Cedar Point as been one of my home parks for decades. I have been going to that park since the early 70's. I have watched, owned and seen just about every Cedar Point video there is, to an extent. There are thousands of Cedar Point related videos online and I know I will never watch them al. However, I am glad when someone takes the time to put together such a fun and chill video that can appeal to everyone. Seriously, this is one of the best Cedar Point videos I have seen since I have been going to the park. You are such a great storyteller not only with your commentary, but but the shots you choose. Pure gold! Great job!
Oh Wow Thank you so much Sean!!!! Means so much!!! Your incredible collection of footage deserves to be in a museum!!! Cedar Point is such a special park!!!
Wow, that ending had me in tears. There is nothing more pure than the love a parent has for their child. Or maybe it made me cry because i was cutting onions (for real xD). This is by far your best video yet! I love your content so much!!!
That ending made my heart melt, so I don't think it was just the onions. Really painted the picture of sitting in that seat, but paying more attention to your own kid (from a guy that doesn't have any yet) than to the coaster itself.
I re watch this video every couple months or so........ while I don't have steel vengeance to ride with my kids, I got to experience my first RMC At the same time my 10 year old daughter....... twisted cyclone, and we get to do iron gwazi together in about 2 months. Someone must be cutting onions in here, my eyes are watering
I've never seen a a roller coaster documentary that has been this well made. From the music to the clips to the narration, all perfect. And that ending of course left an emotional punch. Keep up the great work! :)
You’re a great dad! I watched this with my 6 year old daughter (tomorrow’s her first trip to cedar point!) and the end made me tear up. I’m so excited for her to experience all of the coasters and get that same feeling I got on my first trip to cedar point.
Phenomenal as always! 👏🏿👏🏿 Absolutely love the family inclusion with the kids. Grooming young enthusiasts. I don't know if I've been more motivated to go to cedar point now.
OH HOW I HAVE MISSED YOU!!! Seriously, I was starting to get worried. And then while I was out working I got the notification that not only was there a new video from Okaycoasters, but it was a nearly 20 minute docu on the history of CP coasters. After what has been a brutal and at times depressing summer, you definitely made my day. This is by in far the best roller coaster video of the year. Job well done sir.
@@Okaycoasters Well your videos make my day. I've been inspired by your work to start up my own coaster channel but thanks to the beer flu I had to cancel my road trip to CP till next year. Then again I might start up a board game channel (Since there are so few, lol). Keep up the great work.
Cedar Point. Gosh the memories. From the mid-80s to mid 90s I'd go multiple times a year. Sometimes with the family. Sometimes with friends. Blue Streak, Corkscrew, Gemini.....it was always exciting to see what would come out next. Then I moved to STL and realized how spoiled I had been all those years. Incredible location. Incredible rides. Incredible memories. LONG LIVE THE ROLLER COAST!!
Cedar Point eluded me my whole life due to just well... life being life... Last year my wife and my 13 and 15 year old set out for a 3 day stay and it was one of the most FUN times we have ever had. My kids loved all the coasters and it is BY FAR my favorite park i have ever been to. Great Video!
I had the same experience late this season with my daughter! We went to CP on an impulse after having been to KI the Sunday before for the 8th time that season. She had never been to CP and all the POV's and talking about how great it was came to head when the first ride of the day was Steel Vengeance front row! Like she said afterwards, "I screwed like a baby and said all the words!" She was hooked and I've never seen a smile like that on her ever! Its been 11 days now and we still havent taken our Fast Passes off and we touch them each day like they are our super powers coming together. It truely was the greatest day ever with her! Ty for the documentary and I will def be sharing it with her!
I can think of only one thing that could make your footage better... Full coaster trains! (Thanks, COVID!) Maybe next year. Seriously, I am completely impressed by your footage. The way you use angles and lighting within your shot to capture the depth of field makes everything look great. Even the zoomed shots of Steel Vengeance were excellent. Maybe some day you'll be able to bring your equipment into the que. Or maybe just a cell phone. It is obvious that you put tons of work into storyboarding your videos and writing meaningful commentary. Your music choices are very good, and your narration always sounds like we're sipping iced tea on your front porch. So personal and so professional at the same time. For me, all these things make your videos memorable and make me want to share them with others. Your tribute to your son brought tears to my eyes as well. I have such fond memories of riding all the coasters at Cedar Point with my son (now 21) and my daughter (17). They grow up fast so don't miss out on even the most seemingly insignificant moments. Thanks for adding that personal touch to your videos. Keep up the great work!
