Oh maaan! I wrote down about 10 various professions who I'd like to become. One of destinations is CBP/TSA. And your words "I'm tired of bumping dead end jobs and I want to have a career to grow!..." - I dropped a tear. I'm 29 and feeling in the same dead end situation.
Word of advice for anyone who walks into a law enforcement panel interview. Show up early with a CLEAN SHAVE and in a Suit. It shows you are serious about the job and separates you from the candidates that don't.
Congratulations Mike! U don't seem like your ready but u seem like your ready. I am glad u made this decision because we need u. I Know it's not going to be easy. But your still a young man and I like your honesty. Keep up the good work and your be just fine. Bless!
From NYC, with the absolute dream of being a firefighter just like yourself, but also going through the CBPO process as we speak. I lack a lot of the confidence I need to really excel and I never feel that I’m capable of doing as big of things I want to. But this video really helped me find that mindset I need to focus and stay determined to become a CBPO! Very similar situations, much respect to you brother.
Congratulations brother …..my son has just joined the marines and going to church today and watching this video I know the lord is telling me what I need to do I am joining the BP …
Im currently on the hiring process, everything has been going smoothly so far. Never thought I’d make it this far in the hiring process. Passed everything on the first try. Next I have the polygraph and the drug exam before entering, very excited to have this opportunity. Just gotta be confident with yourself!
He’s 100% correct about that structured interview. Just be prepared and be confident going in y’all. Good luck to anyone reading this/going through this process!
It's nice to see someone else going through all this. I just submitted my application and I have the candidate experience record to do right now. I excited for this and I truly want this.
I did not study for the test and got a 90. Read each question for what it is. Don't overread it and stick with the first answer that you picked, don't change it
Bro first off, you from CC? Peeped the Caroll shirt lol. Definitely gunna be following your videos. I’m working on getting back into shape since that’s probably my biggest weakness. Currently working in nursing but did this field to make momma happy not me. Always wanted to do LE field of work so I’m looking at going through with the CBP route. Looking forward to seeing your progress and thank you for these tips and information.
So glad I found this video. I'm studying for my entrance exam now. My only worry would be the academy. I think I can handle the exam , but I am really excited about the opportunity and actually having a career. I have a computer science degree but I've always had an interesting in enforcement, procedures at work , I'm even a parti time armed security guard but of course there's that gap , that void, of wanting to do something meaningful , and have an actual career while doing it.
@@sebastianaguillon2722 oh wow 😅 didnt expect this. Hey brother. I’m towards the finishing phases of the process. I recently received my email that I passed the structured interview. I really only have the Polygraph and Drug test left and then wait to see if I’m found suitable.
Thank you for sharing brother. I myself am in the process as well. I got my contingent offer and waiting for the next step. I wish you all the best in the next process to come and your future career. Aloha
@@mjgarcia7332 There are many rude and unprofessional cpb employees at the lax airport los angeles. So many yelp and travel websites complaints even from a former wife of a late cpb employee we know who served for over 25 years. I hope you are going to a better location where people like their jobs and intend to treat responsible passengers with dignity.
I’m in the process too so I’m proud of you for getting to where you are now. It takes a lot to keep going & not give up when you think you didn’t do well. I will say that you’re still a young’n at 25 lol you’re not even in your 30’s like me yet. Anyway good luck
@@TheLoyalLegion7 how long did it take for you to get that far ? I applied 5 days later got a tentative offer submitted 3 pre employment tasks and 2 days later already got my interview scheduled
Thank you for the advice🙏🏾I just received my email for my CBT test . I’m not big on testing either but I’m confident on taking the test since I pass the test for the Marshals. I just be nervous with any test.
A word of advice to all future applicants, square away your resume. I am a military vet, honorably discharged, with 10 years of service and have experience working armed security for my local PD and DHS police at the ports of entry. I am also a current USBP employee. And I was not selected for lack of experience. Make sure your resume is detailed, if not you can end up like me having to reapply again at a later date.
This video really gave me the confidence to really pursue this career I thank you for that bro . Is there any new updates on your processes or did something come up?
So glad I found this, I’m studying for the entrance exam right now and I have to say it’s been somehow hard, I’m staying confident and focused though, any suggestions? Thank you for the insight you gave me lots of hope
Nice video buddy. I was a TSA long time ago but I m in close or completion process to go to the academy for CBP. I recently passed my poly... If you do have any ideas, opinions, teachings for a 37 yrs old man here except what you said about the physical trainings and all, please do let me know. I m trying to keep myself fit and main thing among all - The self confidence. Looking forward for prayers and blessings.....NJB from NYC.👍
How was it for you during the Background portion. I'm on my BI, And they are going to meet up with a friend of mine that I put down as a reference lol Shocked me a bit
Thanks for the insight you have provided in your video, very informative! Always remain confident no matter what. I'm in process 2, I applied not knowing I'd be this far, took the entrance exam without studying & passed. Like you mentioned about your interview, that you thought you did horrible, that's how I felt about the test; but, I passed! Did my fingerprints today & now I am just waiting to get a call for an interview. Always have confidence about yourself, I'll keep that in mind, thanks brother, hope all is well.
@@hernand7466 it’s going bro, just did my medical, fitness exam & drug screening a couple weeks back. I’m in the background investigation phase, after I’m doing the polygraph I assume. How is your process going?
