Great list! It’s such a shame that hardly anyone my generation knows who the Osmonds are. Older people are always shocked when they learn that I not only know of the Osmonds, but actually love them. They were so criminally underrated and to this day, Donny Osmond is still such an underrated performer and deserves an icon status.
@StephenSchnee
@StephenSchnee 2 года назад
One thing I've noticed about younger generations is that they are either completely tuned into music from the past OR they are completely oblivious to it. There really is no in between from what I've encountered. So thank you for being on the right side of music history! :) And thanks for watching and commenting!

They were not underrated at all in the 70's!!!! They were SO famous in America, England, Japan and also in Scandinavia,allthough they never were that popular here in Scandinavia.

@@mrsTraveller64 In the '70s, they were on top of the world. But today, people don't give them credit for what they accomplished then... or now!

@@StephenSchnee well, the Osmond-fans still recognize them today and listen to their music. Personally I don't like Donny's recent albums as they are not in my taste at all, there is nothing "Osmond" about them. Not in the melodies nor the lyrics. I find them boaring. So I do understand that people don't care about his albums of the past 10-20 years, but people still love Crazy horses and their old albums.

Any group or artist last forever, the only reason why we are watching this, is because youtube exists. Where is Madonna now? anybody know, and she was a big icon in the 80´s and 90´s, even in the early 2000 with Britney. So, why Donnie Osmond should be different? Sorry but I disagree, he had his time to shine, as every singer has. The fact is that he still wants to live from her fame and make money out of it, that is why he and his siblings appear once in a while. But they represent the early 70´s and that´s it. I was a kid in the 70´s and remember the Osmonds until, may be, 1976, after that, for me, it was the Bee Gees and all the disco music. In the 80´s we didn´t remember even who the Osmonds were, just the shining teeth but it was time for the 80´s music.

Great list! My favorite is "Are You Up There." I love all their music. I did not discover them to 1972. I was a huge Elvis Presley fan. They were friends with Elvis and he suggested them to wear the one piece jumpsuits as well as adding karate moves into their act. They would go to his show in Vegas and he went to theirs. They used to visit with him in his hotel in Vegas. He loved their mom and would call her just to talk alot esp about religion.

I grew up with the Osmonds also. They were and still are so talented, now they are retired except Donny and Marie and no one gave them credit for all their talent back then because people, mainly guys who listened to Led Zeppelin, etc. thought they were goody two shoes and clean cut image and "Bubble Gum" style music. NOW, people have gotten older and have started listening to their music, realizing they missed out on some amazing talent and awesome music that the Osmond's wrote themselves. Sad, now we are older, and the Osmonds are just now getting the respect they deserved! Thank you for this video.

Great video, Steve. Like you, I had sisters who were Osmonds fans, so I became intimate with their catalogue. I'm glad you chose a lot of deep cuts, because that's where the good stuff is for me. In many cases, I loved the B-sides. Songs that have to be in my top 10 are "Flirtin' which has so many musical directional changes, it was like a miniature play, "Keep On My Side," which is P-fun, "One Way Ticket to Anywhere," which is great hard rock Osmonds, and their most bluesy deep cut, "Life is Hard Enough Without Goodbyes."

I to will always Love The Osmonds especially Donny, My top 10 would be .1. Puppy Love-Donny 2. Twelve of Never-Donny. 3. Love me for a Reason. 4. He ain't Heavy His My Brother. 5. Through The Years. 6. The Proud One. 7. Let Me In. 8 A Million to One-Donny. 9. Whenever Your in Trouble-Donny. 10. Crazy Horses. Donny's Puppy Love is my all time No. 1 favourite song. I love everything they've done, they were so very young when they started out, yet, they seemed older than their years for the music they wrote and performed. Their harmonies are beautiful they have the ability to make me cry, to remember happy and sad times, so thank you for this.

Well done Stephen. Back then I was a teenager in the early seventies and I could listen to all kinds of music and I still do. I mean one day I could put on Led Zeppelin and the next day I could put on the Osmonds was no big deal to me. I loved all kinds of music and still do. One song you left out and I will argue with anybody to the death about this track being better than The Hollies version. I might have to fist fight Brinley 😀. But I swear the B-side to One bad Apple He ain't Heavy- He's My brother is the best version I've ever heard. Especially that huge ending. I enjoyed this video and hopefully on Ski Lodge on Tuesday I'll be hearing a little Emitt Rhodes "She's such a Beauty"😀 Take Care Stephen

First off, thank you for watching! And in regards to the Osmonds, Crazy Horses and Phase III are their best albums. If you are a vinyl person, try those first. If you also buy CDs, there are a few great comps out there including Osmondsmania, which features nearly all the songs in my Top 10 (plus more). The only album by the original 5 Osmonds brothers (1970-1976) that I'm not fond of is Homegrown. It has some good songs but it is a carbon copy of their self-titled debut album, which is a very strong collection of Bubblegum pop!

Great song list, however, for me, there are so many great songs that were never released as singles, which most of this list is. Almost every song on "The Plan" album puts Go Away Little Girl to shame! As you stated, Crazy Horses is full of great songs. There are a couple really good songs on the Steppin Out album. Love Gotta Get Love and Emily.

As shown on 9:47 it’s also one of the titled track from the proud one in different press release like 👍 Germany but USA got the proud one but Germany got I’m still gonna need you for their titled track which I find that very interestingly cool 😎 and cool 😎 for an osmond album 💿.

I think I may love "I'm Still Gonna Need You" more than "Love Me For a Reason"... and I loooooove "Love Me For a Reason"!

Do you remember the song “Flirtin’”? I loved it and thought it should have been more of a hit.

In the 1970s I was in a classroom with a teenaged guy ( about 17 or 18 years old) who considered himself a Rocn "n"" Roll purist and he thought of the Osmonds and their music as complete crap to put it mildly. He also hated The Carpenters, The Jackson 5, Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods, KC and the Sunshine Band, ABBA, and other soft pop, bubble-gum groups. He loved KISS though and he was always acting like "The FOnz."

Well, you just named some of my favorite groups (apart from KISS), so I guess I'm the Potsie to your old classmate's Fonz! :)

Yes, that's what I've been hearing in many of the RU-vid video interviews I came across!

Sweet and innocent on the osmonds album don’t have the guitar 🎸 but donny osmond album 💿 does have the guitar 🎸 so the one ☝ on donny osmond album of sweet and innocent probably re recorded that song off on donny osmond album 💿 and the one from the osmonds album 💿 has a very unique different osmond sound.

It could be a re-recording but I'm thinking just a different mix? I'll have to investigate further....
