Also does not appear to be pre-recorded. Very rare on live TV performance back in those days (Even when artists wanted to perform live they would generally force the issue)
this woman wrote "runaway (U&I)" "I kissed a girl" "toxic" "can't get you out of my head" after all those years, and they become top hits. she is so talented.
@@tomwhite916 Glad to have helped. Right from their debut album and also non-album tracks too. Hope you enjoy them! “Holy Water” and “Runaway (U & I)” bring 2 of my personal faves and then “Emoji” which is definitely crazy 😂
This woman was calling out this BS 30 years ago and it was glossed over. Nothing but respect for her. It probably cost her her career as a performer in the States. Be proud, Cathy, you called out those creeps. Big love from your English home boy. ❤
I admire Cathy for this interview. Just because she wears cat-suits and sings "touch me all night long", doesn't mean to say she'll just jump into bed with you! Good for her for being so young and not taking any shit. 👌🏼
She chose dignity, respect, honesty and all those real good values we don't see today. At such a young age, she had strength, conviction and determination to follow through and stand up to what is wrong.
It was very uncomfortable to hear what she went through. We have heard these sort of rumors about artists being pressed to do these sort of things. Quite sad and disgusting but she made the right choice.
Entitlement takes many forms, and is ugly in all of them. She’s got talent and does a great show (I don’t think I could sing while dancing, ever). Don’t know why others couldn’t just be happy to have her as part of their tour without acting like she should sleep with them (or want to). Sad, those tours all missed out, thanks to their selfishness.
@Ispeth I've heard her music, but not of her. I have the greatest respect for her now also. I've only just seen her "Touch Me" video last month after hearing it on the radio a zillion times. I thought that it was recorded by Madonna.
Important note here !!!!...............Cathy had a very intense and special kind of sensuality. She sounded , looked and moved different than anyone on the scene at that time. I won't mention names here , but one can only imagine some of the artists that were gobbling up the charts at the time that took a much "tackier" approach to their music and stage appeal. Cathy was a classy music machine ! She combined sophisticated , modern dance moves with hot but beautifully executed arrangements. Her emotionally charged songs were mesmerizing too. Take for example , "moments of Love", ( If you listen to her in the opening, you can almost hear the sophisticated shades of Bacharach in the late sixties ) so gorgeous and dreamy. Her combination of bold movement and "techno-esque" club sounds was something that took dance music to a whole new level in the early 90's. Although Cathy continues to work behind the scenes creating hits for other artists, I love seeing video's like this that remind me of the talent that still inspires the young ( I hope, anyway ! ). What really strikes me most in closing, is that the most important thing she gave us was this strong , but still feminine sense of women's empowerment. And that I JUST LOVE !!!!
Ok listen up: She was underrated even though for awhile this lady was all over the place and everywhere. She was a complete package. Fine. Can sing. CAN DANCE HER BUTT OFF! And knew how to play to the camera. Had great stage prescence. Her 1st album was the bomb. Cathy moved on to great success in other areas as well.
In Britney's defense, she pushed hard for Toxic to be a single while the record company wanted to play it safe. It's her favourite song that she has been associated with. I heard the demo, Britney didn't bring much to the recording with vocals. What you hear most of all is Cathy's vocals. But good on Britney for having faith that it would be a hit.
Real music is live. You can hear the gasps, the catching of the breath. She is juggling the dance moves and the singing. Raw is real! These days, you wont have something like this. This is rare nowadays.
This is Singing! This is the music I miss! This is Pop Music! No Auto, No Nothing Just Vocals And Backtrack. And she's singing from a Dynamic Microphone, you are getting pure vocal. I was 15 when she came out with this I'm
I once met Cathy Dennis in Oklahoma City at a record store appearance she was doing. She was in town on the Milli Vanilli tour. When I told her how excited I was to get to see her and D-Mob perform that night she got a sad look on her face and said she was leaving the tour and wouldn't be at the show. She said she couldn't say why but that I would find out in the future. All this time I figured it was because of the Milli Vanilli lip sync controversy that later came out and that she didn't want to be involved with that whole thing. Now I see this video that explains it all. She was sooooo sweet and kind to me that day. Hardly anyone came to meet her so we just talked the whole hour she was there. I was so glad that she went on to become such a successful performer. Milli Vanilli totally sucked that night by the way. I left after 2 songs. Screw those guys.
I was and am a big fun i was the one buying her records even as a teenager i knew she was special superb voice amazing dancing and sooooooooooooooooooo talented she was and is in a class of her own.
Too Many Walls is one of the most beautiful videos I have ever seen. She demonstrated her poise and elegance and so glad she made the right personal choices during her career.
