The 2022 Ohio Beef Cattle Feeding School was hosted simultaneously in both Sandusky and Mercer Counties by Ohio State University Extension on February 8. The focus of this year’s school was supply chain concerns for both fed cattle and also the feedstuffs they are finished with.
OSU Extension Beef Specialist Dr. Steve Boyles led off the evening with a look at feed costs and strategies for reducing those costs while maintaining performance. Stan Smith followed with a brief look at the updated OSU fed cattle beef budgeting spreadsheets. The program concluded with Dr. Lyda Garcia’s discussion regarding the beef packing industry with regards to capacity and supply chain disruptions.
This is that Beef School program in its entirety.
