In Sussex it's terrible on 19, I came back on 18months ago and by August this year I had enough. I decided to take the foundation exam which thankfully I passed (only just) on the 5th Sept.😁
I mean I'm no prude, but there's only so much of that shite you can take day in day out. It's a case a the few ruining it for the rest. At least FM40 gives this sort of op a place to be, away from the civilised society 🤣
@@G5STU same this way regards the behaviour of some on the UK40 I have my foundation licence but the wife was struggling with it so we got a cheap 40 channel radio it lasted 20 mins back in its box I couldn’t believe it, I have a multi mode radio and have to say the SSB DX side on 11m is normally very professional in some respect as good as the ham bands T5 can be a zoo sometimes but you get that when it’s uncontrolled but go on 40/20m during a weekend contest, regards Tony
I was on back in the 90's too. I knew a CB tractor driver, we used to hit the young farmers discos around Kent. Don't sound as busy as it was back then though. I owe my entire teenage sexlife to CB!!! Lol!
As an avid dxer on 11m and having been into CB since pre 27/81, as a teenager in 1981, cb was the original "social network" Its incredibly refreshing to find a licenced ham that has positivity toward 11m use. Randy, at Notarubicon would be proud!! The phrase "muppet" I believe originated from the MPT licence allocation referring to the 27/81 legislation set up in November 1981. 73s, 163-FB-029 / 163-TC-326
Great fun back in the day ,still got my radio ,plus my dear dad's radios haven't used in long time used to turn dad's radio on to have a listen must try to get back into it again
My 1st radio back was a CRT Xenon, cracking little radio itself, was only doing 2.9w from the factory, does a comfortable 8w now, thanks to a secret menu. Had that paired with a kl203, and worked great.
Yeah I agree in principle, obviously it would be an ITU job, but at the very least here in the UK it would make sense to add 27Mhz back onto the band plan. And to be controversial, maybe the foundation licence should then only be able to go on 11m (100w limit) + 2m/70cm (50 w limit). I think that would be an interesting debate :)
@migsvensurfing6310: Where I live the only people I ever hear on CH19 are two elderly gents who stay there all day discussing their various ailments. I've literally never heard anybody else on Ch19 since I came back to CB about 4 years ago.......everybody is now on the "Freeband" frequencies (27.555 USB).
Cb is nothing like it used to be its dead in most parts of the UK o my god the dreaded eco Mike he sounds a happy soul and one thing to say to off com 🖕 😅
Doesn't anyone use the muppet bands anymore & if they do what's wrong with using muppet handles instead of SSB codes or Ham call signs I mean WTH What the HECK is gone wrong with CB has it gone well & truly down the the loo seems like it. All videos about CB on You Tube DON'T show anyone using the muppet handles anymore WHY THE HELL NOT!!!! It looks like it gone extremely technical & a bit more complicated since i was last on it some years ago. & was thinking of going back on. But, if this is the way it has gone then it is a right load of RUBBISH!!! & i just expected that the bucket mouths , false accusations & insult calling had stopped. But, As others have no idea what it's like or has been in my area then they should come up here & find out for themselves. Because they all seem to think it is all well & good. Try here in the NORTH WEST areas & see what you get either it be total quiet or it be full of verbal abuse to certain radio operators. Don't just take my word for it come & try the area out for yourselves. As i said it has been quite some years since i was last on air & i went off due to the HUGE!!!! amount of unprovoked grief & abuse i got & refused to go back on air. I got accused of being this & that So, this put me right off for many, many years & now i have no idea since all i hear is the muppets have gone & it's gone more tech with their SSB call signs on AM & FM No mid or low or high band ( no multi band rigs unless they are illegal due their huge amount of power ouputs & only basic 40 ch AM & FM sets legal Am i wrong or not on this. Only the old SSB rigs about sold at riddiculas (excuse spelling error) high prices still online. I need some basic explanation about my confused mind & no i am not a young man anymore. So, please be thoughtful in your explanations my mind is not as good as it was once. ...... I know how did i post this lot. With great difficulty!!!!! 🤔🙄
I had an AM cb set back in the day then when FM sets came out used one of those and it was fine for a good while, then came the knobheads that sat in their bedrooms blocking every channel playing music. I ended up taking it out of my vehicle and putting it in the shed where it slowly died. My son has just bought one so we’ll find out if things are any better..
Tried to get the gear back out a few years back. Ch19 was just 2 HGV drivers on a locL route all day long using the f and c words every 2nd word. Just miserable.
well if want extra privacy use cb ctcss mode,theres plenty now out there from UK dealers,Jopix GS-60,Albreacht AE6290,President RAndy 3HT,Harrison II,George II TBC ,CRT Alpha,Ares II .Think its too easy generalise cb depends what area in ch19 carry vary a lot and despending on time and day,its not all bad on cb ssb DX on EU,UK CB nets,FM Dxing,Voip gateways. I run ctcss on cb for persoanl radio uses on 27mhz S-NFM and its works great,give it a go! Rob P
Sub audible tones codes ,match the code on sets adds a bit more privacy (won't hear them) to non tone CB. Also helps with noisy areas stops squelch blast opening on Radom electronic man made noise. Only used on FM mode
