My cat had max play time as a kitten, and still liked attacking feet. He'll still do it now sometimes, usually when I'm up late at night and he wants bed cuddles. "Hey, mum, it's bed time."
Man you are the Sigmund Freud of cats. I thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. It’s easy to tell how much you love cats and it almost feels like you are one of them but teaching humans how to handle it. Respect
My young kitty shows us she wants to play by literally bringing a toy to us. She'll also hide behind a sheer curtain and "surprises" us by jumping at us through the curtain. We both know to make a sound indicating that she definitely surprised us and we had NO idea she was there (she's part Maine Coon, she's really big & doesn't hide well 😂) and she LOVES it.
My cat used to do this a lot as a kitten, and one day I thought "what if he is trying to play with me exactly the way he would with other kittens?", so I started playing hide-and-seek-chase with him, and it turned out to be exactly what he wanted. It's pretty adorable how mad he gets when he can't find me.
My kitten has about a dozen ping pong balls he loves to chase around the house, but it is incredible how quickly they all get lost and he can't find them. So he and I go around with a yard stick looking under the sofa, chairs, behind bookshelves, etc. He looks under while I look under and fishes his paw under things just like I do. I must be acting like a cat looking for prey. Once a ball is found, it gets lobbed across the room, he plays like crazy for about the 15 seconds it takes for him to lose it again. Almost wish I had an empty room with nothing in it so he could continuously play till he's tired. I wish my cat would play fetch with me too.
@@amywalker7515 Sometimes cats push things under the sofa to then retrieve them, it's like a mental excercise. If you dedicated a whole room for him and a ball, he would get bored almost instantly, because retrieving the ball from under the sofa is also fun for cats.
@@amywalker7515 Put the ball on the end of a string and throw it around. Then you can just pull on it to retrieve it. Also, just as cat is about to get it, you can yank the string and the ball bounces out of reach. Cat loves that!
@@eerrm1 if you do put the ball on the end of a string, just make sure you're always around when the cat is playing with it and put it away when you're not able to supervise. Otherwise the cat could eventually chew or rip the string off, which can cause serious intestinal issues that sometimes result in surgery or worse.
@@kukui79 We had a cat that was inclined to chew off string from anything it encountered. That meant threads from frayed clothing, shoelaces, carpet edges etc. until it went to the vet. The cost was going to be very high with a certainty that the cat would not stop eating strings. The cat had to be put down. If a cat will eat string, you can’t stop it.
I have a half blind, half deaf, half feral kitten. He is the last of the bunch. And I am delighted he has found my lap. I am also happy to have found your videos.
My first house cat, Zorro, arrived when I was 65 years old. Previously, I had dogs in the house, a cat in the barn, and horses in the corral. Zorro is an eye-opener. Your videos are very helpful to me. Zorro is a rescue from a high-kill shelter, we got him when he was 4 months old. He has some damage to his spine and his gait is not perfect... so I won't add him to our barn cat situation. He is incredibly affectionate (at 10 months old now) but his play-biting drives me NUTS! Thanks for explaining how natural cat behaviors play out within a confined (home) environment. I learn something new every day
Yes! My current foster cat needs a lot of attention of she will pounce and bite. I'm gonna send this to whoever adopts her, on top of all the explanation and info we usually give. Bc when she IS worn out, she's an amazingly calm and affectionate pet. It just takes a lot to wear her out, her prey drive is very strong.
I think cats are very teachable if you bond with them first. My kitty loves me, so if I express disappointment or sadness when she does something wrong, she gets it. And adjusts her behavior. She’s soooo wonderful!
Our cat does this exact thing. When I see this face and body language, I know he's about to pounce. He actually LOVES when you chase him at this point. When Tucker was sort of turning around to go, that's where I would slap my knees and go "I'M GONNA GET YOU" and he will sprint full speed out of the room. But be careful, because he will then turn around and start chasing you. It's a fun game of back and forth in which he gets to use up some of the energy and he never actually feels the need to pounce.
