The Future of Climate Philanthropy
Speakers: Kevin Bolduc, CEP (moderator/interviewer) | Ayana Elizabeth Johnson, Urban Ocean Lab | Dan Stein, Giving Green/IDinsight | Lee Risby, Laudes Foundation | Xiye Bastida, Re-Earth Initiative
Philanthropy has a significant role to play in seeding innovation, implementing solutions, and advocating for action on the global climate crisis, yet less than two percent of philanthropic funding goes toward climate change mitigation, according to the ClimateWorks Foundation. But marine biologist, climate solutions policy expert, and writer Ayana Elizabeth Johnson describes herself as a pragmatist who is “in love with climate solutions.” Johnson will take the main stage for an interview in which she will share her visions of forward-thinking climate solutions, providing insight into philanthropy’s crucial role in both climate change mitigation and climate justice work. Following her interview, Johnson will join a panel to further discuss philanthropy’s role in climate solutions and policy and for an interactive discussion about how climate touches on every issue area within philanthropy.
