We have had our CF Moto Z Force 1000 since June and have traveled 2000 miles. Would we trade it for a CanAm or would we buy another CF Moto? What do we love and what did we break? Links below to all the after market parts that we have installed.

Great video. I have a Z Force 800 EX. I have a little over 700 miles on it and so far I am happy with it, but I wished the air cleaner box had a snorkel where it would get the air from a less dusty area. I have been cleaning the air filter each time I use it when it is very dusty and usually find it very dirty.
@aroundthehomesteadwithsuer3497
@aroundthehomesteadwithsuer3497 3 года назад
In the case of the side by sides the air intake snorkel is right between the seats. I think the issue is when its dusty there is no clean place. What I would likely do if we road in a lot of dust is to move the snorkel up to the underside of the roof and put a really good prefilter on it

Great review! I am really thinking of purchasing a CF Moto Z-Force 800 or 1000 for me and my wife! It sounds like this has been a great purchase and value. I question please......what is your opinion on the air filter? Do you have to clean it often due to the location and dust getting in it easily?
@aroundthehomesteadwithsuer3497
@aroundthehomesteadwithsuer3497 3 года назад
I don't find the air filter as objectionable as some seem to, We ride in a variety of conditions and dusty is one of them. My rule of thumb is if the machine is dusty, or I am dusty the air filter is probably dusty too. We take it apart and blow it out (I know all the info on air filters says not to blow them out but if your careful and know how it isn't an issue) after those types of rides. If all our riding was in very dusty conditions I would redesign the air intake with some really good prefilters but I feel that to be the case of any machine.

Great Video by the way, Do they come with a diesel motor option? Heat and Aircon? Full Doors, suggestions
@aroundthehomesteadwithsuer3497
I don't think there are any diesel options or heat/air from Zforce at this time. You can get the full hard doors on the Utility models but not the Sport. If you are riding in wet cold climates we do 100% recommend the lower doors on the sport. They make a world of difference on how much water and mud ends up splashing on you. The down side is that they are not super easy on/off and they do increase the heat in the summer. You could ride with no doors on hot days but I personally like the sense of security that the door offers on rough terrain.

@aroundthehomesteadwithsuer3497
@aroundthehomesteadwithsuer3497 3 года назад
What I can tell you is our Dodge has an 8ft bed and with the front bumper of the CF Moto against the headboard the rear wheels set right on the joint between the bed and the tailgate. So with a 6.5ft bed the rear wheels would likely be hanging off the tailgate about half way without a riser.

We have not ridden in a RZR but we have ridden in a Can Am and the ride seems about the same. The CF Moto has shocks that have 3 adjustments (Rebound speed, Compression speed and preload) so you can really tune it right in for your liking. We find tire pressure plays a huge role in ride. Mine is a 2019, I dont know the month of manufacturer but was told by my dealer 2019 was the last year of the 1000. Either way I understand the chassis to be all the same so I suspect you would be fine. You could call Super ATV they are very helpful

Very helpful, thank you. You did but didn't address my only question, which is related to towing capabilities. I have a lot of trees around my homestead and am constantly cutting branches and logs. I see that the U model has a much better tow weight, but prefer the design and style of the Z as it seems to be a much more all around machine. Thanks again for the video!
@aroundthehomesteadwithsuer3497
@aroundthehomesteadwithsuer3497 2 года назад
Most any of these be it can am or polaris or the cf moto make a sport model like these that is not really designed for towing a lot. That said the issue I see(We are not ATV mechanics so do your own research as well lol) is the belt and clutches. The belt doesnt like to slip it is bad for everything. So if one had a trailer and used low range and didnt slip the belt at all they would likely be ok but if towing a lot I would certainly look into the U force style or go chat with your dealer

Have you tried it on sand dunes? Or heard about someone using it for duning?
@aroundthehomesteadwithsuer3497
We have not tried it in sand, there's really no dunes close to us that I am aware of. Judging from the terrain that we have had it in vs CanAm, we have yet to find a place they will go that it will not. I would venture a guess that it would perform well since it is a relatively light machine which is generally an advantage in sand.

Don, This was actually the locking mechanism on the side. I did disassemble it and there is a little steel ball in a plastic piece and the silt and dirt filtered into that and was stopping it from unlocking. I suspect if I had sealed the hole up from the beginning it would not have happened. We will see if we like the 4 point harnesses and if not we will buy a new seatbelt and see how it goes. The pool noodles are a great idea thank you for the tip.

My biggest issue with any side by side is the room inside. I'm a bigger guy and despite it having a roll cage and certain side by sides are wider. I still wanna be able to go trail riding. With that being said, would I buy a wider side by side? No, and that 1 thing a lot of side by sides are not big guy or big girl friendly.

I would say its about 2/3 of the way between the 50 inch can and and the 60 inch can am

David, While you are correct Kawasaki is one of the only ones left made in the US, At the time this is all we could find, Matter of fact the shortage is still an issue here in New England its kind of crazy right now how the demand is outstripping production. As a general rule if we can find it and afford it we buy American made for sure.

Steve, We do buy American basically whenever we can, In this case there was not an American made SxS to be had anywhere within driving distance of us. Unfortunately this happens from time to time and it is what it is. We did our research and figured out Polaris and Arctic Cat where the only two models made in the USA. If all things where perfect we would have bought an American made SxS. The same issue is coming up with Work Boots. I can not seem to find a manufacturer in the states anymore. I used to buy Redwing and notice those aren't even made in the states now.

They are not your typical Chinese company. They partner with American companies. They use Elka shocks and CV Tech clutches just to throw some out there. CFMoto has their own R & D department and innovates a lot of their own technology unlike most companies that would rather clone. CFMoto USA headquarters is in Plymouth, MN and has manufacturing in Minneapolis, MN.. Polaris relocated a large portion of its utility and sport vehicle assembly to Mexico. The vast majority of powertrain and vehicles for the off-road line of Polaris are manufactured in the Osceola and Roseau facilities, respectively. That leaves you with Can Am, Arctic Cat, Odes for made in U.S.A. that could be found at many dealers. Can Am isn't cheap and is technically a Canadian company (Bombardier Recreational Products) but does manufacture in the U.S., Switzerland, Australia and Canada. Odes flopped. The man said he traveled far and wide trying to find something else but that was all he could find. Give the man a break. At least he's out having fun and tinkering while he's home. That leaves Japanese. Which i love Japanese products for off road honestly. I'm sure Fukishima caused more problems to this world than covid. The world will move on just fine after covid.
