During her surgery, Sharon’s voice box was removed (called a laryngectomy). A hole (also called a stoma) was placed in her neck to let her breath because her trachea (breathing tube) is no longer connected to her mouth and throat. Sharon uses an electronic voice box (electrolarynx) to speak. The electrolarynx is held against the neck and makes vibrations, which allows her to speak.
As someone who is on the path to quitting, I highly recommend never starting... You can save your body a lot of trouble. I am blessed in that I have been healthy but if I stay on the path of smoking then I would be doomed.
I quit for 5 years and then started up again. Trying to quit again. Second time around is harder than the first. I watch videos like these to remind myself why it’s so important to quit.
Well if you wanna scare people these days not to smoke, this sure could work................Never smoking, I see my parents do it and all I'm thinking is why..............? No point whatsoever.......cigarettes should be BANNED.
In my life, I have smoked one cigarette. I was 15. Never will I ever smoke again. My aunt and uncle used to smoke, until my younger cousins saw a video of Terrie Hall, and it scared the hell outta them, and they pleaded their parents to quit, so they did. Please don’t smoke, you might think it makes you look cool, but is it really cool when you have cancer? No it’s not. Last year, someone in the marching band found out they had testicular cancer, and milked it for the sympathy. Cancer isn’t a joke. It’s not always from smoking, but it’s a contributing factor.
She doesnt put that in her stoma, its a device that produces special vibrations on her chin/neck to help produce some sound so you can hear/understand her.
It's so sad and creepy... I wouldn't want to life a life like this.. I would rather die if I'd loose my voice... :( I'll never start to smoke !! NEVER !!
I use to for almost 30 years I'm so glad I quit only I say to those is quit before its to late.life is short as it is don't make it any shorter by smoking we have kids dying everyday from cancer and we got smoking to get cancer go fiqure rite.
Zayn is a smoker, oh my god, i can't imagine how hurt he'd feel if that happened to him. As hard as it is if you smoke you must quit, whether it's by nicorette gum, nicotine patch, or whatever, doing something is better than nothing. If you don't smoke don't even try, please, please don't try, cause it'll be hard to quit once you become addicted to it
Continue: but i know i cant smoke 1 or 2 cigs a day, and i dont want to either cause 1 cig a day can easily become 1 pack a day. And really no-one really needs cigarette you learned to need them. Ive self-studied the whole addiction and i know quitte well whats going on in. Search YT and internet to learn about your addiction and withdrawalsymtoms it will make quitting lots easier.
To the people who still smoking, no matter what age do you really want to smoke till you die? Im 21 ive smoked for 7 years and am now quitting (day 16) i think about smoking every day till now and had some worse days. But thinking about smoking doesnt do anything good and the fact do i really wanna (or better sayd need) to smoke for another 50 years? (or 40 maybe) No i dont want that either. Im at the stage of i wanna smoke 1 or 2 a day but not everyday and sure ass hell not for 40-50 years.
A stoma is a port in a body. It is created by a surgeon. I had a temporary stoma for my digestive system. A bag was used to collect the fluid which stung but smelled like bread.
so instead of spending money on cigarettes. Spend it on food, shelter and medical care? You know how much money the government saves if cancer/heart attack rate goes ways down due to less people smoking? People like your only look at the short term benefit while totally ignoring the long term benefits this campaign brings to our society
She looks good though for a 52 year old white woman, with cancer, and a hole in her neck. And this is not to be funny. I didnt expect her to be in her 50's. Still sad that ppl still smoke
OMG !! Havin 2 put that thing inside the hole nd pushin it everytime she wants 2 talk, that is SO creepy nd horrible. I kno that there's sum butiful ppl out there that smokes all the time (women nd men), plz stop smokin, I'm beggin u. Even if I don't kno u, in God hands, we're a family, but I'm beggin u 2 stop... Unless u want 2 be like her, plz stop !!! Because idk what's so important bout smokin. Are u trying 2 be cool or just stressed or even addicted, stop it !! Telling u that 4 yo own good.
it absolutely amazes me that, with MANY Americans hungry, homeless, without proper medical care, etc., the Government (CDC) has MILLIONS to spend today to tell us smoking is dangerous. It's an absolute joke...
