Always a pleasure seeing the classic PC collection, man! I hope this goes over well enough for you to justify covering everything over time. Looking forward to seeing those NFS games!
PC gaming related content is always a nice surprise. For how huge it is there really just isn't that many channels focusing on the games. If anyone knows of any good lesser known PC gaming channels I'd certainly be interested.
As cool as they are, I'm okay with them being a collectable thing. Back in the day most of the packaging just ended up in landfills. Not many people cared enough to have giant shelves in their house.
If you could add in some gameplay videos. Some of the games I don’t even heard before. Anyway I love your videos. Been following you and I enjoy all your collections. Brings back memories.
Looked for a comment that expressed this wish. Logistically difficult I'm sure. But maybe MetalJesusRocks could sprinkle in a gameplay video here and there. Take us back to the 90s and early 2000's with some gameplay. You're my favorite RU-vidr.
@@stuartbergman5313 yeah so true. Btw i can’t wait for MetalJesusRocks showcasing all the BLIZZARD games. Hyped!! Diablo franchise was my all time favorites.
Star Wars force commander / rollercoaster tycoon / railroad tycoon 3 were huge parts of my childhood. Love those games. Maybe I’ll track down big boxes of them now
One thing I remember about Star Wars Force Commander is units can actually run and shoot at the same time and also that really awesome Rock a metal intro music
This type of episodes is a little hard watch for me now.. it brought back wonderful memories between me and my life long friend who passed away few months ago. A good friend is a blessing from the sky guys and we were like brothers. Hold on to your family and friends, spend all the time you can with them, and from time to time, remember to tell them that you love them.
Good to see you also have the Monkey Island collection. Have you considered adding Escape from Monkey Island and Tales of Monkey Island or you have not played them? They are considered by most the worst of the series but still worth having them on the collection.
@@Laun0218 "really long time" also meant a lot less in those days than it does now. Delay periods now are sometimes entire development cycles back then.
Missing the days where the line between PCs and Consoles was less blurry. It was neat that consoles could do things PCs couldn't, and PCs could do things consoles couldn't.
I adore the soundtrack to XIII and hate that there is no complete rip/soundtrack, combining all the audio content across the console versions. (Yeah, the music was dynamic so you would have to mix the segments together. I still want it!)
What's that odd-looking Cowboy Bebop figure on the wall to the left? I looked through online listings but can't find anything like it. Looks like a small plate is in the package?
The 90’s was my PC gaming peak.... Wolfenstein, Doom, Doom 2, Heretic, Duke Nukem, Phantasmagoria, Under a Killing Moon, Wrath of the Gods, 7th Guest, Frankenstein: In the Eyes of the Monster..... Oh man..... I miss playing those games for the first time and just spending hours on my family’s computer......
This is an awesome video! You should do a tour of your PC collection with LGR. That would be an awesome video, to see you both geeking out over all that cool stuff!
@R4M Razr That's also not technically correct. There should be an apostrophe before the numbers showing you're leaving out characters. Like in the case of "you're" for "you" and "are"; you left out the "a". So, the technically correct would be '90s.
My 2nd purchase on Amazon was the Gone Jackals CD in December 2000. loved the soundtrack for Full Throttle so much I had to have the band's music. The CD has a few songs that were used for the game as well.
Being a console player mostly, I missed out on a lot of PC gaming. Great start to the series, but please include some game footage so I can see what the games are all about if you make a part 2.
Planescape Torment and Icewind Dale are both in the Dungeons and Dragons universe. They were also both developed by Black Isle studios, along with Baldurs Gate 1 & 2.
My family never owned a PC in the 90s, but I have many happy memories of watching my cousin play DooM, and my best friend playing Sensible Soccer, Civilisation and Red Alert. I wish they gave me a go once in a while.....
why only 90s? There are plenty of good games from 80s as well, so many good adventures from sierra, infocom, level 9, many great rpgs, 2d action platformers
Blake Stone the first 3D FPS? No... Technically, the first is Hovertank, also by if Software: Hovertank - primitive engine - id Software Catacomb 3D - Hovertank engine + texturing - id Software Wolfenstein 3D - Wolf3D engine enhanced over previous games - id Software Blake Stone games - slight enhancements of Wolf 3D engine - JAM Productions Rise of the Triad - much enhanced Wolf 3D engine - Apogee Software
I love PC games and especially those multipack games. From 95 to 2000 I didn't have a game system. But I had a computer and it was my Saving Grace or I would have been bored. Then in 2004 I got injured and had to be off work for two years and someone gave me a decent Dell laptop I would scrape $10 together. and take the bus to Best Buy and walk out of there with five games
Blake Stone is nowhere close to being the first FPS, it's based on the Wolfenstein 3D engine and came out over a year after Wolfenstein 3D, and only a week before Doom. Wolfenstein 3D definitely isn't the first either, being predated by Catacomb 3D and Hovertank 3D (both also by id), and probably others. No idea what is the first, it's probably debatable since if you go back far enough you get games that behave a bit like FPS games but maybe "don't count" depending on your opinion. id's early games are probably the first to render at a fast enough frame rate to "feel" like an FPS. Earlier efforts that I can think of off the top of my head struggled to reach 10fps and therefore felt rather slow and not particularly like arcade/action games.