I always have to brace myself for your videos, and when I saw this title, I knew I needed to set aside the time and prepare for this one. Whatever kind of style your videos would be called, you are by far the best! And when you started talking about riding Steel Vengeance with your kids, that really got me. Who started peeling the onions? You're the best youtuber, but an even better dad.
Just visited there August 29th. Great time to visit. Very light crowds that time of year. Around 20 minutes for the Millennium Force. That was the longest all day
After watching your video, I have to say you have been able to bring out the same level of thrill, excitement, fun, and nostalgia that a visit to Cedar Point has. I worked at the park as a ride operator from 2000 - 2003. In that time, I was blessed to have worked on several coasters. Among those were Raptor, Millennium Force, Disaster Transport, Wicked Twister, and Mantis. I also was given the opportunity to experience some of the smaller rides. Space Spiral, Big Wheel, and Schwabinchen. ( Sadly, Schwabinchen, Space Spiral, and Disaster Transport are no longer there. ) Each one brought with it a unique experience. From the sights and the sounds of the coaster in operation to the amazing people and crews I got to interact with, each one holds a special place in my memory and heart. Your video brought me back to that special place and time. I found myself with a smile ear to ear and, at times, had to choke back a tear or two. Thank you for this wonderful tribute to Cedar Point.
Same here!! Ran the Rotor, Funhouse, Sky Ride, and Wildcat in 1980, Demon Drop and Kiddie Land in 1990, and the Hotel Breakers in 1991. Being an employee was the best job ever!! Now, I'm doing some part time work at Cedar Point this Coronavirus 19 season in Food Operations, and I still love it!! It really IS a place like no other!
This is hands down the best tribute to Cedar Point I have ever seen. It had me excited with chills all throughout. However, the end of the video literally brought me to tears. I had this exact same experience with my daughter earlier this year. Her first ever "big" coaster was Steel Vengeance. Initially she was terrified, but after that first hill a terrific smile appeared on her face and in that moment she became a roller coaster enthusiast like her Dad. We will forever share that first ride on Steel Vengeance with each other. That moment was rare and fleeting and powerful, and you summed it up perfect here in this video. Happy tears. Thank you! Subscribed.
Oh to the creator of this documentary, if Cedar Point doesn’t make you their official spokesperson, THEY SHOULD!! This is a masterpiece! VERY NICELY DONE!!!
I have so many memories of this park. While I went in previous years, 1996 is the first visit I really remember. I was with family and friends, and I was a scaredy cat, lol. I hated heights, and I refused to go on anything that went upside down. That is until my friends peer pressured me into trying the Witches Wheel. Turns out, going upside down is really, really fun, and Raptor would be my first "big girl" coaster. A few years later I would again be peer pressured, but this time onto Magnum, and I loved it. Which of course meant that when Millennium Force was introduced, I had no excuse not to try it. But this time I nearly hyperventilated when I first saw it looming above the horizon, refused to speak to anyone in line, and, sadly, was too terrified to end up enjoying it. XD Seeing these coasters introduced in chronological order brought me back to those days, and the bit at the end made me wistful that I wasn't able to take my nephews this year. Last year was their first trip, and like me, they were scaredy cats, lol. But the older said he'd gotten the courage to finally try some of the bigger rides, and was disappointed he wouldn't get to this year. Maybe by next year he'll be ready to make an even bigger leap (though sadly there's no longer a Witches Wheel to get him used to going upside down).
This honestly has to be one of the best videos of Cedar Point I’ve seen in a LONG time. The editing, music, and general feel to the whole thing was absolutely amazing and so well done! Keep up the good work!! Thank you for this awesome upload man!
Hands down by far the best coaster channel on RU-vid!! Another great video!! Glad you're back. I've been waiting for your latest video release and in my opinion you picked the perfect amusement park and topic for your latest video. Continue the awesome work!
