Watching and loving this during the lockdown. Remember a lot of these (not the local ones). Still trying to fathom why anyone would thumb down (bots?). Great!
I remember back in the 80’s someone did a graffiti mural of all the weetabix characters on a wall down the Birmingham new road in Wolverhampton,it was quite genius and then the council got rid of it the spoilsports
Nostalgia! I grew up and still live in the Scottish highlands and we had Grampian TV as our local station. I love watching old adverts and in 1986 I was 8/9. Christmas was Christmas and not Holidays, life seemed less shit back then too. The only terrorists I knew of were the IRA, no nutters flying aircraft into buildings or chopping journalists’ heads off and broadcasting it. No internet or mobile phones. I’m glad I got to grow up in the 80s and 90s and I’m only sorry my own kids didn’t have the uncomplicated way of life we did. My own kids are now all grown up and have left home, I’m 44, been married 20 years and am bored out of my nut. Watching these old compilations makes me feel sad that the world is in the state it’s in.
I forgot we could get all those shades of toilet paper. Don't miss adjusting the tracking on my video though, we had great adverts in the 80's loved the blokes narrating.
God...I swear from about 1986 - 1996 they used to put bloody 'Escape from Witch Mountain' on all the damn time...probably one of the most boring films I remember as a kid...so slow to build to anything, but it was always bloody on...same with the 'Three lives of Thomasina', which wasn't as bad because it had a cat in it...but still really slow paced and boring with that annoying little girl...but always on at Christmas...yet if you ever wanted to catch something good like Gremlins, Short Circuit (1 & 2) or the Princess Bride they only seemed to come around in the UK every so often...or maybe were on later than I watched...but the same damn things you never could seem to avoid! Anyway...excuse the digression...obviously these adverts have given me a trigger moment 🥴 but another thing I miss is more the local adverts...never see any of them on TV these days...probably too expensive.
Yeah, all we had to worry about back then was AIDS, the Russians, the IRA, the Middle East, recessions, joblessness.....totally normal. 😂 Thank god we’ve only got COVID to deal with right now.
