I made a new set of texture wheels for my texture tool, along with a variety of pots using sodium silicate and expanding them in crackle patterns.
I hope you enjoy and leave me a comment on which piece you like best.
Tool and texture wheels are available on my website: www.justinsmakery.com

I haven’t learned to throw on the wheel yet. I got my first wheel this winter so I will finally be able to start very soon since it’s finally warm enough in the garage!! These pots are absolutely amazing!!!!

Let's 3D print a lobular roller, that is, an off-axis wheel. In general I think they have to be a bit bigger and round off the non-serrated edges. An interesting effect is when you alternate the turning direction of the wheel and expand the piece from the inside having used sodium silicate. Thumbs up!

Your rollers are similar to where the Steve Tool came from. He started with wheels/tires from toy cars and went on to develop his own roller patterns. As they say, it’s hard to do something new in pottery.

Also I have an idea for an experiment. What does it look like when you sprinkle sand or ground glass on the wet glaze and then fire it? I'm wondering if the sand runs down or bubbles up to make a cool effect. Have you tried this before?

I haven't tried ground glass, but I have tried sand and rock dust. Both ended up looking a bit like sandpaper and didn't flow or melt much. Glass is an interesting idea.

Use a Lego wheel, or print a tire tread pattern.
