Beyond thrilled that you reacted to the John & Celine video - I wasn’t expecting that because the quality & videoing wasn’t at all great, so was just sending for your own interest! But Boom!!, I was just casting your reactions to the TV to show my elderly Mum (quite possibly Australia’s biggest Farnsey Fan) & Bam💥 - you were saying my name and your fabulous first attempt at pronouncing Tasmania 🤣 so freakin cool!! Can’t wait till you get time to react to my other request! Peace out legend!! ☺️
@@ThatSingerReactions A huge smiling Aussie hello back from Mum 👋👋 She watched a marathon of your “Farnsey” reaction vids after this and I quote “oh he (you) has made my day, week & year” 🙏🙏❤️
@@ThatSingerReactions hi Nick nice one tho.. by the way check this one from Mori just drop right now ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OZtcIE-qmJ0.html
Celine told everyone the one person she wanted to sing with when she came to Australia was John Farnham. Notice how the whole audience was singing along with her before John joined her. Everyone knows "You're The Voice." When John came on stage it was electric, the audience went wild. John is such a humble, likable guy, he always seems a bit surprised when all these other great singers rave about him and want to sing with him.
He was 69 when this happened. My girlfriends daughter was in the crowd, she said the whole joint went totally nuts when John walked out. They had no idea he was going to be performing. It was a really lovely thing to do to acknowledge his talent and influence on her career. You're right, two legends together. 😍😍😍
You are literally the only one who is consistently reacting to Aussie music, opening up your platform to all its Aussies. Much love from Melbourne to you and your love of great Aussie music! Please do Scraming Jets...
@@ThatSingerReactions * Screaming Jets…more grit!! Mate, I reiterate other fans’ sentiment: loving your channel, loving your sincere child-like discovery of Aussie artists and their talent…and you and your sister’s (she’s a classic!!) review of our snacks - so funny and so entertaining!!
John Farnham explained why he never tried the US. He said unlike Europe the US music industry is very compartmentalised and if a song is a hit in one area it doesn’t necessarily spread across the country. He said US music stations didn’t know how to classify him and frequently refused to play his music.. Elvis had the same problem starting his career. JF also said “singing isn’t the most important thing in my life”. His family and quality of life was more important than the fickle adulation of the public. He’s successfully been married for over 50 years and raised a happy beautiful family hand in hand with his wife, Jill. Now that’s a man with his head in the right place. Solid values of loyalty and humility. Please get well John. A nations LOVES you.
This song is more relevant today than ever. We need to send a message to the powers that be that we will not be silenced and bullied. We are lions NOT sheep.
John is in his early 70's now and up until he was diagnosed with cancer of the mouth a few months ago and underwent extensive surgery, his voice was just as extraodinary as when he was in his 20's. We don't know if he will ever be able to sing again but we will never tire of listening to him.
It has always puzzled me why John Farnham was not popular and famous and appreciated outside of Australia.....he is as you say, one of the greatest singers of all time. Hands down!
Out of everyone else I've heard sing You're The Voice, Celine is the one that's done it the most justice - and this special moment is always going to be awesome to watch.
I'm glad you enjoyed this video of Celine Dion singing "You're the Voice" with John Farnham. I'm an Australian, and I was shocked when first seeing this. And, believe it or not, Celine Dion is a fan of John Farnham, and she sings his song "You're The Voice" to help John Farnham be known outside Australia. She even says to have an I-Pod with all of John Farnham's songs when she's on a world flight. LOL! You've also probably noticed how John Farnham sings on stage, he was holding the mic further away from his mouth. That's how powerful his voice is. And it even made Celine Dion herself jump back. Whether it was a joke on her part or not is unknown, but you can tell that Celine Dion has great respect for this great man. They don't call John Farnham "The Voice" for nothing. In fact, John Farnham has sung with many singers. There is even one of him singing the Foreigner song "I Want To Know What Love Is" with USA singer, Laura Branigan. I highly recommend you to see that one.
It's also because of the Lyrics. Which is why it's an Anthem here in Australia. "You're the Voice, try and understand it. Make a Noise and make it Clear Oh, Whoa We're not gonna sit in silence, We're not gonna live with Fear Oh, whoa!!" The Message is Powerful. Very relevant today with what's happening.