Looking for attention. I have been a cat mommy for years and I know! If kitty is behaving in this way, they are living breathing thinking beings and they are asking you to notice what they are saying, they are communicating. Hungry, not well, territory breach etc. It may not be about them, it may be what they are picking up about yourself
My sisters cat used to hide and then pounce on our legs. We used to affectionately call him “demon spawn.”He was less than a year old so when she got another kitten and he had a little sister to play with, it completely stopped. Now he’s the perfect angel cat and takes all his play aggression out on his sister
My cat is SO CHILL. She never attacks, she just sleeps, I only gets scratches when I know I did something wrong. She’s so sweet and lovable even though she loves not being held and cuddled
My wife goes through the same thing every morning while fixing a cup of coffee. She moves around the kitchen and gets jumped. I've noticed that our tuxedo (Pepper) often goes for the foot that is momentarily stationary while walking. Cats are very intelligent.
My cat is so precious! She isn't aware of how strong she is so when we play fight she always leaves deep scratches that take days to heal. But shes always so apologetic, she curls up on my stomach and purrs. Even at 9 years old she acts the same as when she was a kitten. She's an adorable lynx point tabby with a brown nose and the cutest little pink beans! She was smaller than her siblings and she's super quiet but she makes up for it with her sharp claws, being amazing at hunting despite never having gone outside, and an amazing personality!
Thank you everyone for your helpful comments. I don’t remember my childhood cats being aggressive but I’m beginning to better understand my own darling cats behaviour. I just need a suit if armour!
My cat does that when I'm sitting, when she does I usually find a toy to play with her, and I love your videos, I grew up with cats, but I've learned a lot from watching your videos
My cat give me love bites - they're always gentle - she bites my arm and runs off or attacke my leg while I'm walking, bats it with both paws but keeps her claws in, gives it a bite and zooms off. She knows what she;s doing - it's all play. She's a young calico that just showed up one day and stayed.
This is so helpful! I work from home, and every morning I go to my home office, my cat jumps at my legs and tries to play scratch at me. Drives me crazy!
I so appreciate your videos. My cat Babe...indoors.....used to be feral. Sometimes she does a gentle love bite thing. Once I learned not to overreact...I stopped pulling away. And she just gently bites down and releases. I pet her and we do fine. Now I play more with her. She and Two Kitty have many outdoor views of bird feeders and other cats. I so love my individual cats. Thks Jackson for your thoughtful helpful videos. Babe says Thks....also! Ahna
Thank you for this video! My 11 month old kitten loves to bite my ankle especially when I go into the shower lol, so I always bring his favorite fish toy so it guards me from his fierce bite 🥲
Also - when a cat is getting ready to pounce, his eyes dilate and almost turn black - you can see that happen in the ginger boy - LOL! Cats at their most fun!
This explains my cat. I get so many swipes first thing in the morning. All I do is get up. Moving the blankets off me, I’m already saying no, Zoe. She really perks up then. So now I know. Thank you!!
My kitty loves playing hide and attack. He gets all crouched down in the grass and waits for me to come out then hops out at me at the last second for the fake attack. He is a funny little critter.
In junior high (decades ago) had just received Mom's permission to wear nylons. (These were not panty hose, wore a belt with clips to hold up the hose. And they RAN easily.) Very proud. Dressed one morning, David the cat leaps out at my legs from under the dining room table. I felt I "almost had a heart attack." Didn't do any damage, just patted my legs. No claws. Wanted to play. Sorry David, gotta go to school.
I actually like the noise that your air prey and possibly your ground prey make noise too because it's a great way to say when you put that toy and extend it it's like GAME ON type of way
❤ Finally someone who knows what 😳 it feels like to bite u like a Dog "When ur a Cat"! Rescued my awesome Columbo ( had an eye injury that I healed ( I thought he was biting me like a dog as he was raised with them. Found out Hes A Warrior. Just saying. Hes loving ❤ when he feels like cuddling. He gives the softest love bites. It takes mui time & patience 2 understand these great 👍 hunters that need love too.
Lol my cat Shaker used to me. He would wait under the bed. As soon as I got my boots off it was game on. It was always after I got home from work. That was our special time. Now he is 18 years old and still plays with his toys and sleeps in my arms.
Shelby does the same thing and I was thinking maybe Shelby just wanted my attention…guess I had better get into the cat and mouse game…..she is such a blast to play with….thanks
My little girl who has similar markings to Tucker, does this. I do it on purpose sometimes just to play. I keep her nails in check, but do fuss over her and play tag.
