Cerebral Palsy Soccer Panel Discussion
Learn about CP Soccer from a team of players, coaches, organizers, researchers, and parents. CP Soccer is open to ambulatory kids with cerebral palsy, or who have had stroke or traumatic brain injury (TBI).
Shea Hammond, Leah Glaser, and Cassidy Leake, all current US CP National Team players and students, share their journey to play soccer at this level, what they’ve learned, and how they give back to younger players through coaching and mentoring.
Ashley Hammond, Owner Sports Domain Academy, CP Soccer Co-founder, coach, and leader within US Soccer, shares the story of how CP Soccer was founded, how the regional and national programs fit in the world of US Disability Soccer, and offer opportunities for soccer as a lifetime sport for all.
Jacqueline Chen, Executive Director of Cerebral Palsy Soccer, highlights upcoming opportunities to get involved in regional teams, clinics, camps. She also outlines plans to continue to grow CP Soccer to other geographic regions.
Katherine Dimitropoulou, PhD, OTR/L, MSPOR, Assistant Professor Rehabilitation & Regenerative Medicine, Columbia University, highlights preliminary findings of pilot research studies of kids who have participated in CP Soccer day camps, plans for the 2023 summer camp, and the vision that community-based sports have to improve wellbeing for all kids.
The session concludes with a discussion based on audience questions.