It was released in the USA on March 3rd 1990 and only reached 82 on the billboard chart. It reached number 1 in Denmark, Germany, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden and of course Australia. And no 6 in the UK and Austria. Very popular all around the world just not in America 🥺
The record companies in the US would not take it on. As John says though he wanted to put his family and Australia first anyway. We are so lucky he did that. He so very richly deserves the recognition he is getting now and his sons are making sure he knows about it. Our gorgeous Aussie legend inside and out. THE VOICE THE G.O.A.T. who can turn those magnificent pipes to any genre. Love you John 😍😍😘😘
Farnsy always acknowledges his bands and anyone he is with but to see Celine's band stand and applaud was such a wonderful acknowledgement of his talent and personality etc etc etc....
I was at a live concert he did in 2018, at the age of 70. He sang all his hits, including this one, in the original keys, and he never missed a note. He hit all the high notes pitch perfect. For my money, John Farnham has to be the world's best vocalist. Not only for his range, control, vibrato, pitch perfect tone, but for his ability to sing a song like no other (the arrangement of his vocals). Still as good at 70 as he ever was.
We celebrated my Mum's 70th birthday yesterday. Her children and grand children sang this song together by her birthday bonfire, and they all knew it by heart. Her youngest grandchild was 3yo.
@@ellefitzpatrick6339 well it’s normal everyone knows that a man voice is more powerful than a woman’s voices it was more because he decided to change and improvised a bit his song with a different riffs and Celine was just joking more than anything Celine improvise all the time and don’t forget Celine has sang with the most powerful mans voice on earth Pavarotti bocceli and many opera singers and she has always shine in every occasions Celine has monstrous powerful voice too has a female there’s not a lot of female singers that can match her powerful voice 🥰👍
Celine is a fan of John Farnham as is a lot of international artists, not sure why he hasn’t been seen or heard in the U.S. but she was so excited to perform with him it’s very sweet for her to recognise his greatness. Another good duet of Your The Voice with Farnsey is Coldplay at The Live Aid concert in Sydney. Thanks for another amazing reaction
*His manager mortgaged his home, all those years back, to make the album (Whispering Jack) where this song is from....and till today John Farnham's hit is the "unofficial" national anthem of Australia.*
Thank you for showing Aussies' love for the INCREDIBLY talented (and hilarious) John Farnham. And I'm so happy for you that you now SHARE that love. Like you, I'm incredulous that his talent and music are not recognised world wide. Can you imagine how empowering those lyrics could have been to minorities in particular!? "WE'RE NOT GONNA LIVE IN SILENCE, WE'RE NOT GONNA LIVE WITH FEAR . . . YOU'RE THE VOICE".
John was 69 in this video. Can still sing the hell out of anything! I seriously love how much you're into this song 😊 It really is legendary - should have been a worldwide hit.
Just look how happy you are listening to our man, he is the ultimate voice, we love and are so proud of him amazing man and song. Hope he gets well soon
You probably need to look up the behind the scenes video from this concert (I think it might have been 60 minutes Australia) - the nerves she had meeting him and vice versa- and apparently she sought him out as apparently his version of this song was one of her inspirations for singing in her younger days apparently
This is such an Aussie Anthem cause it reminds us that we all have a voice and, as is the Aussie way, we won't put up with crap that goes against us, our morals, views, way of life etc. John has an amazing way of putting all of that in lyrics. He's a legend AND a genius!
Man you should watch firefight Australia concert where John Farnham and Brian May perform this song together this is one act you'll never see again two great ledgnes perform together
I was at this performance and to see it live was something else!!! The whole crowd went absolutely crazy when Farnsey came on stage and him and Celine then went on to blow the roof clean off Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne!! Was such a childhood dream to see Celine live and see was AMAZING and did not disappoint.. And the last time you said Tasmania you said it right that's my home state 😉
There’s a behind-the-scenes video showing John and Celine meeting backstage, and HE is humbled to be in her presence, profusely thanking her for inviting him. She told him: “You’re not a ‘good singer’…You’re The Voice.” Damned if he wasn’t about to cry right then and there!