@@Carlos-vb9lm I submitted my background e-qip a week ago just waiting for scheduling fitness and medical. Polygraph is very discouraging cause I know a lot of people fail it. I’m curious to know how long they will take to schedule fitness
@@hernand7466 shouldn’t take that long, bro. Mine was like 2 weeks after eqip, I was supposed to have my interview this Friday, but they flaked, I called and it’s happening to a lot of candidates, don’t get discouraged, you won’t get withdrawn. Don’t get your hopes down, go in there & make that polygraph yo bitch lol. Be confident.
I take the entrance exam tomorrow, I’m going to be a CBP officer so we have an additional arithmetic and writing section. A little nervous about the math because I’ve never been too good at it 😂
Heys what’s up bro! First of all congratulations!!! Second, I have a quick question soooo my credit is not really good 😢 do you think I can get disqualified? I’m already working out that with a debt settlement company I already pass the test and I received the conditional job offer and I have my ID and everything Ty!
I'm working in the oilfield industry at the moment but I do want to become CBP or BP one day. That was my plan initially but things got in the way so I got my CDL and started working in the oilfield the only problem is that the oilfield is not guaranteed.. Company starts to cut wages and decrease expenses and there you go looking for another company. I will be applying soon I hope. How long was the Academy.? How was it?
Thanks for sharing dude. I was looking through careers today and thought to myself fuck it, why not. Do they assign you the places where you are gonna work or do you get to choose the part of the border you work in?
I chose south tx when I applied but my understanding is they send you final offer with stations that need the help. If you did apply I wish you the best of luck and if your thinking about it JUST DO IT
I applied for firefighter in Detroit i did my interview 2 weeks ago and feel like i didnt do good at all myself I still dont know if im being considered or not but seeing this video made me feel a little more confidant when you mentioned you also feel like you didn't do good lol even though its a different career
@@dakeesdakejetton576 i studied, they asked me 6 questions but you dont know what theyre going to be and i havent taken any courses, i dont have experience. Anyways If anyones wandering they offered me the job 🙂 and gave me a start date coming up in a few weeks for fire academy.
how critical were they with you on your job history? did they do the psychical yet? i dont mean the pt test. i mean the actual physical exam. did they look down your throat?
Passed everything except the scenario questions, I was super excited that I was passing everything, any tips for me? I would like to re apply in the near future
im in highschool hitting the gym getting ready to apply for the border patrol once i get out of highschool im really neevous for the exams i know fitness wise i will be ready.
I have a question, I am currently in the process of becoming a correctional officer but it’s been 6 months and no phone call after I sent in my background paperwork. This video seems like you have went through many steps swiftly and I was wondering is it true all of you are going through the process fast? As far as CBP.
Hey Mike, thanks for the info brother. Could you please upload a video after you take your polygraph? Without giving much detail. Your overall experience. I had mine 2 months ago. Good luck man.
My son passed everything except the polygraph test. I felt he was discriminated the time of the polygraph. He stated that the office wanted him to admit to something he has never done. He did not get another opportunity to re take the test. Now he has to wait two years to reapply.
Words of wisdom don't just think about the money you will be making because when you're working evenings, graveyard, holidays and weekends you will think twice. The worst part is the mandatory overtime also known as forced overtime, when you're working back to back to back 16hr shifts it gets old really quick there is no work life balance, so you married guys make your wife is on board and how do I know this? I am a former CBP Officer....good luck.
What’s up man! Thanks for the video. In the process now but one question. For the fitness test are the 20 push-ups continuous in 1 minute or are you allowed to stop in between ?
Hi! I’m currently in the process & go for my Structured Interview in a few weeks. I was glad to see you have a hand tattoo because I do as well…although I see as you stated it’d bd advised to have it removed. Do you remember when you applied & they asked “Could you comply” with the tattoo policy if you selected Yes or No, because I definitely selected No & am honestly surprised they continued on with my application.
@@heatup3059 so when I go for my in person interview do you suggest I cover it? I think I'm just concerned now the guy is saying they told him to get it removed because I can definitely cover it and I'm also confused that if it states in the application it's not permitted to have any on the hands then how did I move forward. Just a lot of confusion lol.
I have tattoos on my hand, neck, etc. On top of that am at a busy POE. I don’t believe they will tell you to remove it. BUT EVERYTHING IS PORT SPECIFIC.
@@heatup3059 Thank you so much for your feedback, it definitely makes me feel 10X better about the process now. Do you have any suggestions on how to kill it with the interviews and polygraph?
Hey man you're gonna get there as long as you put in work. I'm waiting for the next email. Got the results that I passed last week I took mine online. I've been looking online but isn't listed on their website, Whats the requirement on the 1.5 mile run on the physical test?. Also I honestly suck at interviews but I will try my best when the time comes.
Hey man I am trying to get into CBP but I am 18 years old and I never thought of becoming a border patrol agent I am really confident I can get in I am in very good shape i use to run track and cross country and I don’t really like college do you have to be 21 one years old or older To apply ?
Read the questions and available answers carefully. Use a process of elimination, discard the obvious wrong responses and concentrate on the remaining answers. I recommend taking it online so that you can read the answers to yourself out loud.
@@The_viewer16it’s one of those tests that just may so many words bunched up but gotta just focus on the facts and that’s it weed out all the other nonsense bs it tells you about this or that. Just got the faces get to the point and don’t over think it.
wait, you don't need your GED or Diploma? I thought you needed that at the bare minimum and some college is preferred.i am so confused lol can you clarify ?