This is Incredible!! I could see this video winning in a film festival!! I love this documentary!! We need to create an Enthusiast film festival so this can win!
This is by far your best video so far and one of my favorite Cedar Point videos. Michael Jackson had "Thriller" as his Masterpiece and you have "Cedar Point The Winning Formula".
Love this video!! My son is 14 going on 15 and I’ll never forget 4 years ago when he road Dragster for the first time. He still has the photo on his dresser. We stayed 4 days and was the best vacation ever. Riding Mean-streak front row at night before it closed was awesome as well. Great memories and love this video!!
YES SIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I grew up here and feel so blessed for it! This video needs so much more attention because I think you've done more than just a great job at showing off everything we've accomplished through the years! Hope to see you again soon and maybe we can actually meet up and talk when you come back! Stay blessed and keep on going! I love what you're doing and know that there's plenty of others who do as well!
Its something special about being with your little ones on their 1st big ride! That will forever be worth whatever the price of the trip is! Salute brother #DadGang
Thanks for this lovely tribute to my childhood home park! Been coming to CP since 86. Working on overcoming major anxiety with hypercoasters so I still have a few credits to get here !!
2017 was your 1st time. Brother I've been going to cedar point since 1974. I've ridden every coaster they have. I'm 60 years old now and I love cedar point. I still hit those coasters and Raptor, Millennium, Top Thrill, Magnum XL, Maverick, Gemini, Steel Vengeance, The old Blue Streak, Gate Keeper, Demon Drop, Wicked Twister, Mantis now Rougarue, Sky Ride, Skyhawk, Disaster Transport, the old wild mouse, and many others keep me going back year after year. And i ride my motorcycle down from Ecorse Michigan to Sandusky Ohio 3 or 4 times a year. Its the Roller Coast baby.
Ok. I’m hooked on your content. My father took me to Cedar Point in 2000. As we drove up we saw Millie there, I was terrified. But I had my dad there with me, so I was good. Millie, Magnum, Maverick and Dragster (where I worked for 2 summers) were all first row, first rides with my dad. Thank you for this video, truly, from the bottom of my heart.
The ending though with the steel Vengeance drop holding on as tight as you can. So relatable because I held on so hard down that 1st drop… I finally faced my biggest fear of coasters. Did it recently and now I love them :D
OkayCoasters never finds a way to disappoint. Your name is ironic because these videos are some of the highest quality things I've ever seen on RU-vid. I don't think anybody else could do Cedar Point as much justice as you could. These videos are truly something special.
Ok, I've been going to this park since I was five and I'm now 53. I've ridden every one of these and many multiple times, not too mention the 1st year of Magnum and Millenium Force, but you failed to mention that Steel Vengenace was once Mean Streak, a bad ass wooden coaster in its day, but glad they repurposed it to what it has become, because it's AMAZING!!!!
We have been watching lots of Cedar Point videos getting the kids excited for their first trip there. This is such a fantastic video, the best I've seen.
Such a legendary collection of coasters. I’ve been going to cedar point since I was a Middleschooler, back in 2001. Thankful to say that I get to go in two days with my wife and kids. Love this park, and so proud to live in the same state as this gem.
This is probably my favorite Cedar Point video I’ve ever watched to date. The footage was incredible (I’d love to see a just video of your CP park footage btw) and the segment about Steel Vengeance made me feel like it was August 2019 and I was sitting in that train climbing the 205 foot tall lift hill about to start my favorite ride ever. Amazing job, and I’d love to see this style of video for other parks too cuz this was amazing
While I wouldn't call this a documentary, as it skips past much of the coasters and coaster-like rides the park has had, this video is PERFECT to hype someone up before coming to the park. Almost reminds me of a timeshare preview video, but without the want to stop it
Beautiful. I am so glad that my parents had the attitude that if we were tall enough..we were riding the ride. To this day we all ride everything in my family.
This was an awesome and in depth video. And the part at the end with your kids, amazing touch! I'm 37 and just went for my very first time July of this year and am already planning to go back in September!
