Just a quick video I threw together because I couldn't actually find any videos explaining ultra dashes. DeathKontrol's Ultra Skool map: gamebanana.com... Tutorial for downloading mods: • How to Install Celeste...
I had to start at 0.1x speed and work my way up to 1.0x speed. I can do one just fine, but I'll have to work on chaining, mostly because I haven't attempted chained ones yet.
Just finished Ultra Skool, your video was immensely helpful for it! There is a lot of nuiscance to Ultras one has to learn on their own but your video gives an excellent starting point.
Thanks for the video! Practicing my ultras is way easier now! Btw, unrelated to the ultras but how do you display the grab, dash and the control layout overall? What program is it?
this helped so much omg i had thought that since bunnyhops are the best way to conserve momentum that i had to jump immediately, but i realize now why ive never really been able complete an ultra room before now time to practice it ;3;
The weird thing with me for chained ultras is that for the longest time I couldn’t do them when they were required, but going through a lobby for a collab I’d hit insane ultra chains. Then at some point they just clicked and now they feel super easy (unless is weird shit where every dash has a different timing)
You can use an obs plugin called input overlay to achieve that. You'll need to make your own images in photoshop or the like though as the base version is very plain.
Its really hard to switch between jump and dash on default controls, so what some players do (including myself) is to have another jump (or dash) button in a place that you can reach with another finger (i use left bumper). This way you switch between dash and jump fast enough to do the ultra Hope that helps :)
I think I have my right thumb on both jump and dash, if you mean the joystick I recommend using directional buttons (keys for me). It also removes slip ups from the joystick I feel like.*
