Certificate Holders & Additional Insured 

So you got a request for a certificate of insurance and they mentioned both certificate holder and additional insured. One is just proof of insurance. The other is an endorsement or change to your policy that could cost you money. A certificate is just a single-page form that describes a very basic summary of your insurance coverage. For a certificate, there is one more box called the certificate holder box. That's because commercial insurance certificates are given individually to the people or the entity that's asking for it.
