After 7 years this is my first time riding the 750 chopper. The motor is running Weber DCOE 40s on a Russ Collins manifold and it has a ARD magneto. *Updated video below of how the bike is now* • CB750 chopper long bik...
I had a 750 Honda hard tail chopper with the springer front end and the 5 inch front drum brake! Eventually I put on forward controls from a Harley Davidson sportster! The shifter splines matched perfect!
I used to ride 18 over' ironheads with kick start and magneto in the 70s. Sometimes the bike would fall over when kick starting those P-cam 900s especially when the 714s kicked in.
Its actually completely custom made by Matt at Workingman's customs (though he doesn't do fabrication anymore). But its essentially based off a denver's frame as you can see by the double downtubes.
im guessing it got all figured out but if im honest it didnt sound like it was on all four cylinders or running quite lean, im just used to a nice drone sound from a inline 4 and a smooth rev.
You are correct I hadn't gotten the carbs completely sorted at this point. It runs much better and smoother now. I've been waiting on getting it painted and doing another video of it.
put duel pipes - tune carb and best of all - put a 530 full 1000cc roller chain and sprocket kit on it.... if I recall correctly - drop one tooth on front and add three on the rear.... the 530 chain is 11% lighter and stronger the the 620 stock chain... that's besides the fact it's a true roller chain... this puts the stock cam on it's best power band... it moves - you only will notice a very limited RPM difference ... put lots of smiles for miles on my face back in the day
Cool buid man. I built a VTX1300 after an ole boy got into a pint of shine and took it for a spin. I bought the left over parts. Put 21" spike apes with 3" harley spike risers. I will always be a fan of anyone who chops anything, ESPECIALLY METRIC BIKES. All u see is Harley. In 2022 Toyota is just as American made as Harley so im not hearing it from the Harley geeks!
I'm riding the clutch here since it is literally the first time I have ridden it and it was not running 100%. Plus the front tire was low in pressure which was making it harder to ride. I don't ride it like that normally and after I get it painted I'm going to put up more videos of it.
a friend of mine bought an original frame hd knuckle head with that kind of fork back in the 70's. i rode it a few times and it was the most rediculous bike i ever rode, it had no front brake and you could barely make a turn with it. i tried to talk him into putting a regular fork on it like a springer or a wide glide but he liked it.
This bike was made with that front end in mind. So it isn't really hard to ride, I'm struggling here as it is literally my first time riding it and a bunch of stuff was not setup right. But I generally ride it every day if its nice out.
@@steveperry1344 I mean it has a disc in the rear and it stops just fine. I don't ride it like its a super sport or anything so the rear brake is more then enough. A front brake would not work very well here since it would just try and tuck the front wheel due to how long the front is.
Fuckin sick. Lookin to do my first build, would like to do a frame like this. This exact look is what I want. I wasn’t sure if there is a name for the style.
Tough to get used to all of that length and rake of the front fork. Imagine all of that on a Harley that will weigh, at least half again as much as that bike.
What no electric starter? How about a shovel, couple of golf clubs, pool stick, maybe a kitchen sink facet welded on, for a theme bike, alla OCC? Oh, paint spider widow, black, red? 😀 You know $250,000, for a rolling hardware store, forgetting that choppers, where, well, chopped, minimism. Pays to remember what these really looked like in the 60s. Was having serious flash backs.
I wouldn't ride that thing on a bet. No front brake probably makes it safer. Where is the anchor to help with emergency stopping? That rear tire would skid for a kilometer from a 100kph stop.
Es sieht so aus, als ob dieser Chopper am besten nur geradeaus fährt. Kurven müssen bei dieser Gabellänge nicht sein ... Sieht gut aus, fährt aber nicht gut.
This was all very roughly running. It is not like that anymore, also this bike has a mag that is fully advanced at all times so it can hard to start when its hot.
@@chopperchopster hopefully you never experience "sudden rectifier death syndrome", which usually only strikes at least 10 miles from home in a cold rain, lol. With a Kettering battery excited iggy, you're pushing for a while. With a maggy, you lose your lights and horn. There's a reason aircraft engines run maggies
The longer the bars..the deadlier The weight distribution is lighter weight.and More likely to slip ..one example... Turning on wet roads..I'm from early Seventies.. listen to me my children....
Well considering that I had spent 10 years working on it up to this point and everything is totally untested yeah I'm definitely nervous. Not to mention all the money that has gone into it and all the non replaceable parts, I was being extremely cautious.
I get a lot of comments like this, the bike was running pretty rough here and this is quite literally the very first time I had ridden it. I was still getting used to all of the weirdness of the bike. I'm going to get another video after its painted of me riding it. Also the reason I stopped is that I have to fold up the foot peg to kick it and I had forgotten to put it back down.
