🍀 Celtic's pre-season plans kicked off in earnest at Lennoxtown last week but - for now at least - no new faces have joined the group.
Brendan Rodgers will be looking to change that in the days and weeks ahead of the title defence and a new assault on the Champions League with fans (us!) already becoming anxious at the lack of activity so far.
Elsewhere we speak to James on the burning question of his Season Ticket Renewal - a topic which caused much debate throughout the second half of last season's campaign!

I was a season ticket holder for 30+ years, and like James was totally frustrated with the board’s performance plus lack of change. So, like James I gave up my ST after NL’s covid debacle. I regretted it almost immediately, and had my name back on waiting list, by August that year. I suspect James might feel the same come the seasons start. It could well be years before I get a ST back.

I always feel that a team with new players doesn’t settle until November so for the CL it’s better to get them the previous January.

Im glad I seen the Martin Oneil days cause those times are gone forever. These days with the growth of football in the US and Saudi league its asthough the market that Celtic used to pick up some diamonds in has been obliterated. Celtic could smash their transfer record and still bring in dross these days.

With smart scouting and recruitment diamonds can still be found @eph We didn't have to break the bank for the likes of Matt O'Riley (£1.5M) or Kyogo, Maeda and Hatate for example. Even Jota at £6M could be seen as a bit of a steal.

True Jamie, think we need to be smarter in how we operate in the transfer market. There's no guarantees on any new signing mind you, as Barkas proved (so painfully 😂)

@@TheCelticExchange big difference these days compared to back in the 00's there was enough quality and belief to humiliate epl teams and some european big guns in the run to the eufa cup final and seen off big spending rangers. Lubo arrived in 98 at age 33 and stayed for 4 years and is one of the legends of that time. Plenty of other senior players arrived and made an impact. These days quality leaves soon as they arrive, Jota, Juranovic, Giakoumakis and others for different reasons.

The first point the bhoy makes about the money he would accept for Haksa and Oh compared to what we apparently got is why we should be glad these kinds of decisions aren’t made through a “ fans” way of thinking

@@TheCelticExchange I wasn’t having a go at him mate . It was more a general point about those pub accountants who tell you what we should get and what we should pay for players . Usually it’s way way off and would have most clubs bankrupt fairly quickly

Fair play to you James, done the same just a few seasons ago. Principles eh 🤣😂🍀 Structure doesn't appear to have changed/modernised. Evidence shows a change of manager & it's basically back to square one. Compounded if you have a squad mostly suited to a different style from the previous.

Great content as always! I am getting serious winter transfer vibes - lots of expectation from us met by lack of action by our Board! Are they asleep at teh wheel AGAIN!? I hope I’m wrong 🙏

We're not panicking just yet, its early days and the most important thing is signing the right players. That said we're now just over 30 days from the league campaign kicking off and plenty work to be done!

@@TheCelticExchange I’m sure he didn’t and fair play to him for sticking to his guns. Personally I couldn’t do it . Been going for far too long now and it’s more than just the game itself you go for at my age . Might be a bit cliche’d but it’s the social side of it as well .

James I made the same decision after the failed 10 season because of the attitude of the Board towards the support. They run the club like a bowling club committee where every penny is a prisoner. Absolute shambles that we are sitting with that sort of money in the bank and as James said we could have easily have lost that league had the Huns not bottled it. Get good experienced players in and if that requires spending then get the bloody cheque book out. Give something back to the support. They just can’t expect to take from them time and time again and give nothing in return

We are a big club with a Board who treat us like a small club. They show a severe lack of care for us and simply use us as their cash cow.
