In the past, I think I would have subtracted the original numbers first and found the closest answer. This is a straightforward way to estimate and much faster, which I appreciate!

I have never heard of front-end estimation before. I paused the video and tried solving before watching your technique, and I subtracted which took much longer! The front end estimation was super helpful!

Rounding before subtracting is a time saver on tests like the MTEL. This problem is a good reminder to always show your work because I did it "in my head" and would've gotten 10,000 as my answer just because I didn't show it out!

Loved that you estimated/ rounded first! I had never seen that before and it was a lot easier to solve the equation after it was rounded and simplified!

I would have known it was subtraction but loved the explanation that it was "front end estimation." It's crazy what you can forget sometimes! Great refresher.

I liked that you rounded the numbers in the problem prior to doing the subtraction. This allows for a simpler and cleaner subtraction problem rather than subtracting then trying to round the solution.

I wouldn't have thought to just look at the first number. I would have been trying to round with the last number, so this video really cleared that up.

when you see the word "more" in a word problem it most likely means subtraction. I liked how you reviewed the idea of rounding, it made the subtraction process so much easier.

I had never heard of front end estimation before and to put it into layman's terms was really helpful to me. I was therefore able to calculate the estimation more quickly and saved time.

I liked how by round either up or down and subtracting, you are then able to find the estimate. I also think it is beneficial to find those key words so that you can use the correct technique to solve the problem!

I learned when you see “estimate” in a problem like this, make it easier for yourself and round the first number up or down depending on the number before it. Work smarter, not harder!

I loved the reminders of estimating. Looking at the number to the right of the first number to see if it is greater than or equal to 5 determines whether you round up or down.

Before watching how you solved it, I thought the answer was originally C, watching you work through it helped me realize what I missed. My numbers were not aligned properly, your visualization made me realize how important it is to take time to write it out neatly.

I think that this brush up on front end estimation was great! I just took both numbers and subtracted them to get to about 100,000. Front end estimation is way easier.

I found the video to be very beneficial as it reminded me of the tricks to estimation and the key-words to subtraction. Without the understanding of the key-statement, "how many more ..." I most likely would have gotten this question incorrect.
