The tour needs more personalities like Cav. He is not a robot and rides on emotion. He doesn’t hide the way he feels and it makes you root for him! Congratulations Cav, you deserve this so much!
I started following cycling in 2012 when I was just a kid in junior high in China, not the target audience for the sport of cycling per se. I spoke little English, had no power in my legs, and had a crappy mountain bike that I rode to school everyday. Ball sports never interested me. Instead, I was hooked by images and videos of TDF. Specifically this man, Cavendish. I recall vividly the clip in 360p where he sprinted in T-Mobile jersey like a rocket on the Champs-Elysee. I dreamt of becoming a pro cyclist due to his influence. Despite being unable to actualize that dream 12 years later, I'm thankful for all he has done for me, and for millions of other fans who are inspired by him!
Really good comment, shows how great sporting heroes can inspire so many others to achieve, not necessarily on the world sporting stage but on a personal level. Cav´s story is one of the greatest.
@@CiclismoPeba There was a lot of background stuff including maybe not being as fit, but efforts were made to have this not happen at all. Some countries in cycling did not want a British rider breaking the record of Eddy. Those old rivalries are still there waiting for a reason to flare up.
What a gent. Towards the end you can hear the journos fighting with each other, jostling for position or something...and Mark takes control and smooths things out..."guys, guys, guys..." He's engaged, and at the same time, above the fray. Respect.
No one can ever say he doesn’t deserve this. The man went through hell and came out the other side. Inspirational. That’s exactly what sport is about. Amazing determination to win.
OH my gosh! That was fantastic to see this wonderful man "finally" getting that win. It was a thrill to watch and my mom and I are jumping up and down during the sprint and crying when he went across in first. Salutations and many congratulations to you Mark Cavendish. You have made history.
The best thing about the Tour de France is that every day a story is written and a life is changed forever. What a story today. We’ve been lucky to witness one of the greats.
What an amazing guy and amazing accomplishment! I didn't see the footage from the end yet but I can imagine nobody gave in just to give him the stage win and so very, very well deserved!
I'M SO HAPPY ABOUT THIS! The fight for the yellow has been amazing so far (and it's the fifth stage...), Bini wining a stage and now wearing le maillot vert, Cavendish breaking the record (well deserved) after last tour's sad ending, Pogi, Remco and Jonas giving it all in the mountains, Bardet wining the first stage on a brutal breakaway, Carapaz wearing yellow and becoming the first rider in Latin America to wear the three gc leader jerseys.
Look at the love from the other racers and directors. That says it all. Vino is a brilliant guy. You can hate on him too, but it doesn't change reality.
I was sad when Wout Van Aert beat him on Champs-Élysées because it would have been a great way to break this record and for the past two years, I've been rooting for this single win. To be honest, I thought it was impossible for him to win again but it makes me really happy that he has proved me wrong. Congratulations Cav, a well deserved victory and record
..knew it... those drama on the starting stages is an out of the box tactics....this is a great milestone for cycling especially for those who's rooting for the missile in this 35th project... chapeau to my guy CAV!!!
Massive Respect 🔥 Winners Win and Hard Work Pays 🏆 Anyone else admire the bunny hop of the Cofidis rider over the falling rider 100m from the finish 😵💫🤯
Me too, I was relieved and amazed how quickly that Cofidis rider was able to react🙏 The guy who fell was from Lidl trek, right? Got lucky! I also cheered for Kristoff who after chasing still made third of stage 5!!
It would be cool if Bini were the one to break THIS record! But yeah, he will need an even stronger yet lead out train than he currently has in order to accomplish that very lofty goal.
I got my Altura Nevis signed by Cav at leazes park in Newcastle in 2011. Somehow i managed to leave it on a train not that long after! Wish i still had it!
NOW I can die in peace! MUCH KUDOS and major CONGRATS to the Manx Missile!! You did it despite all of the setbacks, naysayers, and many throwing up road blocks to try and stop you in the recent past!! IF 'King Eddy' is even HALF the sporting champion he is touted as being, he will be one of the first past champions to congratulate you on this accomplishment, either by phone, or in person. 😉 Records were made to be broken after all, even the ones set by the 'immortals' of our sport.
Broken record but so much has to go right to be in a good position to attack these sprint finishes and in the biggest road race on the planet he's still managing to move the gear faster than his competition out of the pack. He's a marvel and now unrivalled.
ASTANA PLAYED THE PERFECT CHESS GAME THE WHOLE TEAM WAS SCRIPTED TO PRETEND AND FAKE EVERYONE OUT: Cavendish and the whole team did the rope a dope on all sprinters..from stage 1 to stage 4 it was the antics losing time, fake cramps, fake dehydration, team around him packing ice on him and pouring water...it was all atrap being set to destroy them all as he conserved energy for the later sprints...Smart very smart
