@kristofercordero1524 then yeah it's pretty much a ptr but I remember the old c308 and that had problems I hope they fixed those problems if ptr is making those parts especially in the roller delay system
Just dropping this here because Atlantic Firearms disabled their comments on the CA-3 video: The CA-3 CANNOT accept a clamp on rail because the bulges where the clamp would hold on are rounded on the bottom. That means your only option for an optic is to have someone weld a rail on.
Ill be honest, of all the cool things I've seen on all these videos, that PTR G3 is probably the number one contender for me to actually buy. I love my AR10, but I've always wanted one of those cold war battle rifles.
Under 1k? post 2020?? by ptr?? you just cant beat it. Back in the old days, there was just the cetme, and a couple very expensive 91s running around. PTR came along and then faded out- its nice to have something again. ar10 is cool, so much you can do with them, and they can bet tweaked alot. with the g3 patterns, if you get a fussy one you're just about up the creek. A real scourge to troubleshoot. But you lovem anyway :) nimble platform
I have a century cetme and overall if you like the gun as is then go for it but if you want to customize or modernize then you're pissing away money when an ar10 does the job better and much cheaper. Pros: military surplus is cheap as hell I bought a g3 mag for $7, the iron sights are nice, the HK slap always puts a smile on my face, the gun looks amazing. Cons: customizing outside of military surplus isn't cheap, without a recoil pad it kicks like the gun hates me as much as I hate myself, the stock isn't inline with the barrel so the muzzle climb is bad, the trigger is about 9-10 pounds and a 5lb trigger is a few hundred dollars, low profile optics mounts are pricey. It sucked when I first bought it but $50 bucks later I had a slip-on recoil pad, good mags, and a larger charging handle that fixed most of my issues
I have a Portuguese G3. When PTR first started it was a company called JLD Enterprises. They had bought the tooling and some parts from FMP in Portugal to build G3s. Mine is a very early model it has an FMP bolt carrier, 15x1 thread barrel, some other stuff. What century is selling isn’t new, it’s a reissue. But still very cool, mines a solid rifle.
Im down with the g3 if ptr is building it. I wont touch anything that has centurys name on it. Not after my vska bolt sheared a lug. Got it fixed and sold it. Never again.
Everyone knows their in house guns are crap. The imports are ok for the price though. My romy draco and wasr still going strong after 3000 and 5000 rounds each. You basically treat them like RTI, only go for imports and try to look at them first hand if you can
God! That dude is a huge weapon himself ! And any MP5 with that long barrel looks extremely weird like the ugly duckling version of the MP5. What I would love to see produced is a very reliable mP5 clone that handles the 5.7. that would be beyond awesome!!
I like that the G3 has the correct triple frame/front sight base that has *not* had the tension ring cut off, but the cocking tube is definitely a new addition. The original Portuguese G3s used a non-tapered tube. I understand why they probably wanted to use the later style tube and "FS" hanger, so the wide handguard would fit, but it is not original to these particular guns. Also, I am hoping the flash hider is able to be ratcheted on and off like the original. Not really a fan of how PTR puts their flash hiders on the current rifles.
Less than a decade ago PTR's sold for $850. It's scary seeing how much the dollar has devalued in only that much time. Like seven years, not even that long ago.
@@lioncelica5170 My C308 with the Wood Furniture was $400 4 years ago, and I've been offered $1500, but now it has an SEF HK91 Lower, Timney 4lb Trigger, Leather Sling, Bayonet, EOTECH 552NV, couple 5rd, 20 20rd, 2 30rd mags. So I'm about $1400 in it and use it regularly to clear out dozens of hogs at times. It has probably 5000 rounds by now. Couple issues during the first 200 rounds but flawless since. Still want one of these G3 builds though lol.
I have a Namibian wide handguard with rarer spiked foot bipod along with a steel SEF lower, HK21 charging handle and buttpad, and a trigger worked over by Bill Springfield himself. I will be buying his improved recoil buffer or someone else's, still not sure before I commit to buying a Spuhr stock though. But I would love to have a shorter stock none the less. That or a wooden stock I'd cut down. It was the first year of paddle mag release, still four digit serial number and before PTR started using more US parts. I've considered buying another as a brush blaster for hogs and the like, but think I can easily justify one of these simply for the paddle alone. @@eclectic3618
That stock is just a collapsible magpul MP5 stock. You can get them readily for about $160. You're probably thinking of the classic A3 and A3F stocks that have skyrocketed in price. MKE is making a solid copy of the original A3 stock, priced around $375. They've been in stock on Atlantic firearms as of a couple days ago. So those things are definitely not unobtainable. Just have to know when and where to look.
this is all old news frankly. they worked with PTR back when they were releasing the C308 CETME builds. nothing new but glad that people can get a decent battle rifle for $1k again.
Yep, I picked up a C308 back around 2017 for $750 at Academy sports. PTR Barrel and lower receiver with milsurp bolt and furniture. Mine has been reliable but wish they would have put windage adjustments on the rear site instead of the dinky off canter front post sight for windage? I put an optic on it anyway.
