What a great video! I'm planning a trip to Smith Rock for October and now I'm going to alter my plans a bit to include the Painted Hills. I really enjoyed your photography and how you presented it in the video. Job well done.

Great shots John. You have an artist eye. Thanks for sharing your beautiful and creative photography. If I may offer some advice...You mentioned alot about a more experienced RU-vidr. Be different. Be unique. Avoid criticizing your work on camera. Comparison is an ugly poisoning of joy and soul. Be you. Please for God sake, don't desire to be like one of those popular RU-vidrs who lust more for likes, hits, subscribers then the artistic process - who say...'Hey guys what's up, today, my hot young Barbie girlfriend and I....blah blah blah blah blah blah...' Be you John, no one on earth can do you better than you. God bless you brother. I really enjoy your work.

Great video! Love Smith Rock. I also need to get back to doing more photography again. After leaving professional photography for corporate video production I definitely miss chasing light for stills. Liked and subbed!

Absolutely beautiful work. Two of my favorite places in Oregon, you should check out high bridge over near prineville Redmond area another very cool place for photography.

The vertical shot at 1:50 is lovely, but I would like to see more foreground and less clouds. That's a cardinal rule for me when composing a shot such as this one, where the rock formation towers over its surroundings, and the viewpoint is closer to the onlooker. This compositional maxim applies to horizontal shots as well, such as the image at 10:15. More foreground, less sky. Just a thought. Carry on!

I really enjoy these videos John! They are calming and inspiring (for a fellow photographer). In this video you call yourself a beginner, and I chuckled out loud. If this is your "beginner" photography then I'm going to go ahead and purchase one of your prints as an investment. "I was on to John before he was National Geographics Photographer of the year ."
