@@ajordan1976 Actually I know the relationship continued while he was on remand waiting for trial. After he was convicted, he vowed to appeal said conviction maintaining his innocence throughout. Maybe Kats family talked some sense into her. At this point I know not how the relationship stands... In the face of all the evidence although circumstantial (no confession) on the weight of probabilities he is likely guilty and it's a poor boyfriend choice. Although Jonas Reichert claims I am stupid; women need a screening tool before being intimate with undesirable characters. We cannot assume all is well. I think Kat was shocked at her own apparent lapse in judgement. She was only 20 at the time and if he had not gone to jail she would have continued the relationship wondering one day in 10 years' time, being broke with children to support and in a domestically violent situation where it all went wrong. The warning signs are there. No.1 PATHOLOGICAL LYING.

To be fair, she clearly knew she had cameras on her. That is evident in the way she also play acts when taking out the deodorant for example. All of this behaviour shows how immature she was. And I don’t mean that in a negative way. She was only 20, with a very childlike, naïve and trusting nature. She truly didn’t believe her boyfriend was capable of such an evil deed.

And then 19:15 when she sniffs her armpit and makes a _'yikes'_ face. That gave me a chuckle, too.

She knows she's being watched and recorded. I wish she hadn't played to the camera. It's a little off putting.

Yeah she’s kinda on bc she’s so different at the trial. I didn’t even know this was the same person tbh. I’m late watching this trial. It’s so sad. He’s a compulsive liar. He just ruined everyone’s life bc he couldn’t be honest with himself or anyone else.

I don’t think so because the relationship, context, and motivations are completely different. An ex is very different from parents whose house you live in and whose money you depend on for every facet of life, especially when it comes to who believes what is said. It’s pretty easy to say an ex is bitter and spreading rumors or misunderstood something, it’s not easy to say that about parents you cohabitate with. All of this assumes, however, that Cat would even feel the need to say anything about it at all. It’s clear she loves him and from the way she answers some of the questions it’s clear she’s covering for him without even realizing it. She might have been the one person who would have accepted him regardless. It’s sad because Someone as manipulative as Chandler would see someone like Cat as easily manipulated. Again, from her answers, it’s clear he already laid the framework for the gaslighting necessary to justify many of his deceptions. On top of that, killing her would offer no advantage at all as he would not be able to know who she had already told. Chandler killed his parents because he knew them well enough to know they would have kept his lies to themselves in the short term and that he would have complete control over the narrative if he acted within the window he did. I haven’t seen his information and I am not a psychiatrist, but Chandler’s utilitarian actions and the dominance of his desire to project a facade that directly mirrors the life he believes he should have, screams sociopath to me. It’s why he is immediately off-putting, why his emotions never seem genuine, and how he was able to manipulate Cat so effortlessly.

I don't think he would. But I'm sure no one ever expected him to murder his parents, cut them to pieces and burn whatever he didn't dump elsewhere in the fire place.

I think he's similar to those people who kill their wives or kids. They kill the people closest to them because they get in the way. So she totally could have been the one

​​@@HowlingWo1f Actually the phone calls and texting were all before the trial (before victim impact statements). When the trial was over, so was the communication between them. She was finally able to see & hear the facts, after the evidence came out, all of the horrific photos, timelines & the unraveling of his lies ect. Her Mom said she's endured a lot of hate because of misinformation on top of other things. I just hope the families & friends affected are able to find some peace ❤🙏

I don’t disagree that she has suffered tremendously, but But at the time of the jail calls she knew very well the situation of what happened Being that she was involved in the investigation. The fact that she even mentioned that she’s the only one that talks to him speaks volumes. She may have been under the spell of a narcissist and dealing with our own codependency And I hope she’s at a point where she can find peace, but the jail calls were extremely damning to her as a human being.

I actually really like her at first In these interviews she seems really sweet and kind, But yes it was definitely cringe listening to the Jail Call’s after the bodies were already found on her family’s farm. If that’s sick Apple Watch capable of doing it to his parents, he was very likely capable of doing it to her. She’s Extremely lucky. And hope she’s in a better place moving on happy in her life.

This one is incredible. From the opening statement of the prosecution to the verdict reading, and the interrogations. Make sure you watch the entire trial, especially the prosecution’s opening statement… it was possibly the best opening I’ve ever seen.

@@lizgander9172 There is a very different opening, by a prosecutor who seems really young, concerning a gang driveby shooting that killed a little boy in a car that just happened to be driving past. If you search on “Toddler Murder Prosecution Opening Statement” you will see it. The crime was complicated in that there was a lot of action by a lot of people in a moving crime scene, and a convoluted chain of physical evidence (which hangs like a little chain of lights on the story she unreels in her opening) The way she told the story of the “yellow house” gang is riveting. She uses the most ancient storytelling techniques - rhetorical skills I didn’t even think existed any more. Her later presentation of physical evidence and how she ties the chain of evidence all together is impressive too.

