I love these cockpit views. I like the extended, uninterrupted views out of the windows. It's good for while I'm working -- I have my work on one side of the monitor and a beautiful flight on the other!
As an inactive pilot who flew for thousands of hours over twenty years in my younger days, this video brings back to me the sheer joy of jumping in an airplane on a beautiful morning and hopping around from airport to airport - and just experiencing the fun of flying a light aircraft all by yourself - and loving every minute of it. It really brings it back for me - especially with the 4k resolution where I can read the gauges and see every nuance. And thanks for not adding any music - just the familiar sounds of pattern work. You made my day!
Nice flying young man, your attitude, your professionalism and your enthusiasm are strong indicatives that one day you will be a great commercial pilot. Keep up the good work. ΚΑΛΗ ΕΠΙΤΥΧΙΑ.
Very well done. Both flight and video. One thing though...Can you please pour the gas back into the tanks after you check for contamination? The Island is way too beautiful to get damaged by fuel spills. Amazing view.
Awesome video dude! Such a long cross-country ! It's always a great challenge to cross great portions of water ! If I were you I would have been very nervous flying that low in a single engine plane that eternal rute ! Well done, keep flying and doing some great videos. Saludos from Santiago de Chile !
Demetri, this is a wonderful video, thank you for sharing. It has been a while since I have been home to Cyprus so it was really nice to see the views. Hoping to do some flying in CY in the near future, so will reach out closer to the time to ask for some advice. Thanks again, really enjoyed that. Safe flying :)
+TheGreatFlyer Thanks for this great video! Beautiful approach over Ialyssos from base to final. Brings back great memories. :-) You adequately handled the situation regarding the plane behind you on final. Good job, great video! Thumbs up.
Not a parachute, I was wearing an uninflated life jacket. It is mandatory to be carrying life jackets when operating more than 50nm or 30 minutes flying time away from shore (EASA part-NCO).
Bravo! A really great video. I admire your professionalism and your love to aviation. I wish i was younger to start a second new career. But i'm only an IT professional and I have plans for a DIY simulator cab like no other... Cheap and realistic. I may need your advise and help in the future...
Great video! The instructor was funny, at some point during final - if my Greek is not rusty - he said "the runway is on the right, let's not have a repetition of what happened in Paphos" - did you land on the taxiway there or something? :P
hey there great video. looks like a fun trip over the pond in a 172! I was wondering what settings you were using on your go pro? the video looks very well exposed both inside and outside the cockpit.
Hello! Nice video of a nice flight! My biggest dream is becoming an airline pilot, do you have any tips from your side? How did you start? Have a nice day, bye!
So many people don't understand what you said about learning in a glider. It teaches you that where the nose is - up or down - controls airspeed. We have a saying here, if you want to make the houses look smaller, pull back on the control yoke. If you want to make them look bigger again, pull back on the control yoke some more. :)
I have subbed to , when i watch your vids every morning it inspires me and its so inspirational ill get up at 6:00am to fly on fsx !! I love your videos man keep it up can you also tell me some tips about becoming an airline pilot this is my dream since 6 and i really really need to save up i also have family to help too btw im 14 :)
A friend of mine started to fly Continental Airlines when he turned 21 years old. He said it last about 3 years and had to find a job that would pay the rent. It seems that older pilots could dump a lower pilot with less hours. They have some thing that if a pilot wants to take a flight he could sign up for it. A more senior pilot could without 3 or so hours come in and get the flight away from him. He was only making like $20K per year before he gave it up.
To get a private pilot's license you are looking about $ 10,000 USD. If you want to get a commercial license, that is a license that will let you carry paying customers you would spend about $ 25,000. This is the price in the US. A lot of things differ in price, that is the type of airplane you are certified in. The larger the more it cost. You will have to have a medical certificate and go each year for continued certification. The people that fly the big commercial airplanes usually come out of the military school flight programs. Their experience and schooling are paid for by the government. Good luck in your choice.
Were you taking your license in this video? Because in the takeoff you lifted the nose way to hard and the landing was a bit harsh and unstable. Or maybe it was just the wind. Either way, if you're only starting that's absolutely fine, but I would expect a bit more from someone who has been flying for a bit.
Great video! Curious though, as to how did you fly the R19 airway while VFR and in a Cessna? Did you have autopilot navigation on, or did you just hand fly it using approximation?
If your vision is corrected to 20/20 then YES, most commercial pilots use corrective lenses at some point. In conclusion, if your vision is corrected to 20/20 you have no problem obtaining a First class medical in the US. Good luck.
Flying around the Europe airspace is different, I've heard! Almost all flights are on a flight plan, even VFR, is that correct? Flights across from Cyprus may need to be on a flight plan at all times due to crossing the Med. Good video! I'm on the same track here is Washington State, testing for Instrument & CPL; just passed my Instrument Ground Instructor exam yesterday!
I agree with you Paul, different countries have different regulations for flight plans in Europe. E.g. An ATC flight plan is mandatory for all flights in Greece while in Sweden it is only mandatory for controlled flights. However, a VFR flight always submits a VFR ATC flight plan. Thus a VFR flight can never be cleared to the destination, only within the current TMA/CTR... The CTR controller in Cyprus cannot know what the situation is in Rodos Diagoras CTR. If you proceed to destination without first calling Rodos Approach and getting clearance that is an airspace intrusion. PS: Congrats on your Ground Instructor exam!
+Dimme's World Thanks for the response! So you are in Sweden? I am 100% Viking Swede! My dad & mother's parents were all immigrants! My son & I hope to come visit when he feels healthier! Maybe next summer! Would love to connect with other pilots! Your responses come into my You Tube email. I am a doctor about to retire & have traveled to Europe many times, but not to Sweden! We live in Western Washington north of Seattle! 😎
Yes, I am in south Sweden (Skåne, check my videos). You are welcome here. If you ever visit reply here and I will make sure we can go up for a flight =) I also get your messages in my emails. The closest I have ever been to Seattle is Vancouver =)

He is definitely Cypriot. He said that (in Greek) arriving at Megara airport which is his final destination. Cypriot speaks Greek but they have a clearly recognizable local accent.
