Consider this modification only if you prefer comfort over sporty. I did this modification because i wanted more comfort in city riding and i really like my CBR and dont want to sell it for some other motorcycle dor this reason.
Handle bar used- Honda stunner handle with T stem mounts and 4 bolts. ( much higher and comfortable than pulasr 180 handlebar )
Accelerator cable used - Hero Honda Karizma.
Clutch cable used - Honda Unicorn.
Need to cut the upper ends of visor little bit to make clearance during full turning.
12mm holes need to be precisely drilled into the T stem for fixing the handle bar mounts.
6 mm holes for the throttle.
I also fitted bar end weights from old handle to new handle to reduce vibrations. This also needs some lathe work. Stunner handlebar does not come with bar weights.
Some common doubts i would like to answer are-
1. Vibrations : There is no vibration at all with this setup. I feel the vibrations are lesser compared to the original handle. ( some people use pulsar 180 handlebar which can cause some vibrations. Stunner handlebar is solid Metal on both ends and is heavy which buffers the vibrations to a great extent)
2. What all has to be changed : only clutch cable and accelerator cable needs to be changed. Brake hose does not require change in CBR Standard models. In ABS models some modifications are required. Which can be asked to the mechanic.
3. Wind blast : i didn't feel much difference compared to original setup.
4. Ride : It is very relaxed and upright now . No strain in wrist and shoulder in city riding. Longer handle provides easy maneuverability. Yes its not as sporty as before in direction changes.
5. Looks : if so conscious about looks and details don't go for this. But personally i feel it is not that evident in terms of looks if done neatly.
So in a nutshell, Honda reliability and smoothness, full fared bike with no wind blast, upright riding posture. What else you want from a motorcycle.