@@blueneptune825 She’s obviously nervous like anybody would be. Maybe she even had some suspicion about Chandler hiding things from her. But I get a sense of her being genuine and honest from this. Her body language (for the most part) is open, expressive, and engaged with the detectives. She answers quickly, stays on topic concerning the questions being asked, doesn’t meander or stall with irrelevant details while trying to construct a narrative. I can’t imagine the hell she’s been through during the whole process. A lot has changed in her life between the initial interviews and the trial where she had to testify against a guy she had been in love with. There is such a stark difference in the feeling I get from watching her demeanor and the many interrogations I’ve watched with guilty suspects. I hope she finds a way to heal from this. And everyone else affected by Chandler’s incredibly selfish and dimwitted decisions on that day. She seems like such a grounded, friendly, and expressive person and I can’t see what she ever saw in a guy with the personality of a door stop.

@@sorryplease5071 She screenshot the Saturday morning riverside hike. Even the app shows it as an area of no roads of paths. This was when he had apparently told her he was going to stay home doing “chores”. There was a reason she made and stored that screenshot. At the very least it gave the lie to his “numb legs” semi-cripple story. And that story was the whole rationale for missing out on the SpaceX jib and the big house in Florida Cat had picked out. That meant a lot to her: there is a moment of pure grief when the Spacex job is mentioned. (Not one of the times she tells them she is a very emotional person or blows her nose, she suppresses it in an adult manner.) so anyway, if she was completely clueless, by Saturday morning she knew he was spinning a giant lie about the injury and the plum job. (Apart from the fact he is such a bad actor he can casually cross his numb legs ankle on knee. Apart from claiming that he had a lifetime prognosis after being sent home from a short ER visit.). She is smart enough to be studying pharmacy, and complete a pharmacy tech course in the summer, and her word count is stellar. No way did she let that huuuuge anomaly pass in silence.

so you credit her _mom_ for Cat being an "amazing person"...... but you don't *_blame_* Chandler's parents for him being an awful person, do you??? When she hugged Pooh Bear and then starts talking about her day, not knowing the boulder that’s about to be placed in front of her 😢. I think they do that though as they noticed she already seemed anxious they didn’t want to immediately add to that by telling her right then and there what happened and what they found. At least that’s what I think as she talks more she seems to be slightly distressing.

He used her like he used his parents. He was a very spoiled son.

He was cute.

He looks pretty decent. His lies made him ugly. If he had tried and bettered himself instead of making such a horrible decision, he’d be a good catch. But his shame of deception got better of him and at the end of the day he’s a liar. It’s good she got out before she found out his lies or else she’d be gone the same way his parents went.

Keep in mind, Chandler was an Eagle Scout, captain of the Swim Team, a lifeguard, etc. He was supposedly smart, getting a degree in a respected, well-paying field, and of course, was HIRED BY SPACE-X. What’s not to love? /s. This sociopath managed to fool his parents into paying his tuition for almost 2 years, while living at home with them, claiming he was going to school and working at an insurance company remotely. He never had any money, and to avoid growing up and getting a job, he fell down some stairs and wore a neck brace, and was ready to start wearing a colostomy bag!

Since I stumbled on chandeliers Prison phone calls on YT and they are all KAT And her mom and they are still believing him because one of the phone calls hes speaking about his retrial case that he doesn't want to say much about trying to not hurt his case. ?? I highly doubt he will be in a court room ever again. If so i can't wait to hear the arguments Probably looking loopholes to get him out of this missunderstanding that he got himself into

I know! I feel the same way. I can't believe how some people think she had something to do with it. Shes very forthcoming, like the prosecutor says, she was vomiting information. I think she's just quirky and maybe a little naive. Poor girl has been through alot.

It could be what you say, or, she could have planned the killings and executed them through Chandler so expertly that even he had no idea she was doing it. If that is true, then she got away with some serious stuff here and Chandler's appeal might have some merit, because it turns out we're living in Fantasy Land.

The difference between her and i is at the 1/2 hr mark i would have been clued in that chandler was the person in question. I would have stopped talking and said whats up or i am leaving.

You can tell she's such a gentle soul. Chandler was so desperate not to lose her...He ended up down a path that lead to life in prison. The truly sad/ironic thing is if he was just honest with her. She would have probably forgive him/ stayed with him.

@@tylerd1297 I did...but again don't discount the power of denial. A lot of people who knew him couldn't believe he'd do such a thing...before the trial. But suspecting her that doesn't jive with Cat cooperating with police, and with her making the connection between the Snapchat map with the place his mother's remains were found. Maybe she really wanted to believe he was innocent. Can you blame her? I had heard that she cooperated like she did because she knew she and Chandler had to cooperate to allow the police to rule them out. She did exactly that. Chandler instead got caught in a lot of lies, and tried to answer as little as possible. This was not apparent to her before the trial. The one thing we do know for a fact, though, is that she was innocent. The police had footage of the comings and goings from Chandler's house 24/7, because of the neighbors. Nothing she said was contradicted by the facts, or by her own testimony. She was constantly on her phone, snapping pictures like a 20-year-old girl would...and it proved she was where she said she was. One interesting point though, is that it seems to me Chandler was trying to frame Cat and her family for the murders. I wonder what else he had planned to further that.

