CB is pretty active here in the Southwestern and Southeastern parts of OH. There’s a handful of locals I talk to every week. Especially on the weekends. I’m doing a road trip down to Miami this summer and will be interesting if I contact any locals on the way down.

Boy it was dead as a doorbnail this morning on 19 as I headed to Costco in Royal Palm Beach, Florida to gas up my car.... Spent 30 minutes shouting out to anyone & everyone with negative results ..Maybe it was too early?...Breaker Break...
It may not be dead, but it's certainly dying. The problem is that GMRS/FRS is rapidly replacing CB radio, and with good reason: GMRS is not only UHF, but gives you up to 50 watts of power. With my GMRS mobile unit, I can communicate to people in the next town over. With CB radio, I can barely communicate with people in the other side of my own town.
@@radioroadmedia Actually, here in Wisconsin, GMRS is quickly becoming a very popular option for road installations, and ever truckers in my area have swapped out their CB radios for GMRS. So depending on where you are, you can indeed get traffic reports and speed trap info from GMRS. Also, it seems that many people in the GMRS communities are calling it "CB 2.0" (the largest being RU-vidr NotaRubicon Productions). So with the rise in popularity of GMRS, we just may live to see an era where GMRS does indeed become the new CB radio standard.

Why not buy a mc kinley???it has all modes and if you buy the eu version and convert it to export it covers from 24.715. To 30.000 mhz. On all modes..it has a 1 din sise(same as a old car radio)23 watts ssb and 10 watts dead key am...
@ Christopher, what kind of antenna set up do you have on 22nd floor ? If you were to get yourself a good GMRS portable, you definitely can hit any repeaters you would like to. I'm about 2000 miles to your south. Although I'll keep it current, I don't get on the ham radio down here... too cliquish and stupid club politics & regular politics - neither of which am I interested in. I just use my GMRS, MURS, and FRS, and if I'm feeling adventurous, my ISM 902 Mhz portables. Going to get myself a "dream" CB once FM is approved and President ads FM to the SSB McKinley. Or if they add FM and SSB to the Randy !