This video came at such a perfect time! My cat of 12 years still does this, and actually just did this to me the other day. Its very aggressive. I usually have bruises and deep scratches in my legs and arms. My arms get hurt because I try to use them to pull her off of my legs. I usually got her off of my legs successfully with a pillow but now I know to leave a toy in that area for her to take her aggression out on. Thank you!
my sister took in a tiny, orphaned 4 week old kitten but ended up having to keep him, her older cat and dog separated because they would not have anything to do with him and he was turning into an angry, aggressive kitten over the rejection. He was drawing blood on a regular basis because of his attacks. She needed to do something different. I had kitten-sat a couple of times and he got along well with my dog so we re-homed him with us. Having my dog to play with made a world of difference. She mothered him, worked off his energy discipling him for rough behavior by trapping him under her chest. They snuggled, wrestled, chased, and she effectively took the place of mother and litter-mates. I did trim his very sharp claws to protect her eyes until he learned to retract them to play. (trained him by doing it calmly while he was in a food coma nap in my lap) He's still less than a year old, but a different cat altogether. He's calm and social but still playful without being aggressive or scratching or biting. A little love can be a wonderful thing.
Jackson, you were reading the tail, but did you notice the eyes? Large eyes, focusing on something, The ears don't show fear (not flat), not focusing on attack, (ears not forward) This looks like he is expecting something, looking forward to something, like some interaction time. Its always interesting to read a cats body language.
Had an older cat that did that when I was a kid. She was a rescue and was declawed so it didn't hurt. I'd walk by once and she'd just wrap her paws around my leg and mouth at it while I would just drag that leg to the other side of the apartment. I thought it was just a weird thing she'd do and didn't mind it after I got over how sharp her teeth are. I think she just wanted a ride after awhile cuz she always got off at the living room or kitchen. She didn't like to play but she loved doing that and getting into things.
Pure play. Like throwing a ball to a dog. My father had nice flowing pants, our cat loved to 'attack' them. My father would shake him off, which our cat liked so much. My father angry, but the cat just happy. But it had nothing to do with aggression. Just pure fun.
My 5mo old male cat keeps randomly biting us. He hates being petted, mostly. I did get him young. His Mom was semi feral. She brought her kittens up to me while I was sitting outside. They were approximately 5-6wks old. She seemed to be asking me for help as other cats in the colony were trying to attack them. There were two. My daughter took one, female. She is very sweet. My male is aggressive. He is getting a bit better. We have many bit marks and scratches from him. We play with him with the feather wand and have provided many other toys.
Thank you this is very helpful I have a foster cat who I think was played with with hands as a kitten and I am trying to redirect her so she can get adopted more easily. It is my first time dealing with a cat like this, so this helps. Thank you!!!
Mister Meowsaki knows not to run up and bite me. So instead he jumps up and sits next to me in his blanket pushing his paws against it nibbling on it. Now Mister Meowsaki will do this to everyone else in the house. Mister Meowsaki will follow me around in the house and joining me in bathroom as I prepare to show but he will not bite my ankles
Good info My rosy does it at night when I go to the kitchen and I'm half asleep. She crouches outside the door and throws her paws around my ankles as I walk by
I wish found you're videos a few years ago Jackson. I had a cat that was sweet one moment and a demon the next. He'd run over and bite everyone. I ended up having him put down at the age of 10.
Yes that's the way my cat does play ▶ play with ur cat they love playing early mornings and evenings. That's when cats get frisky, learn ur cat watch even small things they do u will learn alot. Sometimes us humans are the ones that need to be trained more than our cats
Before I watch, I just assume I have an active, playful cat... Baxter does this to me, only used claws once and now kinda just hugs my legs with his beans and I play with him...
Cats that were born indoors around people generally scratch more than bite, but cats born outside AWAY from man DO bite. They use their nails to grab ahold of something and to climb, more than as weapons, as they tend to have stronger jaws than truly "domesticated" cats.
