@@lindab.716 On my birthday my spouse and I were going to breakfast I had the same thing happen a scared pitty running loose crossed the street in front of me. I foster, train and heal pit type dogs (about 100 in 20 years) so I got out of my car to check if he tags (he didnt) and the lil happy ball leapt in my drivers seat! So he went to the local no kill shelter, he was chipped and his family came to get him in an hour. Little sweet goober had been stolen out of their yard a month ago! He was a good dog, if he had been abandoned I woulda run him thru my foster and place program but im glad I could get him home.

A lot people think everything is a Pit Bull

It’s a positivity thing when something is done with a dog that is a bit difficult or challenging that they may not enjoy such as getting blood drawn (I don’t enjoy needles & I’ve been poked with countless different ones over the years)it’s important that afterwards you let them know that they did a good job as a result showing lots of positive body language & vocal tone they’re more apt to respond the same way for future treatment and remember that the same experience is not anything to worry about. I do the same thing with my dogs(it’s possible that it’s just something us women do)especially my male who’s very sensitive & nervous ESPECIALLY with getting his nails done he absolutely hates it!! So bc of it both during the process I try to stay really calm & positive with him letting him know that I’m there (he sees me as his safe place & security as I raised him from a 5 week old)after whatever we’re doing that is really hard for him is done I do exactly what Lizzy did I get really high pitched I use my “baby voice” i may even jump around a little bit or clap(dogs pay extra attention to both our voices & body language)so he knows “oh I did good moms happy”. He’s also a very tactile dog so I also add in lots of body rubdowns & head/ear scratches bc it’s what he enjoys most he’s a 60 lb dog but he’s a big baby;every dog is different so what’s nice for him may not always have the same level of value to another dog (they may enjoy other reinforcements like a toy)but this is what he likes I’ll also use treats as he loves food but as a secondary reinforcement for Gunner pets scratches & kisses are a big deal for him.

Either way, they’re doing the lords work taking in all these dogs and getting them the help they need, much better than you just sitting around & being judgement, when was the last time you helped someone/ something without expecting anything in return? Have the type of day you deserve. 😊

Nope, the term "Pit Bull" is a general term that refers to the 4 different Pit Bull Variety breeds. The APBT, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Bull Terrier and American Bully.
