Well, duh, it's an OVA. A lot of OVAs back in that time had amazing animation quality. If you want to blow your brain, watch Iczer-1 from 1980's. It's even more quality ^_^
Rewatching this whole series is fun. Surprised that they're self aware and its nice to see that the world that's created made beings like Devilman, Mecha Beasts, and demons become less hostile. It's like a true harmony even though Satan/Ryo doesn't really like it
I wonder if Satan stayed in his Ryo form for as long as he did so he couldn’t accidentally one-shot Akira. Then he gets mad at god and accidentally does so anyway.
Wow i really didnt expected an ACTUAL PLOT, character development and feels in this "silly Go Nagai's works parody" And that is GREAT, i ended up having more than i wanted , good job Nagai
That was a fun little special. Cool to see Violence Jack play a part, too. Although I'm a bit disappointed that Cutey Honey never showed up despite being in the OP.
Grey technically his lower half was vaporized by hot plasma, waaaayyyyy worse than being cut in half and the same happens in every incarnation of devilman, but tomato tomató the point is that Akira dies.
Violence Jack in the original manga, even though he's a reincarnation, still has this urge (naturally) to kill Ryo Asuka, I think Devilman Lady is more of the non-canon here.
NoFairPlay Yes, at the end of that one he teamed up with Lucy while in VJ Devilman kills the !@#%& with a cool way, re-entering the atmoshpere, ending the story once and for all.
“This is a child’s world. We can still make up”. They went in the exact mega direction that ink was thinking would be an incredible one to comment on their characters. Amazing.
Damn Nagai you really got me!...o.O First time watching this chibi film. I have to admit i misunderstood Nagai work. What a trip of a work making this Violence Jack character somehow related to Akira.I kind of got very disappointed for killing Devilman. Still am i miss Akira it could have follow a different direction. But without a doubt i give nothing but respect. Nice chibbi message explaining the tragic ending of are great beloved devil hero "Akira Fudo/Devilman" like a "move on fanboys!.Your hero still here just not the way you like it" kind of message lol. Gives me a warm feeling to know GOD/Nagai was speaking out. Saying i don't want to bring him back lol. Good for him, taking it how he wants to. I guess i was not the only one disappointed. But he got balls to stand up and end it like he wants too.
to date i have only recently seen devilman but after watching this im intrested in mazinger and violence jack. I heard a Netflix reboot of devilman is coming in 2018.
After reading through it and some of the sequel manga I think the only parts of devilman that are memorable and differentiate it from others comes from Ryo
I know right? She seemed to appear in the intro, but she didn't appear. There are a lot of characters that appear in the credits, but some of them didn't even either.
Everytime I hear Violence Jack talking, all I hear is Old Joseph Joestar saying “Oh God!” “Oh my God!” “Oh no!” “Holy shit!” “Oh shit!” “Yes Yes Yes. Oh my God.” “Son of a bitch!” “Help me! Oh my God!”
I feel like Sho Hayami would be a fun voice for Violence Jack because his voice has gotten gruff since the 80s and he has a similar voice to Tessho Genda and Unsho Ishizuka.
When I saw Akira body fall to from the hole and Jack the guy from mazinger was sad and saw Jack he said he thinks he saw him before that made me upset I even feel bad for Ryo Even when Jack tells the guy from mazinger that we may have met in a previous life