@@Ocrilat last sentence interesting, never thought about it that way. You would just think the police would have told them that dads torso was found in the exact area he was acting suspicious around. Maybe they didn't divulge that to avoid leading them but that's a crazy level of denial if they knew.

@@tylerd1297 I heard the phone calls and read the chats. Chandler had convinced them to not ask any questions because the lawyers knew the "real" story and told him not to talk about it with anyone. No clue what he actually told his lawyers but it was apparent during the trial he had lied to them also and destroyed any case they could have made for him once they also realized the truth that their client was the murderer.

This is a soft interrogation. There's no reason to make her feel uncomfortable and intimidated. Lots of departments use these for interviewing victims, children, etc. They are asking pretty prying questions (sex life) and tiptoeing around the idea that they think Chandler did it. They don't want her to feel like she needs to be guarded to protect him. I don't think she has any doubt that he is innocent at this point. They don't want her thinking that the cops are railroading her poor, innocent boyfriend and then stop talking, start trying to protect him by withholding or explaining away potentially suspicious information, which is something that the defense team would jump all over.

On the same video is Chandler's car ride (they put him in a different car to Cat) where the camera perspective is entirely on him sitting, or more accurately *squirming',* in the back seat. As they pulled away from the house there are four squad cars, and he sees officers going into the house and around the back! "Officer? Wh, wha, wha, what are they doing?" I'm fascinated by this case and I'm watching the whole trial now.

You know what was even more revealing was going through her social media photos and artwork interests. Satanism, goth, gore, blood and guts, and witchcraft. Interesting to note, when asked if she thought he was involved in their disappearance, she mentions body parts and dissection in part 2 of this interview.

I also have sons, and I hope the same. Any man would be lucky to have someone as loving, loyal, trusting, hardworking, generous and beautiful as she is.💜

My dear, is nothing to apologize anymore, it takes awhile to understand things later after the detective present everything, trust me they look all over. I am extremely thankful to all the personal from the sheriff's office who took all the time and look for everything. Thank you for your nice note.

I think it might be a normal response. If my husbands parents went missing while he lived with them, he loves them and adores them but that would be a question my friends would either ask or would be brought up in wondering what could have happened. And she believed everything he said about school, SpaceX...all of it. You don't think you're going to be dating or married to someone who could do that. Especially in such a conservative style home. And he was awkward but I bet no one believed he would or could do that. That spacex comment she made was just like no he's got his whole life ahead of him. Based on what came out in trial and their prior txts and ways they act toward each other, he just lied to her about everything and his parents and he's fkin psycho and killed his parents.

I find her prescient description of bloody dismemberment a spine-chilling leap from “I hope they’re OK” and “If Chandler had done something would you cover for him?” And her Jeffrey Dahmer quips in each of her interviews is also rather jarring, both for the contrast between those references and her courtroom grief, and for the creepy prescience again: Dahmer also being a head cook.

It is so strange that you find her expressiveness natural: to me it is full of artifice. Isn’t it weird how people can percieve things so differently? Her half hour mime at the start, playing up to the camera like an eight year old was just excruciating. She is different with each person, even sometimes in the presence of others. Listen to the call from Mitchell. He is right then at the cabin searching for his missing parents. Obviously he has not been able to get through to his brother (Chandler had no phone with him while next door being interviewed.) The call lasts just long enough for Mitchell to identify himself and for a brusque hi from her, then the call “drops”, as she puts it. She just calmly puts the phone away in her bag! And carries on with whatever else they were talking about. Think about it….

everyone in his life was stunned when they found out. cat was the only one actively collecting evidence on him. i don't think anyone involved was naive except maybe the victims - chandler's lies were absolutely bonkers - or chandler himself, for believing he could get away with it. she's not naive. she just trusted the man she loved.

She did though she opened the box....in her second interview with a lawyer present she provided police with a saved snap of chandler snap chat deep in a forest. She provided the location we have all come to learn was the farm they all visited. However chandler had professed he could barely walk. There he was smack dab in a lie.

Why did she make a screenshot his location? Because his poor crippled “numb legs” (did he have his “hole in foot” yet?) supposedly couldn’t possibly make a hike in pathless terrain like that. And the “nerve damage” was his reason for not taking up the (nonexistent) SpaceX job. Which I think had believed existed. So if she was completely unsuspecting about the absent parents, she had anyway caught him in a giant lie. That is why she stored that image. Why else?