I think its crazy that you make some of the best coaster content but only have 9k subs. And at the end it said please subscribe, man I did that on the first video of yours I had ever watched. Truly some incredible content and can't wait to so what's next from you. Keep of the great work.
Really good video! Very informative and really makes you appreciate how much Cedar Point has evolved and grown over the years. Stunning shots of the coasters also!
Another great video, as I've come to expect from you! The cinematography was great throughout. That intro sequence (at 0:58) was particularly cool, with that jammin' music coupled with those great shots. And those final words, addressed to your kids, was heartfelt -- a very nice touch to conclude the video!
So professional!!! I can tell you put so much time and effort into this. The footage was flawless per usual, editing was fantastic and even the music selection and timing made this video so enjoyable to watch! Great job 👍
Cedar Point was our ultimate destination as kids growing up in the 1960s. It gave me something to look forward while sitting in school over the long winters in Northeastern Ohio. We would talk about going in summer and spending the entire day there and Dad would count down the days on the wall calendar. Great memories even though it rained ever time we went!
I can honestly say I am one of Cedar Point’s biggest fans and love every aspect of this park! It’s not hard to see why it’s the crown jewel of the Cedar Fair parks! It on a spectacular location, one of the best on the planet in my opinion, and on a summer day off Lake Erie is a place you definitely want to be! Besides the coasters (Millennium Force is my baby, it kept me sane through the winter of 1999 watching it’s construction), the atmosphere of the park is second to none! If I had to go to only one park given an unlimited budget, Cedar Point would be dead first on my list! I love this place that much!!
Latecomer and new subscriber to your channel. You make some of the best produced RU-vid videos with top quality content that I've seen yet, period! Very awesome video - thank you! I've lived so much of this Cedar Point History from the mid 80s - thank you for putting this out there. Perfect A+.
An epic video fitting of such an epic park, and perfect timing with the 150th anniversary buzz, outstanding job! Cedar Point is our home park and this will be our go to video for getting family hyped to come out and visit us for a trip to Cedar Point next year - it's A Video Like No Other! Also, love seeing the content from somebody traveling with kids, our oldest is 44 inches so we're closing fast on the next 4 inches that will open the door to a new level of thrills!
Nice vid. Started going to CP in 1976 and haven't missed a year since.....until this one. Deciding not to go cuz of COVID and anticipation of a poor park experience. i've ridden every one of these though in each of their inaugural years. And now i'm passing this on to my kids, who have also been there every year of their lives. In my opinion, there's no better place on earth...
So I just came across your video and I have so much to say. First of all thank you for this great content, one of the best videos I've seen on RU-vid in a very long time. Your camera work and editing is perfect. Great choice of music!! Secondly the emotions I have in this video are there. I remember bagging my family to take me as a kid and that finally became a reality when dragster opened. I can remember going like it was yesterday! And finally the ending with your kids, as a father now I am counting down the years to take my son. It really hit home for me and really wanted to thank you for your work! Thank you for reminding me of my first time going and thank you for getting me excited for my child's first!!
My uncle is a huge coaster enthusiast (not so much of me) and he recently won a battle of COVID-19 so my dad decided to take us to CP and I didn’t know much but thanks to your amazing video, I have never looked forward to a day in my life as much as going there, and it’s only been a day. I don’t how your video ended in my recommended but I’m glad it did.
I'm late to this video and I don't usually comment but man... This video was truly a work of art. The b-roll footage, the music, the narration, everything. And that ending when you were talking about your son and daughter, I can't lie that made me a little bit emotional. I never thought the experience of conquering your fear of rollercoasters could be anymore emotional yet you showed me that it can be :)
Very beautiful and well done! When I was a child we would go to cedar point every year, I would follow that as a teenager and beyond but it's been a while. you brought back so many memories I thank you for that stay safe.
This is my home park and I thought I knew a lot about it but this video has taught me so much more. Thank you! Great video as always and it made me hyped to go this Saturday!
Your videos are always so well produced. Great pacing, thoughtful narration about what the parks/rides/experience mean beyond the physical/pragmatic metrics and as always phenomenal editing of the coaster shots. I don’t know how, but your shots are buttery smooth. Well done.