I remember Celine doing a interview and her dream was to sing with John at a concert when she came to Australia. Her people and his people made sure that happened 💕💕🙋🏼♀️
You asked about John still singing today. Yes. I saw him perform last year in February. Just before pandemic shut things down. It was at large, televised charity concert for firefighters. I was lucky to be in the audience there. Of course he sang "you're the voice" in his set. I think he was 70/71 last year. Sounded great. But what made it even more special was he sang it with Mitch Tambo, an Indigenous Australian artist, who sang the lyrics in his native Gamilaraay language. Brian May from Queen was also up there on guitar with them. And Olivia Newton John joined them towards the end. Here's the video. 👇 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lqjNWuM2z-Q.html
Yes, this so much. My town was affected by bushfires for over six months in 2019/20 and watching this concert on TV was amazing. There was so much talent and the feeling of hearing John Farnham sing your the voice - when everyone was so exhausted from the stress and the constant smoke/ash in the air was really something wonderful.
I listened to this song in repeat for three years straight when participating for relay for life to raise funds for cancer. It drove me and motivated me. And knowing that he had battled cancer I think it should be the voice for cancer not just Australia. Cause we are all someone's daughter, and we are all someone's son
Look at where John holds his mike, and look where Celine holds hers. In his late 60's John out-sang Celine Dion. In this reaction you look just like we do when we're at a John Farnham concert. Yes, he still sings, and he still sounds like that. After the terrible firs in Australia a couple of years ago, just before Covid hit, there was a Thank You concert to raise money. Queen were doing concerts in Australia at the time, and offered to give the venue and their support to the concert. John Farnham at 70 performed You're the Voice with Brian May, others and especially a young Indigenous Australian who sings You're the Voice in Language. It's worth seeking out.
Loved this. John and Celine had not met until just before this concert, and Celine couldn’t do enough for him, she adores John, and John lauds Celine. Another Australian singer whose singing voice didn’t change as he grew older was Jimmy Little - he was a beautiful man, an Aboriginal Australian who loved his people and his country and his God. He was still singing in his 70s. Listen to The Royal Telephone.
John is a coordinated guy. If you’ve watched enough of his performances you see him throwing and catching mic stands (among objects thrown at him on stage). Did anyone else notice his little mic throw between hands at 6:24? The dude is nearly 70 and still throwing his mic around, I love it.
It's a shame it was filmed by someone in the audience cos their excitement made it hard to hear the singing. But I always enjoy seeing John. You must be busy cos i sent a paypal on the 17th October but will wait my turn lol.. I am excited cos I know you will love it.
I'm so glad you did a reaction to this video. This should be a world wide anthem right now considering all the nonsense that's going on. We are all one people, we don't need the hate, the violence, the racism, any of it.
You can clearly see the respect John has for Celine in the way he holds back the microphone to not overpower her in the moment. So much humility. Also just wanted to take the time to say loving your appreciation to the Aussie classics. Keep doing what you're doing!
So glad you saw this one. She did a 60 minutes interview where she said she performs it all over the world but has to train the audience to do the call back. She said she always wanted to do it in Australia and it was the reporter that suggested she should contact John. You can find the original 60 minutes interview online as well as some footage of them prepping for this performance as a follow up. Johns 72 now so he would've been 68/69 years old here depending on when in 2018 this was.
John Farnham interview on midday with Ray Martin - 1987 If you look up this interview, john talks about " your the voice" success, his album of the time and what happened trying to release it in America. Its very enlightening on what it was like in those years.
There's a big chunk of Australian artists that are all some-what close-knit as a friendly community. I think some of it comes from it being a smaller industries back in the 80s and 90s. All being friends of Molly Meldrum, and sort of an extended "Hey Hey It's Saturday" family. There's a few In-laws in there too.
I was there.. I tell you it was totally magic.. I still can’t describe it.. This video doesn’t do any justice.. I have my own video and I’m keeping it to my self..
Hearing this song in concert, being there, its not something you ever forget. Its just chills all the way through. This song is still so relevent today.
