A little fun fact is that the cedar downs racing derby is technically the oldest ride in the park. It was built in 1912 at Euclid Beach, which was the cedar point of the 1920s to 1930s before being destroyed by a fire believed to be caused by arson. The racing derby is one of the only rides salvaged, the other one is flying turns, which was just recently re opened after a huge refurbishing after the fire, and a half century later.
For those watching this video, Mantis is now Rougarou. It is no longer a stand-up coaster. It has new seats and is now a floor-less coaster. The Mantis was one of the lesser popular coasters so they revamped it. They have also added another coaster called Valravn which is a dive coaster, and they shut down Mean Streak at the end of 2016. They are either re-designing the coaster or putting in a totally new coaster. I liked Mean Streak. It was rough as heck but if you sat correctly, it wasn't painful. I hope they keep it wooden otherwise the only true wooden coaster left will be the Blue Streak. Don't pass up Blue Streak if you go. Yes, it is old but you get tons of air time. And don't pass up the Cedar Downs which was the racing carousel ride. It is probably the most unique ride in the park and one of the funnest non-coaster rides. It also goes much faster then a normal carousel. Only carousel ride with signs saying not to sit side-saddle LOL. Also, this park has the best views. It is surrounded on three sides by Lake Erie.
love this walk thru thanks for taking the time to make it man...great memories cant wait to go back there soon, its been far too long...especially since i only like 45 minutes away
Really enjoyed your video. I'm going to CP next Wednesday. It was nice to get a virtual tour of the park. (Even though this will be my 6th time Going I still don't know how to get around that well)
This was filmed exactly a year ago today! Awesome. Lol. Hey. Jay, I have a question. How does one go about getting the fast lane thingys? (I can't remember what they are called lol)
You can purchase them online or at Guest Services on the way in. Or you can take your chance and play one of those games to win one. I notice they're now offering a "Fast Lane PLUS" for even more money: www.cedarpoint.com/ticket-category/Fast-Lane-Fright-Lane
Thanks, Jay. I enjoyed your walkthrough videos of Cedar Point. I'm going there in May this year. Cannot wait! Are there many healthy options food-wise in the park?
There are a few. Probably your best bet is Midway Market. It's a bit pricey, but it has a pretty extensive salad bar and a big selection of other foods.
Thanks for this! I have a season pass and yet to USE it! And the season is almost over! Cedar Point Must LOVE me! i will be there maybe 2 times come Halloweekends~ If not all good! One thing tho You missed the 3rd Children 's area Planet Snoopy. I will forgive the wrong name to Windseeker. And a few others! Cedar Point in massive and to much to remember! You did good! Thanks!
I grew up in Columbus Ohio so I use to go to cp as a kid........all the time....long before the roller coaster were ever thought of.......mean streak.?? Lol....pirates ships that’s when cp was cedar was Cedar Point.........now I’m a Adult...and living in Arizona.....and Truly Miss living so close to wonderful park as Cedar park ........yes I do have Disney-world.....but let tell everyone.....nothing will ever compare to Cedar point
No.... he was right about why the mantis wasn't named banshee. The name was considered too edgy and negative at the time. The mantis was built in like 96 back when cedar fair didnt even own kings island yet. I think that cedar fair is willing to name new coaster at kings island banshee now bc the always liked the name, and now its a little more socially acceptable