My cat Radar lies in wait for me to walk in and out of the kitchen from my room so he can attack my ankles. I’ve spilled many a beverage and tripped over him, so I keep a very watchful eye. I have always assumed that this is him wanting play attention from me. I say “No Radar”, but it hasn’t been much of a deterrent.
What caused a semi feral kitten that was brought indoors, was doing good, but would still want to go outside with its siblings..every morning while getting ready for work, Too Cute the cat/kitten would constantly go after my feet and legs until I left..every morning. I think it was energy he was blowing off, not aggressive just annoying, lol, plus I think he wanted to go outside again.
My sweet little man used to love-bite. Despite my efforts to NOT, I always jump when I feel the teeth. When I first got him, the jump was more exaggerated than it is now (naturally. I only noticed the need to NOT do it when I got him). So that smart little guy learned to stop doing it. He still love bites when he's all up in my freshly-washed hair, but that's because he's blinded by euphoria at that point, lol.
My cat does this but only uses his claws and teeth 1 out of 10 times probably. Part of the problem is I like to pace before work and that’s when he does it. It mostly makes me laugh.
What should I do if everytime I redirect his biting with play time he keeps attacking my feet, arms and hands? I've done this since the beginning and I'm at a loss
My cat plays fetch. She will wake me up with her pom pom ball and trill until I throw it, or else she will pounce on my non-moving feet. Our routine consists of fetch for at least 30 minutes prior to lights out, and then she will play with her toys in the living room until she comes back to my bedroom to sleep by my head. Lol! Occasionally, at 4:30 in the morning, an hour before my alarm, she is waking me up to play fetch. She is hilarious. I never taught her how to play fetch; I adopted her in February, and maybe her precious owner taught her. Who knows?
Many moons back, I can recall my kitten, leap ambushing, my bare lower leg atop the staircase, during one of the hotter months. I recall this unexpected sensation of warm and prickly, only to look down and see this black furred, wide-eyed face, full of what I presume to be pride. I resumed walking to my bedroom, kitten attached, stopped, looked down and inquired, "Now what?" Silly little beast took a couple of moments, with its mental gymnastics, prior to ambling slowly down my leg and resuming its furry business. I'd never been more contented to be too large for a food item. 🤣
Jackson I have watched you for over a decade and consider myself pretty good with cats. I recently brought in my sister in laws cat (temporary but it's been five months) got him and my cat used to each other through your methods they get along great now. But this cat is the sweetest most loving cat in the world but when he wants attention or food he attacks me! I have read to just ignore it if it's attention seeking behavior but he leaves enormous bruises and draws a lot of blood when he does it so it's impossible not to react. If I try to walk away he follow and attack again. It's to the point where if he wants food or cuddles or water I have to stop everything I'm doing or he will attack. Today he was meowing and following me while I was trying to get some water in the kitchen and he attacked me severely again and wouldn't stop until I sat on the floor and let him snuggle in my lap. I really love this cat and would love to be an option for a permanent home of my sister decides not to take him back but I can't live like this. Also my fiance and daughter live with me but he only does this to me. He snuggles with everyone in the house.
Supposedly, this movie has a reflection on people, a dumb dumber character where Val Kilmer plays the hue-This should've been a rocky horror picture show banaza.
My cat bit my heel hard, drawing blood, for no reason. I wasn't even walking. I was sitting on the couch and he walked by twice, purring his head off. He rubbed against me once, so I pet him briefly and he walked away. He came back a few second later for a second pass, but I didn't pet him. Then a minute or two later, he came back, jumped on the couch and immediately bit my heel hard. So, he wasn't overstimulated, I didn't give him any indication that I was playing. It came out of nowhere.
Cats will teach you an important lesson: don’t begin with assumptions. Seems like people always end up going wrong with cats when they begin with assuming something about the cat and responding according to that. The cat disappears. This lesson applies to everything.
I think it's cute and harmless. Cats want attention and play time. If they love you they will play with you. I dont mind being their toy. I wouldn't want her to ignore me. I want my cat to know I am there for all her needs. She entices me as much as I entice her. I can playfully and aggressively attack her as well. She loves it. I dont want just a lap cat. I love those moments I walk by and she pounces. It's fun for me and her. She has toys and we use them together. We only have each other.
