Couple corrections: Stinger was at Dorney Park, not Valleyfair. Also, Carolina Cyclone opened in 1980, not 1973. The first Arrow to go upside down was Corkscrew at Knott's Berry Farm in 1975 (which, of course, is now at Silverwood)

Valleyfair is my home park, and the only coaster I see getting removed in the next five years is Steel Venom. It was closed for about 5 or 6 weeks this summer, I saw electrical crews working on it over multiple visits. With Wicked Twister gone, Volcano gone, and Flash at Discovery Kingdom operating extremely sporadically or not at all over the last two years, 20 years seems like the shelf life for the impulse models. Corkscrew is one of the less popular coasters at VF, but it routinely has a line around 6 trains long, and it’s not very rough. Considering that Cedar Fair hasn’t added a new coaster to VF since Renegade in 2007, I doubt they’d take out Corkscrew since it’s right in the middle of the park and is the parks only coaster with inversions. Excalibur is more likely to go than Corkscrew, but that flood plain you mentioned (which both Excalibur and Renegade are part of, and both rides were 100% designed with that in mind) is actually the main reason why Excalibur won’t be removed as soon as people think. The city of Shakopee denied Valleyfair a permit to build a parking lot for soak city on the plot of Excalibur, and they aren’t allowed to do any other development in that plot for now. They took the second train out of storage this year, even if it mostly just sat on the transfer track. Plus, Excalibur got a brand new control panel sometime during 2020.

Well this is an uplifting video, Coaster Deaths. NOT, Gemini isn't going anywhere CP has a dedicated and devoted crew to maintain this coaster for almost indefinitely. I'm not a fan of Corkscrew anymore but still ride it for nostalgic and bruising purposes. The iconic history and beauty of Corkscrew is amazing even if it sits and rust is fine by me. @TheRealPSKilla502 Год назад
I think Invertigo is safe for the time being, but after whatever replaces Vortex gets built, I expect the Bat to be on its way out. @@TheRealPSKilla502 I think I saw The Bat is getting its trains repainted over the off-season. It’s not going anywhere.
@chekherjoy
@chekherjoy Год назад
Invertigo is probably the next to go at Kings Island, but not for a coaster that goes over their entrance. Kings Island takes a lot of pride in their history and sets themselves up as a family park. They want the separation from the parking lot that the block of the front entrance gives them. They also have the bigger coasters out in the back parts of the park. Their focus is literally the Eiffel Tower and figuratively the entire family. A coaster as the first thing you see isn't their style. Coaster enthusiasts are part of that family, but not their focus the way Cedar Point's is. Invertigo is in the worst shape in Kings Island's line up. But with Vortex's plot empty, I don't think Invertigo is gone in 5 years though. They just trimmed their end of life coasters, The Bat and Invertigo aren't there yet. With the Bat being the last Arrow Suspended coaster with the kinks worked out in the design, it has some time left.

@christhickson7950
@christhickson7950 Год назад
Vortex is actually a great suspended coaster. Despite its short height and length, it blazes through its layout and does exactly what a suspended coaster should do. I can't see it being removed until it absolutely needs to be. As for Dragon Fyre, Leviathan being built over top of it will make removal more difficult and a replacement ride also more difficult.
@CJWJR
@CJWJR 5 месяцев назад
Originally named "Superman", the Nighthawk has always had a very long wait time in the line, partially due to maintenance issues mentioned in the video. I rode it once several years ago at night right before the park closed because that's when the line was at its shortest. However, it wasn't as good of an experience as I thought it would have been...I guess because it was harder to see where we were going despite the park being well-lit. If it weren't for the jets flying over the park on final approach to CLT, I wouldn't have gotten the sensation that I was "flying" 😄. If I remember correctly, The Carolina Cyclone's corkscrews were rough on my neck the last time I rode it...which has been close to 10 years ago now. However, The Vortex wasn't as rough of a ride from what I recall. As far as The Hurler is concerned, it might be a rough wooden coaster, but it's SOO much better than the late Thunder Road twin coasters that were torn down in 2015 to make room for the water park expansion.

@chekherjoy
@chekherjoy Год назад
Gemini is also really high capacity and is a bigger Arrow mine ride. If the mine rides from the 60s are fine, Gemini isn't in much danger. I personally think it needs new sensors that let it run in the rain, but it's not near end of life yet. Both Gemini and Iron Dragon are really popular family rides at a park that needs them. The Wild Mouse is going to help a lot but it's filling the huge hole of CP needing family coasters. Corkscrew and Rougarou are the two in danger by roughness and ridership.