Beautiful, elegant and talented woman. I thought she disappeared from the airwaves much too soon. I enjoyed hearing her beautiful voice on the radio and seeing her in the music videos. Wowsers! beauty, talent and sophistication in one package. The Kartrashians and Miley siphillis can't even come close. The 90's were a great era.
Amazing!!! Her voice is almost one to one identical with the one in her records! She can sing live and dance in that time - incredible! I don't think today artists are able to do this!
Not a whole lot of performers can dance and sing at the same time. She couldn't sing word for word at the pace to keep up with the dancers but still she was able to do both! I hope that she's putting out some music in the future. I miss watching her videos and listening to her songs. One of the 🐐 voices in music!
She's still writing and singing today but not solo. Have you heard the tracks she has either written and / or performed for Galantis? Their most recent album "Church" has a lot of Cathy on it and there is more to come with their 4th album.
Wow, she's actually singing here and not lip syncing! Omg and that head sideways head bob that makes me crush hard on her!!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😀😀😀😀😀💗💗💗💗 gosh she's SO CUTE!!! I love that brutal honesty about Milli Vanilli 😂🤣😂🤣
I remember being floored the first time I heard "Just Another Dream" in 1991! I've been in love with the sound of Cathy Dennis' voice ever since. Watching her live here...goodness, dare I say she may even sound better live than on recordings! The best of her music is utterly timeless.
Garland Cary Agreed and thanks for the comment. Have you heard the stuff she’s been doing over the last 20 years under cover for other artists? Totally amazing work.
Clayton Allen It’s true. She hated promotional work - more so the interviews. She’s a very private person but I respect her for doing what she did at such a young age
@@UnofficialCathyDennisFanClub She sure is a very private person. Private enough never to have got married or have kids. So private that she now has no one to pass on her genes to. One hundred years from now, one thousand years from now, no human on this planet will be carrying her genes. She will not have left any genetic footprint on the planet. Sad, just sad. That is the price of privacy. That is the price of hating/not trusting the rest of mankind. That is the price of thinking you're better than everyone else. It's a _huge_ price to pay. From this clip alone, you can see how another human being (man _or_ woman) would have been turned off by her arrogant attitude and aloof mannerism. Sad, Cathy Dennis, sad. If you ever change your mind, babe, I'm here for you. You can watch me shower. Then we can get it on. My stiffy juice is _so_ powerful that even a 50 year old woman can get impregnated. Learn to change yourself, Cath. It's for your own good.
Music of the late 80's early 90's was great!! Cathy Dennis and Lisa Stansfield are great. I was lucky to meet Cathy Dennis in Japan in 1991, talented, sweet personality, and HOT.....
Probably because she had morals and wouldn't sleep with powerful men on command. Just like Mira Sorvino stopped getting work because she wouldn't sleep with Harvey the Hutt.
I've been listening to Cathy Dennis since Jan 1990 everybody knows when we hear Real vocals Real talent , Cathy D is a force that is beyond anything today from her Beauty to her voice when she talks is so gorgeous Cathy and Olivia newton- john can bring a skyscraper down that's how much they command they are feminine, gorgeous, beautiful , of any girl today they can't compete these two ladies are what true ladies should be ......
Ok, this is the first time I watch this video. I am a big Cathy Dennis fan; but I am so impressed and shocked at the same time. She simply and bravely exposed those guys´ indignant behavior years ago before the MeToo movement. What impresses me the most is how the host changed the topic drastically, like...ok who cares!! OMG!!!
Bought her cassette in the early 90s when I was a young teenager. Her look is perfect and its her signature from her hair dance moves, clothes. Very attractive, beautiful. 👏🏻💙🎤🎼
Wow, Cathy has an ADORABLE voice! So cute! I also liked the question, “Who poured you into that outfit, Cathy?” Indeed, she fills out her catsuit nicely!
I love Cathy and think she's very special. A gorgeous girl, hugely talented writer, great singer, such a sweet voice, fantastic sense of style, and just an all-round great pop act with some fantastic songs! Even stuff like the Pop Idol theme tune is seriously, seriously good. I must admit, back in the day, I kind of took her for granted, but I appreciate her all the more now we're living in this dystopian world where wholesomeness and beauty seem to have been banished! I just want to go back in time to 1991 and stay there!
Thanks for your comment. It is clear she had had enough of all the promotion and interviews, so she found more success writing songs for other artists. She has written some of the biggest hits to date but her solo material will always be timeless. She is still working to this day and will remain my all-time favourite. 😀
Got to remember... she hated fame. And interviews. She is a song writer. And amazing at it. She's sat at home now with her feet up and a cup of tea living her best life. 😊