When I got my orange tabby from a shelter he was so amazing and still is. After 2 weeks in he killed a mouse and he kept meowing at me and walking away towards the mouse. He wanted me to follow him so I did he wanted to show me the mouse. He was like aren't you proud of me and I was like wow you did a great job he was wanting pets after. Sometimes it's just about understanding one another and training each other. Lately he's been clawing at the blankets when we go to bed because he wants under the sheets and if I don't do it he just rubs his head against my hand like hey can I get some help here lol.
Awesome video. My cat, Star, was born feral, so she has personally hunted and has little interest in the interactive toys or even the remote ones - they aren't real prey. So I'm having trouble trying to find what will engage her to release that energy. She got under my feet so bad last night at dinnertime, I almost fell into the stair railing (she did give a look if apology, so I know she didn't mean to trip me like that). I'll keep trying to find what will work for her.
thank u jackson bu if u dont listen to your cat cant get it get better. have had a d a cat that when we get her she was hiding for weeks.. now she cant leave without me, shes garbing a door of our bedroom, as soon as we wakeup shes on us on the bed... i belive shes just grateful that we saved her, my mistake, that cat still haves us
We adopted a cat who’s exactly like this. 2 years later the “play” has lessen but once you start petting her, the claws and teeth are out immediately. We just interpreted that her love language is physical harm, unfortunately for us. Especially for me. I seem to be her favorite “target”. 🥲
I also call it murder time. But i actually give my cat something to murder and eat lol she gets a whole feeder mouse once per week. I already have a bunch of mice and rats for the snakes so its a non issue. And she only bothers the snakes to try to steal their food xD
Not true... I play with my cat, my boyfriend plays with my cat- we tag team . Take turns. My cat 🐈 still thinks it’s not enough. And we RUN AROUND like kids with my pet. He’s just a ball of energy. He refuses to play with toys. Only humans lmao
Our cat does this to us when she wants attention and wants to eat. But she doesn't "attack" us, she meows at us and then if we don't listen or if she doesn't think she's getting her point across, she approaches our leg and gives it a little nibble.
Yup. Mine did this too when I didn't give them the food attention. I put them on a schedule and they like to wake my son at 5 a.m. by meowing non stop to feed them.
Mine does the same, too long to get me breakfast I'll eat your feet. Hey I've been telling you to go to bed, you are taking to long time to get your ankles.
my husband runs fulls speed across the house with a string or toy, and my cat LOVES to chase him around the house, he will even puff up and roll around and purr and it's really funny and cute to see because he looks and sounds so happy as they play like this.
I once got on the floor with my cat, too, mirroring her body language. She legit laid her paw on my fingertips and gave me these wide eyes. I never felt that level of connection to another living being even with other humans, it was such a moment.
I go to the end of the hall with a broom after tossing and chasing his little pompoms down there, then he runs excitedly to the other end and hides with his little head down and his eyes all huge ready to play what I call cat hockey when I start taking “shots” with the broom and he explodes from out of view to jump on and capture the Pom poms, blocking them from getting past. Then I’ll run out of little balls to fling down the hall so I’ll start walking towards the other end, snd he’ll excitedly run down to man the opposite end, and we will go until he lays down and shows a belly Also I take a throw pillow from the couch and get a long string ( I like to get a pretty rainbow paracord from the bracelet rope area of the craft store) then I toss my cord across the room, drop a pillow about halfway between myself and the cat/end of string, and start dragging it back towards myself from across the floor, and if the cat sees this string going under pillow- my cats will instantly become _quite_ concerned with what tomfoolery is afoot and that the pillow absolutely *cannot* allow it to continue. They love to dive into the pillow and pull out the string that was hiding under there. I’ll let them chew on it for a bit then I’ll reset and start the game again.
At this point I can assume my cat can commit slaughter, grand theft auto, a bank heist, assassination and water board someone then turn up to court and plead not guilty due to playtime.
My first cat Thomas does this alot and he always run under the bed peeking out at out with his googly eyes. One time my mom joked around saying that she's not going to buy him any more cat food and he turned and attacked her then ran off. 🤣🤣
My kitty does this! I recently realized that she just wants to play when she bites my ankles! 😂 She's about 1 or 2 years old so she still has her kitten energy!