I feel that if one coaster got janked from Michigan's Adventure, it would be their wild mouse. Cedar Fair/ MI Adventure is all about upgrades and yes, they go unnoticed. It's no secret that Michigan's Wild Mouse has one of the worst capacities in the company. With Michigan's Adventure's business plan of being family first as a starter park to the graduation to take the drive to Cedar Point, I feel that their Wild Mouse could get got/ and then replaced by the new model that Cedar Point will open up in 4 months if it goes well.

As for CP, I disagree with pretty much all of your choices. I think Gemini would have gone by now, and as its fairly tame I don't see service life issues. Corkscrew is too compact for anything useful to occupy its land. The big looming problem is Magnum's service life. I think the vast majority of us would prefer that this be kept in original condition as long as possible. I just don't see it though with how intense this ride is. The hope is that Morgan can come in and do a bang up job, preserving its finale of airtime hills. The worst possible scenario is it being axed for a B&M Hyper.
@Fools_Requiem
@Fools_Requiem Год назад
What if the B&M hyper followed the same layout as Magnum just with some more refined changes to the course to make certain things smoother? The problem I'd see with removing Magnum is that their requirement to load the trains as quickly as possible goes out the window.

Kings island closed vortex because of the ground kings island sits on. I live in ohio and I can say the ground is very fertile causing it to be easy to sink into it under enough pressure. With vortex reusing the old bat’s supports they sunk into the ground quicker. Ending its service life. Also also I’d like to add that Ki got rid of 2 coasters back to back season. I would cry if possessed got removed before I could ride it cause thats one of the last things the survied the closure of my home park Geuaga lake

I would ride it sooner than later. IMO Dorney is going to get a coaster in the next 5 years and it's likely going to replace Possessed. Don't forget Dominator at KD was relocated from Geagua Lake too!

Cyclone at Carowinds cannot be gone quick enough. I think Vortex could shine with better trains. Hurler needs the RMC treatment. Night Hawk has new/rework restraints/trains and was just painted. It’s open much more often. Flying cobra also got restraint updates. Carowinds purchased a bunch of land and has favorable tax breaks from NC and SC. I think the future is very bright. ❤. Went to KD yesterday for the first time and I found not much redeeming about it. They shamed the Intimidator name with the 305 hunk of junk. Twisted Timers was good. Dominator good. Everything else was lacking.

Correct, I misspoke when I said it closed at Valleyfair. I believe it closed in 2013 at Dorney.

Xcelerator is going nowhere, a change to LSM launch could occur if they want to improve down time. The cost of that change is much less than all they are doing to a much older coaster Monteezuma & less popular.

I thought about that one and it's possible. If it does get taken out I think CP will get a modern Vekoma mine train or family launch like Firechaser Express.

Cedar Fair has done a great job ruining Kings Dominion was such a good park when Paramount ran it but Cedar Fair had been doin a wonderful job at getting more and more people to convert to Busch Gardens Williamsburg which is only a hour away from KD

When you had intimidator 305 on screen, then switched to Anaconda, I did the full Tony Stark relief meme. Nothing against anaconda, I personally like the rough old boys like anaconda and grizzly, but I’d much prefer to see it go over Intimidator, which I know is generally disliked as well.

Nooooo! I don't care if KD already has Twisted Timbers, RMC needs to "take care of" Grizzly. That's a great piece of land that goes through the trees. The ride itself is so terrible

Kinda surprised there was no mention of i305. It's been down, a lot over the past 10 years. Heck half the year last year i305 was closed, and when it was open, there was literally no line. I305 is popular with enthusiasts, but not the GP. I could see them replacing it with a B&M giga. Supposedly KD has something in the works for Volcano. They keep releasing mini teasers, but never actually saying anything. Still hoping for a large, launched S&S Axis. Anaconda is gonna be removed. Hopefully replaced with a custom next-gen Vekoma. For Cedar Point; I see corkscrew being removed before Gemini (as Gemini is less intense and has less stress of the tracks and supports). Iron Dragon will be removed before Gemini. Side note: really hoping Chance Rides comes in and retracks Magnum XL-200 so it's actually smooth/properly banked and fun, and puts on better trains.

I think before the Bat and Invertigo get removed, Adventure Express needs to go. It was there before both rides, and was the last coaster Kings Island put in before Paramount took over. That thing is rough and the transitions suck. This ride is a prime example of why Arrow coasters don't age well.
@chekherjoy
@chekherjoy Год назад
Adventure Express is getting a new area themed focused on it. It's not leaving soon, especially not in the next five years. It's also one of the last mine rides Arrow built and their original ones are still around. Kings Island has plenty of space to work with and doesn't need Adventure Express's plot. Just don't ride it if you hate it. I hate Steel Vengeance, but I don't think it needs to be removed. Not every coaster needs to be for every person.