I was excited to watch this video...only to find out he was only showing display boxes. Yawn. Where's the gameplay for the games you're talking about???
Hi metal Jesus how are you doing today and I hope you are doing well and How was your weekend and you have an awesome pc collection and it’s very impressive of how many pc games you have and I have a couple pc games for my pc and one of my pc game is resident evil 4 but it doesn’t have the original box and it’s just the disc by itself and I found this resident evil 4 game at thrift store and it was an awesome find and I a retro game store called lost level’s in Fullerton and I shop there every month for old ps1,ps3,ps4,SNES,psvita,psp,and ps2 and they have a lot of games for console’s and they even sell game console’s and I even found two ps1 console’s one for my mom and one for me and one of them is a Sony revision model and the other one is an original 1994 launch version and I’m a huge video retro gamer and I love collecting games for console’s and I grew up with the ps1 in the 90’s as a kid and my first four games were resident evil,Dino crisis, crash bandicoot, and Spyro the dragon and keep up the awesome and amazing work on your channel and your channel always rock’s man and I always love your channel and videos and huge fan of your channel and take care my friend and stay safe and stay well.⚠️🤟✌️😍🥰❤️💕❤️💕❤️💕❤️💕❤️💕❤️💕❤️💕❤️👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Really nice seeing this. When covering consoles, it feels like your guest is the expert and you are learning from Reggie, Riggs, Kinsie and co... with this your passion, experience and nostalgia shines through.
Dude Cyclones is so cool!! I bought this back when it came out, and my 486 barely played it but it was awesome!! I've been looking for the big box version for awhile now.
big box PC games never get the coverage that retro console games do, so this is great! I'd love to have a complete box copy of Ultima III for my old Atari 800.
The 90's is probably my personal favorite PC gaming era. My gaming history was I started with arcades in the late 70's and of course the Atari 2600 but then I got a Commodore 64 around 1982/3. I LOVED it and I scoffed at mere consoles. We got a NES and Genesis and SNES but I still loved my C64. In 92 I joined the Army moved off to Ft. Bragg, NC and with my new found disposable income bought my first PC and never looked back, I was primarily a PC gamer until 15ish years ago when I started adding both new and classic consoles. So many nights and weekends spent in the barracks with me and my friends gaming the night away, We were all into PC's and gaming and life outside of training and deployments revolved around the PC and gaming. So many great games released in the 90's and so many iconic franchises started during that time. I remember: Doom - holy crap! I set my modem to download it and it took HOURS but that night we gathered around and were absolutely blown away. We knew the gaming had changed and that Doom was iconic. The start of CD based point and click adventures. Solving Full Throttle with an Army buddy of mine in one marathon sitting. Buying a little known game called "Warcraft" from anew company called "Blizzard" So many hours spent on flight sims I was always (and still am) a flight sim buff. SO many RPGS in Ultima series, Eye of the Beholder, Might and Magic, Lands of Lore. A very, very large number of hours spent in X-Wing and Tie-Fighter. Origin Systems and Sierra put out the BEST games! And now neither company is around any more. The start of the Elder Scrolls Series with Arena and then Daggerfall. Daggerfall absolutely blew me away. Extreme let downs like Battlecruiser 3000AD X-Com. We spent SO many hours on this game. The entire Wing Commander Series! OMG, I was devastated when Hobbes turned out to be a traitor. I could go on and on, but I consider the 90's a "golden age" of PC gaming.
Man, this is very beautiful to see. All those beautiful and well preserved games ... Here in Brazil we don't see this quality in the old games. Unfortunately, preserving this kind of thing was not part of the culture of the Brazilian people. But that has changed in the past six years or so, when retro games started to become rare and therefore expensive. Anyway, nice video MJR! I hope you bring 100 parts of this =p
I'm pretty sure that Deus Ex box was from Australia, due to the sticker in the top right which mentions "the office of film and literature classification".
Huge fan of this. I grew up with PC games as you did (I think we're around the same age), and Sierra On-Line and LucasArts were huge inspirations. I have no doubt that's what led me to work in the computer industry. Looking forward to many more videos.
10:23 thats the Australian release as can be seen by the top right, it has the Australian coat of arms, in Australia in the 90s a lot of games sold here were direct imports from the UK and our ratings board had its ratings put on top as stickers
I wish I never thrown most of my pc games from the 90s when I converted my attic..... Mech warrior was my fave with the thrustmaster stick and throttle. Saying that I did save system shock.
What a great collection! The timing of this video is impeccable. I JUST started collecting boxed PC games from the 90s and early 2000s. I am trying to recreate the collection I had growing up. I stupidly threw out all of the boxes when I was younger. The first lot I bought off ebay is coming tomorrow. I am super excited to get started collecting and displaying them.