We had a fluffy calico once who would have what we came to call “jump rope time” every day. We’d hear a warbled, muffled meow from somewhere in the house, accompanied by a dragging noises, and that was our cue: she wanted not to chase, but to follow a green, plastic jump rope as one of us dragged it behind us on the hardwood floors, round and round the house. She would signal that the game had to begin by finding the rope, picking it up in her mouth, and dragging it around the house as she meowed; basically showing us what we had to do. My family would hear the sound and we’d all call out to each other, “it’s jump rope time! Jump rope tiiiiime!”, and then guilt each other into being the one who had to walk around and round the house for a half hour until a cat got bored. ❤️
My second cat was an ankle biter but it wasn't aggressive or angry behavior. She used to do it to get your attention. Used to crack me up the way she would do it. She would just saunter up to you, sit at your feet, give you a little nip, you jump out of your skin and look down to see two huge beautiful soulful eyes begging for attention.
Both the boy kitties I’ve had in my life use their mouth like a hand it usually happens when they want to go outside and I don’t feel like going outside with them so I just opened the door a little little bit to let them look, and when I shut it and walk away that’s when I get nipped. 😂 they’re saying “hey! Come back! We aren’t done here!”
Our family cat only does it when he's been out baking in the sun for quite awhile, usually in the afternoon. We call it him being "sun drunk". It's like the sun melts his brain a little and he gets a bit nutty hehe.
I had watched this video about two months ago. It was in desperation because I was done being attacked by my cat. I used the advice presented in this video and its like I have a different cat. I never feed him unless he has done the play and catch, I stopped putting a large bowl of food out but feed him small amounts but only after the chase, catch play. He knows that he won't get fed until he does this and now during this play he will drag toy to the food bowl when he is hungry. This seemed like magic because it seemed to instantly stop the attacking behavior. THANK YOU!!!!
@SuGo As a new cat owner struggling with a traumatized kitten who demonstrates aggressive behaviour, you being so judgemental is really discouraging 😔 I’m doing my best.
@@prinnmaddi you're not labelling your cat as an asshole, you recognize he's been traumatized, and you're not giving up on him; that alone sets you apart form the aforementioned category of owners who'd rather give up and slap a label on them :) good luck on the kitty, they change and get better quickly!
I wish I could have dealt with my guy Nemo’s aggression better. He passed a few months ago at 15 1/2 and we understood each other deeply in his last 4 -5 years. Prior to that he would attack by biting hard enough to sink his teeth and claws fully in. I’m sure this was antisocial/anger issues because he was isolated for several years, mid life, due to marking issues This was due to other cats/territorial issues, despite being fixed. When I got divorced I took him to live with me. He had his own space and no competition for food but the biting continued. The only way I knew how to deal with it was to get loudly angry (never physically violent) followed up by calm talking. It was my way of apologizing and he would fake sleep while I did this. Eventually, he stopped the biting and learned to touch me gently with his paw for attention. It took a couple of years of blood, scars, and infections but we finally worked it out. We were friends in the end. I just wish I’d had a better way of changing his behavior. RIP buddy.
It's not easy when you have a cat with deep emotional/behavioural issues (see my post above). You did your best and gave him a loving home. Many others would have given up on him.
@@jdee4956 Many people told me to get rid of him (or worse). It never crossed my mind. I carried him home in the palm of my hand, saw him enjoy life and nature as a juvenile and young adult, and become isolated and antisocial mid life. I was determined to make him know that he was safe and loved for his last 7 years, when it was just me and him. I know that he felt that love (and returned it) in his final several years. 6 months on and I still miss him deeply.
This is what I’m afraid of happening with my kitten. I’m not willing to have an aggressive cat, I’m not patient enough to deal with it. Ive been doing everything I can, and I hope she grows out of it.
@@KaraKdw Since your friend is still a kitten there is a lot of hope but, because of the nature of most cats, you will have to find some amount of patience. Spend a lot of time talking softly, eye contact (but not staring) with slow blinking, and learn when to give it space and when to give it attention. As your cat matures mentally and loses some of that kitten energy, you may find it’s actually a pretty mellow critter!
