The Conquest ll can idle at a lower rpm than the Metroliner.Ground idle is 65% on a Conquest and quite a bit higher on a Metro due to the electronic fuel control vs.the manual fuel control. The centrifugal compressor does for sure make a lot of noise at any rpm though and with the power levers pulled back to ground idle and the props being at an almost flat pitch they make a lot of noise compared to a PT-6 but once flying they are not bad at all,and the power they have compared to most PT6's is awesome, one very fun plane to fly!
441's had a very low fuel burn compared to a Pratt&Whitney PT6A series of turbo prop engines.Full fuel and just a couple people onboard you can get from the west coast of the US to the east coast non-stop.The -10 conversion really made this a nice aircraft, but even the -8's were no slouch!
Glad you enjoyed it. Unfortunately, as VH-OXY was preforming a Fly In, Fly Out operation, I wasn't able to get any more footage. If I manage to record another 441, a video will be produced about it!