If you want a canted front sight, furniture that doesn’t match, a rivet that will fall out of the bolt carrier, a hammer that will dent and metal shavings in a receiver look no further than a wasr 10…
@@kylecarpenter3900You apparently got a shitty rifle lmao, Romanians must’ve been extra drunk when they made yours. I have a newer production wasr-10 and it has had absolutely no issues, eats all the ammo I’ve thrown into it. And surprisingly my front sight isn’t canted. Of course the rivets aren’t the prettiest, and the finish is shitty. But that’s just typical wasr shit. As for my 10/63…. That rifle might as well be a fcking rainbow. Everything on that rifle is canted 😂. and century did a sloppy job with the mag well. But never less, it eats everything I throw into it.
Century Arms often get a lot of crap about their quality, but they are original and they are trying and putting effort in. Sure, other companies may do better... But at over a thousand dollars per item.
Oh hush, there are people still shooting far more obscure calibers that have not been used by any nation's military for since 1945. There's nothing wrong with buying a 5.45 AK. Stop trying to dissuade people from the caliber
@@joelgarcia8800 not true lol paid $400 for my 1st C308, sold it for $900 Paid $550 for my current C308 and been offered $1500. Does have a Timney Trigger, Wood Furniture and Bayonet Got a few k rounds, no issues after about a 200 rd break in. Taken dozens of hogs with it. Love my C308
Unpopular opinion but I got ahold of a C308 for a song, once I went through it, did a little work (hey... thats life) and I verified spacing and bolt gap etc (Actually all on point, and no evidence of grinding)..... it is absolutely rock solid reliable and wearing cheap, beautiful green G3 furniture. Its a later model with the Pic rail on it... and so I cant speak to sight alignment REALLY but before I put what I have on it there... it was fine at 100yd, - though I know thats not the best test for something that should be able to go 5x that... I dont have a range beyond 200. Anyway its reliable and I would be willing to roll the dice on one built by PTR for them.
It would be better to have an HK33 instead of an MP5 with a 16 inch barrel. The G3 is nice, but Century has a history of things being bent or damaged, so it's good to hear PTR are the guys doing the work on the G3.
@@averageoddDon't get me wrong I've had a few good built century AK's and my first AK was a early century build WASR. But WASR's are the absolute bottom of the barrel shit AK. Why dip that turd in gold!?
@@jonathan-6958The old WASR-10's were leftovers from the 1993-2003 assualt weapons ban that were made to only fit single stack mags. When the ban was lifted company's like century reemed out the mag wells to accept regular mags. I don't give a rats ass where they're made now, if it doesn't have a dimpled receiver I won't bother with it.
I got screwed by Century Arms three times in the past, I'm never buying from them again, you can't tell me their QC has got better when they used to shit out lemons like the RAS-47.
Why the receiver and barrel needed to be destroyed? Inportation regulations? Here in Poland, E.U. we can buy guns as they are as long as we have a gun license. 😮 For a full-auto version we need an equivalent of an FFL.
It's due to a stupid regulation that has to do with Full auto fire arms being considered as such forever. They need to destroy the original gun and stick the usable parts on a receiver that was never a full auto firearm.
Never will buy CA again because I had a product and they wouldn't fix it or replace it when it was two weeks old . I called the company and was treated badly by an employee . Was a loyal customer until that happened . Now I have a $300 + paperweight
wow the hate there getting i have a C308 and iv only had 1 double feed and that was my fault. Its more accurate then my buddy's AR its manufactured by Centro de Estudios Técnicos de Materiales Especiales (CETME) not Century Arms. in fact they made the cetme C before the G3 Germans working on the STG 45 for some strane reason wound up in Spain and worked for cetme.
Still waiting on the firing pin warranty for my vz-2008. Its only been about a decade. At this point just send me the price of it, I bought one from the Czech Republic
The Ak74 needs an oval shaped cut in the stock and will have the ribbed top cover to be clone correct. Also needs more of a black paint job instead of the grey parkerizing. Don’t understand the bulged trunion either. You won’t find those on originals either. Not sure what they’re doing here honestly.
BFT= Bulged Front Trunnion (or bulged forged trunnion, I've heard both) The idea isn't to be as accurate to the original AK74, it's to create a reliable and durable product. After the VSKA crap, Century decided to really step up their game.
Century needs to UP there quality game since half there guns don't even fit together correctly or have big gaps between parts or come down on the price but long as there just $100 bucks cheaper or in the same range as a Zastava Zastava will get my money every time
Atlantic firearms just released a video, they are out for sale now. And CA totally screwed this up. Missing the recoil lug AND they said they would make the new receiver look distressed and worn to match the rest of the parts and they DID NOT. it looks terrible with old parts and new flawless ones. Typical century arms...
Well the guns were made on HK tooling .. You do know that.. Even the ptr reciver tooling was bought years ago .. Is the quality as good ? Absolutely not but it is the same tooling

They really don't have anything new. It's the same things they have been importing for years just with a different feature set. That G3 is just a ptr parts kit
