This has added meaning right now, as John has just gone through life altering surgery for mouth cancer and has part of his jaw removed. No one knows whether he will ever sing again, so this brings us to tears at present. All of Australia is behind you John, we love you, you ARE the voice!!

Nah, it’s “let’s work together to beat this!” for the absolute majority of people. We’ve done this before, you know. In the 50’s and 60’s there was compulsory vaccination for polio and tuberculosis. There were compulsory lung xrays in special Health Dept mobile vans on street corners for adults. There was no asking peission from parents. We were just lined up at school, walked to the Community centre and they did class after class, school after school, year after year, by the way. As a young adult I had those lung xrays for 2 years for tuberculosis before they were no longer needed. By doing this, working together for the good of everyone, we got rid of polio in Australia. We still have a special tuberculosis quarantine facility in Australia and a leprosy one for the rare cases that usually are started by people coming back in from overseas. Before WW2, a relative of mine, at age 3, was identified as a carrier of diptheria ( a horrific childhood disease where a membrane grew over the throat slowly suffocating the young children that it struck. In those days many families lost a child to this. This young 3 yr old was placed in a quarantine on her own for 3 yrs without seeing a member of her family. This is 2021, not the early or mid 20th Century. We have vaccines now. Grow up and do you bit!

It's not just John's vocals that are amazing when you see him live. His involvement with 'his' audience, his personal connection with everyone in the stadium etc is also one of the best I've ever seen, and I've seen quite a few Australian and top international acts over the years. He makes you feel like he's invited you around to his house to watch him and a couple of mates have a jam session! Definitely 'one of' the top performers of all time. The real amazing thing with his vocal ability is that even in his 70s, he still sings his big songs such as 'You're the Voice' in the same key as he did in his 30s.....

I'm glad you switched to the live version. John was 45 when this was done and is now 71 and not doing many shows, so it may be hard to see him live. If you want to see him perform at 70 check out ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lqjNWuM2z-Q.html In this video you get an idea of how powerful his voice is when you see how far he keeps from the microphone.

The Firefight performance was something special - the whole day and night was brilliant in fact, for Queen to perform the Live Aid set for the first time since the original it had to be special. Hearing Mitch Tambo talk about how John and the band were so welcoming to him puts an exclamation mark on John's inclusiveness. Sad what cancer has done to Livvy's voice though.

I was lucky enough to see this live in Feb last year. John sounded amazing. Having Brian May up there was an extra treat. And I loved seeing Indigenous Australian artist, Mitch Tambo singing parts in Gamilaraay language too.

Great video! I’m a Aussie and work as a professional viola player. I generally do symphonies/ballets/operas etc but I also freelance for all types of shows. A number of years ago, I got to play in a couple of John Farnham stadium shows(as part of a string quartet -augmenting the house band). Hands down, some of the best gigs I’ve ever done. He and his band are phenomenal! I’ve grown up with his legend but seeing Farnham live is something else. This video brings back lovely memories. Ps. My favorite part of show was mid-chorus, looking up to experience full band, backing singers, audience, John and 2 bagpipes players belting it out. I almost lost my mind!

Who else noticed the range of ages at this concert. That's how loved a lot of Aussie music legends are. Especially John Farnham. And this song and the album are what kicked his career to the stratosphere after being ignored for years. Thank you John. From Sadie to today you've been the soundtrack of so many Aussies lives.

I don't think you realised that that was JOHN, acting as the news announcer wearing glasses, in the very first frame, of the first video you began playing. He's a cheeky fella isn't he? He's been singing, beautiful and meaningful songs, with that supernatural voice for so long and he has always had such a great sense of humour too. It's almost like he is some kind of immortal, benevolent trickster come to play with us humans.

When you pay to go to a concert to spend half of it singing back at the bloke. Love John. Lol you'll see what I mean I guess. It's not his concert, it's our concert. Fellow Australian's if you can articulate it better please do 👍❤️👍❤️

I think it's because he's more like your brother, mate, the guy in the pub you have a beer with than a "star". Sadly it's also why a lot of people don't give him the credit he's due.

Have been lucky enough to see John Farnham in concert several times over the years. It doesn't matter where you are, as an Aussie, if You're The Voice comes on EVERYONE screams along to it. The lyrics are so meaning but John's voice is always amazing. When this live show was recorded in 1994 John was already 45, he's now 73 and until just recently still sounded exactly the same. You should have heard him singing his role as Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar in 1992 - phenomenal

Literally cried watching this. My family moved away from Australia when i was young and ever since I’ve been chasing the feeling of being back there. This is one of those songs that takes me there. They could arrange it, and the entire country would show up and you’d hear us singing this across the world. When I can I’ll hit your cash app but I recommend Horrorshow “Down The Line (Mana’s Song) if you wanna hear a rap song that can make you cry. Keep it up you legend

Everytime someone hears this song for the first time, they are always blown away by it. I don't think theres many songs like this ever in the world. I think it is the tune itself and the production that builds it from the start. Imagine 20-30 thousand people all singing this at once....thats what he does with this song in a stadium. Released in 1986, still today most people know it including young people.