This perfectly describes our kitten Lemur, who not only attacks feet but sometimes hands as well. I'll definitely be using your tips to redirect her behavior. She's a good kitty, she just needs an outlet for all of her energy.
Does he have a really good bunnykicker? I think most aren’t big enough. Sockkitty makes a cat sized bunny kicker. It’s got crinkles and catnip inside, and it’s way more appealing than your legs and hands.
@@professorbutters My cat likes to bunnykick his wand toys, so I've tried giving him bigger kickers, but any time a toy is much bigger than, IDK, let's say a hand, he acts afraid and runs away from it! I don't know what to get him since he acts fearful of most kickers.
@@heatherbryant4197 yeah, my cat tends to only love feathery things and very very small things...or pieces of dried plant and friggin dried out moths lol. Sometimes I catch her doing about three halfassed stomps from her hindlegs on the sad floorbanana in the hallway and very sneakily she moves the furry mouse to my bed at night but that's about it. Kong kickeroo is just collecting dust, even more than the floorbanana. it is too big for her.
We just adopted our first cat and she’s arriving in a month from her foster home in Greece. I’m learning so much from your channel Jackson! Thank you 😊
I can give you some advice? Adopt one more, cats are very needy being the only one, and the adaptation of a new cat is complicated, in the future you will want to adopt another cat
@@priscillad8 that all depends on the cat. We have a female senior cat and a male who adopted us about 4 years ago at about 9 months old. He still attacks the female. She avoids him like the plague. If you want more than one I would adopt 2 or more as kittens so they can grow up together.
@@tabs617 well, this behavior is normal, it's called an adaptation period, sometimes it takes months, but in the end it's good for them, not just for my opinion, there are several specialists I follow who say that, and of course two kittens will definitely be more🤗 Anyway, my advice was for to adopt one that already lived with him there
Often a symptom of Single Kitten Syndrome - cats who grow up alone don't learn that biting / scratching hurts as they grow and get stronger. This is one of many reasons why you should get a pair of kittens.
My cat used to wait under my bed for me every night while I went through my bedtime routine... And then when I came out, and was getting into bed, BAM! She’d pounce on my poor bare feet/ankles/lower leg. I began redirecting her with treats. As soon as I would come out of my bathroom, I would shake the treat bag, and wait for her to jump up on my bed. It didn’t take her long to catch on, and stop pouncing. Now she will wait on top of my bed, wait until I get into bed, and then she gets her treats. She’ll usually take off right after that, and go through her zoomies for about 10 or 20 minutes, and then settle in. Thanks for the videos!! You have really helped my kitty and me have an awesome relationship 😻 I am learning all the time. One thing I’m curious about - I don’t think I’ve ever heard you play guitar 🤔
My cat gets up next to me I pet and all of a sudden she scratches and bites. When I go to bed and she wants to go also. As so as I lift up my feet and put on bed she bites and grabs my feet to the point of I can't get her off. I have bites a and scratches all over feet and hands. What to do. I love her. I got her rite from her mother. Never by children or other pets. My Dr said get rid of her. I can't. Please respond. Thank you.
@@barbarasattar501 what a nonsense to get rid of her! Try the tools that are handed to you on this channel. I found a cat on the street with this behaviour. Of course I'll never know, but I think they got rid of him because of this behaviour. I have different tactics. One that always works is get his attention elsewhere. I have some cattreats that I throw through the room. First one, he chases it. Then the next one. 3 will do the tric. Succes! And please, don't get rid of him.
We lost our cat in July to old age 🥺 and then adopted a kitten on August 31st. I was SHOCKED by how differently these two cats have acted. The kitten is WILDLY more active and attack-prone than the older cat was. It makes sense, ofc, but still, seeing it happen in real time has been a little wild. Our new kitten does the “attack the legs as you walk by” thing when we’re getting up. He’s definitely at his most playful first thing in the morning. Seeing this in other cats and knowing that it’s normal is VERY useful. Thank you. It’s been decades since we had a kitten, so I just didn’t know if this was a crazy characteristic of just our new kitten, or if all kittens did this kind of thing. Thanks for the info!
I always ask my cat: “why are you hunting humans, what would you even DO if you caught a human? Eat a whole human?” Luckily he doesn’t bite, just runs to chase me and it’s fun
