@@vetwaytransportation I understand. My authority isn’t active yet. I thought about leasing first but in NY the prices are 3x higher. Not worth it. I thought about buying a Ram with sleeper. I’ve my CDL class B. I know that setup isn’t rite for me.
Awesome videos bro, out of all the different videos I watched, yours was the most informative and visual as far as backing your trailer to your truck and loading. I’m getting ready to get started with mine real soon with this same setup. Do you have any advice for me as far as what to look for and be careful about?
I appreciate it. No specific advise other than to be legit with all of your paperwork and keep your logs up. Be ready to be singled out by DOT. I’ve been inspected 4 times within a months time. I’ve had no issues with them but could easily be the other way around if my things weren’t in order.
Trailer paid 10k cash. Truck I put down close to 30k. Truck was 67k. Got 3% apr on the remaining balance. I could’ve gotten everything with 0 down but that would’ve made my overhead ridiculous.
Hey my man whats your total lenght? I have an f550 long wheel base but when i measure 15' from the front it would place my 5th wheel right behind my crew cab ...im trying to understamd how u guys are staying under 65' lenght?
Do you know if I take the flat bed off my truck will they consider it a tractor and I'll be exempt from the 65' limit also? Otherwise I'll sell my truck and get a single axle semi
Yes if you remove the bed you can register it as a tractor and be fine. I had 6 inspections in that setup and never had a problem though. However each state is different.
Great setup. I have been hauling a 2 car trailer with my F250 for the past 2.5 years. I just bought a new F350 dually and want a 3 car wedge trailer. What rating in lbs is your 5th wheel? also, did you have to get apportioned plates for trailer and truck? My biggest question is did you have to get your registration changed saying you can pull 25,000lbs or something else? I do have a CDL from driving semis. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks 🫡. My 5th wheel is rated for 25K. Yes all CDL setups have to have apportioned plates. The apportioned plates should be registered at the most you can haul without exceeding the gvwr of your truck and trailer combined.
Exactly.. I had mine registered at 40k. That was too much because my truck and trailer couldn’t legally carry 40k. That’s also important because the more you’re registered at the more expensive your plates will be.
@@vetwaytransportation Never asked you to debate, and I couldn't care less either! I've been a CDL-A CDL-A Owner Operator for over 30 years; have a BEAUTIFUL Peterbilt, and I know better. Good luck to YOU!
