They are amazing! I belonged to a drum and bagel corps as a teenager called the Connecticut Classics and we competed but these guys are over and way above. Wow! Thanks for sharing! Yes they play and move while they are playing.

Congratulations on ten thousand!! So happy you liked the marching band. I did this in high school and we also made shapes and words although not quite this elaborate. It was more about math, memorization an precision than about coordination. Each persons every step is put on a grid. You memorize both the music and every step you take and where you need to be on the field on each note. If everyone gets it perfectly, it looks magical. That requires hours and hours and days of practice.🐝🤗❤️

The first one was Clark Kent entering a phone booth where he changes into Superman and saves a skyscraper from falling. Also, Harry Potter in a Quidditch match, and I think you got all the others. So glad you enjoyed this! I think it’s remarkable!

I loved seeing and hearing both of your reactions!! Marching Bands have been a part of my life for a very long time. I was in Band ages ago. My son traveled all over the world while being in High school and college. This year he begins his 19th year of being a Band Director/Teacher. Superman leaping over a tall building in a single bound

PS, also listening to you trying to figure out what the shapes were and then figuring it out and describing it as you’re figuring it out was very exciting for me because I clearly can’t see the formations that they’re performing on the field. Listening to react to the tea Rex was fun but then finding out that they were making it work was even more thrilling on my side because clearly I wouldn’t have a clue how they would do such a thing. Again thank you.

The red lines to the left of Superman was the red phone booth he always changed in to go from Clark Kent into Superman. Now you see why we call them TBDBITL, or The Best Damn Band in the Land! So glad you enjoyed them! The game was between Ohio State University. and Penn. but archrivals for more than 150 years with Michigan

I was in matching band and this is harder than you'd think. You have to count your steps, the pauses, the music the pauses in the music. It's all math and all counting constantly. Plus you have to think heel, toe, step with each footstep. All while remembering to keep your knees bent so you don't pass out.

High School and College Bands do Field Shows at home games. College Field Shows are more elaborate than High School. All bands have only a week maybe two to learn a new Field Show as you do a new one for every home game. That means memorizing all the music, learning the Field Show itself and where you need to be on the field at every moment and making sure you’re not running into anyone with yourself or your instrument and keeping your lines/curves correct with the persons next to you. Some of you are marching in full step, some are half stepping, some are marching in place and some are practically running to get to their next mark all while playing your instrument and playing it well and facing upward so it projects out to the crowd as these are huge stadiums. You have to have lots of lung power to play and March/move and the ability to memorize music quickly and the ability to learn Field Show patterns quickly. I did this through 4 years of High School and ours were not as elaborate as these guys. But whether it be High School or College it’s the same skills. You start learning it in High School and then perfect it at the College level. Plus what most people don’t realize is that you still take a full load of classes and have to keep your grades up to be in band. And you don’t get out of class to practice for band. Band is an extra curricular activity that you usually practice after school and still have to do your homework so it takes dedication and self discipline to do it and especially at the College level. Ohio State isn’t the only band doing great Field Shows but they are known as the Best Damn Band in the Land. They are amazing. They are famous for their Ohio Script with a special person being chosen each time to dot the “i” in Ohio. You should check out some of their other shows. I really like their one at Wembeldon.

(In 1950s TV show, reporter Clark Kent wore business suits during day but, when someone needed his help, he would go into a phone booth & change into his Superman outfit & rescue whoever needed help.)

I guess that marching band is only a thing in the U.S. That's O.K. though. It makes it much more fun when people from other places react to it. The surprise and delight make me happy. Also, there's a big difference between being dumb, and simply not knowing. These kinds of videos are learning experiences for all of us.

Ohio Stare Band is awesome! So is ourMarine corp band! Watch footballs hardest hits! Movie Maverick with Tom Cruise was awesome! Must watch it in theater to enjoy the jet scenes! Regarding the Ohio State Univ Band; There is a rhyme: "The Best Damn Band in the Land"

I was in the high school marching band, almost every city has at least one high school and large cities have multiple high schools. On Friday nights a school is either at home or away. At each football game both schools bands march at half time. Most are quite professional and very entertaining. Of course not as complex at a major University such as Ohio State but never less a lot of fun for both the students and the spectators. Thanks for playing this and I enjoy your channel. May want to look at Texas A&M marching band as well or some other major University. (They are more military type) loved meeting the misses as well. God bless.

