW CATHERINE DENEUVE EVER GAVE IN THE USA ... (I've seen some of her earlier interviews like with Johnny Carson and they were TERRIBLE... she even had Johnny raising his eyes wondering what was this woman trying to say... But here.. SHE WAS VERY INTELLIGENT SOUNDING AND ENGAGING 👍
Enjoyed this up until the last 10 minutes where Charlie pressed her too hard. I get it, feel the same, have utmost respect for this woman, as a woman and a great actress.
I felt the same way about the last ten minutes. Sometimes, these conversations become so deep that we forget that they are still interviews and Charlie has certain boxes he needs to check. She answered his questions in a way that he did not realize, so he believed she was the one who misunderstood and it became very awkward
I wasn't not very familiar with her but I really enjoyed her perspective. 23:50 and 25:35 she gets it, and Charlie can't seem to accept her view of HER life. I agree with her that she has melancholy eyes, her eyes don't smile.
LA VI ANOCHE POR TLT UN CANAL PÚBLICO EN VENEZUELA, ESTOY ADMIRADO POR LA BELLEZA DE ESTA MUJER Y POR LA NARRACIÓN DE ESTA HISTORIA...DEFINITIVAMENTE UN CLÁSICO DE NUESTROS TIEMPOS.
Belle de Jour is a thoroughly creepy little film and has no reason to exist other than to enable creepy little men to ogle the young Deneuve in her underwear. Not the least, the notoriously creepy Mr. Rose. The film certainly has no redeeming value, social or otherwise. However, Ms. Deneuve is graceful and intelligent and a pleasure to listen to.
You have to be an adolescent to enjoy 'Belle de Jour'. I did find it fascinating when I first saw it but now it seems silly. The Americans probably think it's sophisticated, sexy. They do not see that Severine is a very sad person, only content when her husband, who she loves, is confined to a wheelchair. She has been sexually abused as a child, can only 'enjoy' sex when forced - what's sexy about that?
