CD009 Transmission Swap - Part 1

We are back at it again trying to find a solution to our never ending transmission woes on the Z. In this episode we begin the swap of a CD009 transmission from a 350Z by using a JWT transmission adapter plate and the bell housing from an automatic Z32 transmission.
In the next episode for the transmission we will be mounting it to the engine and seeing what further modifications need to be done for us to use the stock Z31 flywheel and starter.
The new torque wrench I found is the ACDelco ARM601-4 which I purchased on Amazon.

Interesting project. Ive been interested in seeing a six speed in a z31, so nice to see someone attempting it. Good luck

Hay man great video! Really enjoyed it. This is a long shot and I believe you had the same issue in the past with your z I have a 86na and today I drove it for the first time after repairing a bad fuel rail leak, one of your videos helped with that as well! Anyways the car died after 3 mins of driving it and then I fired it back up and it died again only this time it will not stay running. I believe you had an issue where the car prior to running would prime and build a little pressure and fire up but would lose pressure kuz the pump wouldn't work after that point, I believe I'm going to have to change the pump, I just wanted to make sure this is not something due to the FPR fuel pressure regulator, I don't think so because I understand how they work, either the car runs lean or rich, I don't think it would cause the car not to stay running, I did just change all the spark plugs as well so there is no carbon build up. But anyways man your thoughts would greatly help me! As always I love your videos man they are a huge help and you explain things in high detail!

Hey man I have a dumb question for you if you mind so I just made my own engine harness(tucked under dash, extended wires off stock harness), how do I get a signal from things like IAT, AFR, ect to microsquirt? Thank you.

Which bell housing are you using to bolt to the z33 box?

Did you end up putting a LSD in your Z? If so what did you put in and did you have a video on it?

I haven't done anything with the rear end yet. It's still the stock open dif. But I probably will be upgrading it for reliability of the axles

@@TheZGarage I would have thought the splines it cvs would be the problem. From what I know turbo vs n/a driveshafts use the same splines and cvs. Unless you were doing something different all together

Why not use a VG33 block?? Or why not use VG33 heads on the VG30 block with the z31 cams???? You have the money 🤑💰.

If the stock engine can make the power I am looking for, there's no reason to switch to anything else. It would just be more expensive for no real gain.