I've lived in Ohio most of my life and this band is hands down mind blowing

My daughter was in TBDBITL. They will often put on a new show every week during the season, which means memorizing all the music (they don't carry music on the field), plus all the drill, between Monday and Friday Over 400 kids will compete for the Band every year, for just 225 places. It is as competitive as the football team, but the kids in the Band are so proud to represent the University like this, and they have the status of rock stars on campus and around the state. Oh, and the Band is unique in that it is an all brass and percussion ensemble, modeled after the traditional British brass band. It is the largest all brass and percussion band in the world.

Superman is able to leap a tall building in a single bound! He's putting the building upright again. Ohio State Band has a lot of musicians in it so able to do a lot more on the field than other marching bands. I was in a University marching band and it takes hours and hours of practice to get a show up and running. There were many nights when we were on the field at midnight practicing. I wouldn't trade any of it - some of the best years of my life!! 🙂

I've read in comments elsewhere that they do a different show every week, so they literally learn different music and different choreography IN ONE WEEK. Beyond how amazing the music and choreography are, the fact that they have one week to learn it all just blows my mind!

tOSUMB also affectionately known as TBDBITL (The best damn band in the land) is one of the premiere college marching bands in the states. They do a lot of these moving picture shows including video games, queen, Michael Jackson, and even traveled to London to play a halftime show at an NFL game there. There is a ton of youtube content on them including a go pro from inside the formations. They are all college kids who practice in addition to going to school and they do a new show every week during football season

Ohio State has done many great halftime shows , One you might enjoy is their 2015 show at Wembley Stadium in London , at the end they do whats called Script Ohio which is very famous in college football , the rest of the show is pretty damn cool too.

Every University has a Music Department for students that major in Music.

Yes, they are playing the music that you are hearing. This is not new to, T.B.D.B.I.T.L. (The Best Damn Band In The Land). The "M" flag on the sunken ship, is their arch rival. They were not playing that team at this game. The band pulls off special halftime shows during special home games. This game was against the Penn State Nittany Lions.

I was at this game. I worked at Ohio Stadium (the shoe) for 15 years and love TBDBITL (The Best Damn Band In The Land). It's great to see the world enjoy them as much as I do.

I went to UofM & OSU's our mortal enemy (don't tell anybody -- was born in Shaker Heights Ohio but raised in MI.) You've so got to watch the history of the actual states' hatred of each other -- it's hilarious and abiding to this day (as a family kinda thing.) Back in the early1800s before MI was a state but OH was, we started shooting at each other enuf for the feds to come in to stop it. Said OH wins b/c they're a state & MI's still just a territory. But in such a typical gov't move, they gave Toledo to OH, and gave MI the booby prize of the UP connected w/ Wisconsin. So they screwed WI to appease MI, while favoring OH cuz they were a state. Here's the kicker: In the end, OH got screwed. Toledo's a hell hole and the UP's fountain of every national resource on earth. Meanwhile, WI's still screwed HAHA

Ricky, you should check out the Ohio State Marching Band Ramp and Script Ohio. That is the routine the Band does before every home game.

You guys probable don't have access to all the "old time" Superman shows here in the US. But as a child growing up in the 60's and 70's the old shows had Superman jump into a public telephone booth where he would change from being Clark Kent into being Superman. That is what you are seeing in the very first opening of the show.....superman changing into his super suit and flying out to save a falling building.

Yes, you were right - that was Superman saving a building. In the original movies, Superman changed in a phone booth. We don’t have phone booths anymore so I’m not sure where he’ll change now…hahaha. Did you see the T-Rex eat the Michigan person? They (Ohio State football) were playing U. of Michigan so hence the T-Rex eating the enemy and the Ohio St. ship sinking the Michigan ship. THE Ohio State marching band is also known as TBDBITL. The Best Damn Band In The Land. Ohio Stadium, The Horseshoe capacity is 102,780. Third most to Michigan and then Penn State. All 3 are Big Ten teams. Did you catch the Ohio Buckeye chant at the end? OH, IO.

Best dam band in the land

It's crazy to see people from all over the world, especially Sweden, react to the band from my home state college! Glad you enjoyed it! They're known as "The Best Damn Band in the Land." They really are the best college marching band. And yes, during the pirates part, they were "sinking" the enemy ship, University of Michigan. They are our arch rivals. OH-IO! Also, we'd love to see more of Carol! 😘

Another thing to remember about this band, every member is a full time college student. "Spare time?! What's that?"

In high school in college here in the US The time between the 1st half and the second half there is the half time show which is the marching band This is what I love about Call lynch football. The patron G., The school pride, the rivalry's. That atmosphere is alit. he Ohio state marching band Is apparently considered the top marching college band. Also note it is called the Ohio state never oh Ohio state And it's the buckeye's not buckeyes.
