I am amazed about the jumping on the bandwagon mentality, Sodium Sicilate.

I’m curious to see what would happen to the Pepto Bismol fired on top of a glaze at a lower temperature? I have been playing around with Lusters and I think the secret ingredient to the Mother of Pearl luster is bismuth.

Great video, I did this in my adult ed class, tutor did a demo a d as I'd just finished throwing a small vase she asked if I'd give a go. I loved the crackle effect, this may become one of my favourite techniques along with agateware and mocca diffusion. Thanks for sharing 😊

Try hydrogen peroxide. It's water with extra oxygen attached. And maybe a dash of vinegar as an electrolyte.

Great build, but your motor is TEFC, totally enclosed fan cooled. You really should have a vent or cooling fins on your assembly. You might be OK with short usage time and small items you are throwing, ie having very little load. Perhaps the aluminum case radiates enough heat that the motor is OK.

Looking for inspiration to build a prototype extruder for my wife. Thanks for sharing your ideas. As it is already great and can be improved. It will be great to know if you further improved your cleaver die holder to handle hollow dies. Ignore dudes that only have thoughts to express negative opinions. You did great!

Glass has different melt points. I use COE 91 glass which melts at 1480F.

I’ve started fooling around using glass with ceramics. What you could try is mix frit with ceramic glaze. The glass particles will melt at around 1480F. I would use coarse grade frit rather than the fine or powdery frit.

In bisque the marble will soften and partially melt. At cone 5 or 10 it will liquify. Take it from there.

You should try this with foam balls, like beanbag foam. Mix it with your clay and fire it in a mold. This method will produce an open cell ceramic foam and should be much stronger.

How does it hold up in the kiln? Does the glaze stop running where the grease is applied during the firing process?
