During Arch Manning's Sugar Bowl interview, Arch specifically stated he and his family are fine with backing up Ewers for another year. I don't understand why some people think this is unusual because it isn't. There are plenty of college QBs that sit out for a couple of years, especially in larger programs.

1:54, Bruce nailed it. I’ll even go a step further, in the state of Texas, 6A is the highest level of competition (Ewers came from a 6A high school). From what I’ve heard Arch Manning’s high school in Louisiana to Texas comparison is the equivalent to a 2A or 3A high school.

He was playing at a lower level high school and needed a lot of time at a better level and I'm sure with his family they realized it. He does not have the pressure to go immediately to the NFL to make money for his family and can take time to develop. Just because someone has talent does not mean they are ready make jumps every single year.

Division III Select in Louisiana is not the juggernaut of high school football. Most of the power programs in the LHSAA are in other divisions. Among that competition, Newman did not do well in the playoffs during his time as a starter. I think they only won 1 or 2 playoff games that Arch started. The year after he left (this past season), Newman went to the state championship game in DIII Select. He needs the 2 years of development to improve. Things couldn't have worked out better for him.

@@wafflepvp5493 It doesn't really matter. The point is that it's a massive jump from Isidore Newman to the University of Texas and it will take some time for him to develop. If you recall, while Peyton made it to the starting job rather fast at Tennessee due to multiple injuries, Eli sat for 2 seasons at Ole Miss before playing.

Arch has a clear path to the field at Texas. Next year he will be QB2 and the last 2 years under Quinn, the QB2 started 2 games, in addition to typical late game snaps of decided games. What is impressive is how much click bait media is out there on this topic. Your clip is probably the first to really look at the whole picture and a balanced picture.

As a Texas fan, we all knew Arch was coming in to sit for a year maybe two, depending on how Ewers played and if he declared. Well Ewers got injured and didn't declare, but the Mannings know the value of sitting out and learning until its your time. They sent him to Texas to get ready for the NFL, not to just start at Texas. Arch will have two or three years(if he chooses) at Texas to put up some stats. Sark is a QB whisperer. Let Ewers get his draft stock up, Manning to continue to learn and Texas to continue to put key weapons around the QB. Texas' future is bright and I hope Arch and the Mannings see it as well. Plus Ewers has been injured the past two years at Texas, so Arch is going to possibly see some of the field in 2024.

As a UT fan I look at it both ways. On one hand I'm glad he is looking big picture and not jumping around in the portal because he's sacred to compete. Sark can really develop and coach the position, and typically, Texas has talent. On the other hand, far too many QBs never start enough games in college. If he plays just one season and jumps pro, it could really backfire. Its not a given obviously, that a QB needs 2 or 3 years to start, but it sure seems to help. Ultimately I feel like that's whats so difficult about the QB position. There are so many examples each way. Joe Burrow, Stroud, kyler Murray, Cam Newton all started 1-2 years and have/had been very good. There's guy's like Trevor Lawrence, Andrew Luck, Jared Goff, DeShaun Watson who started multiple years and were great in college and very good NFLers. Then there's tons of Marcus Mariota, Jameis Winston, Mitchell Trubisky and Johnny Manziel types who start 1-3 years and flame out as pros. I doubt anyone ever figures out the QB position but it seems like patience for a year in college and the NFL, coupled with great coaching and a decent roster is the best bet.

Arch said and has been saying, he knows he not better than Ewers and that having a competitive attitude working with him has made him even better. He’s ok with sitting behind for awhile, especially if it gets him even better and when he dpes fully take the rein’s he’ll be the best QB in the country and their won’t be any questions about his ability to play.

I think this was the plan all along the Manning’s know when you’re draft top 3 95% of the time you’re going to an awful situation. With him only having 1 yr of college tape & a lot of his throws let’s be honest are gonna be easy bc of how stacked Texas is gonna be next year & how good of a playcaller Sark is I actually think it’ll hurt his draft stock & allow him to fall to a better organization…… This is chess not checkers 🤷‍♂️

Rich leading in with, “I’m not looking to stir anything up.” Bruce, an undeniably straight-laced professional, smirks. He knows what Rich is about to say. The same way a fan of the program knows this exact exchange has happened a few times now. Bruce is happy to be on the program, but I’m sure he’d appreciate not having to repeat himself. Anytime UT, or Arch Manning comes up, it’s this over and over. Next question, Rich.

Rich... HE still has 3 more years AFTER this year. Which is the normal amount of years most top athletes do. You're exaggerating this. Being an ATHLETE is not about going to the pros are getting things handed to you the fastest. Its about professionalizing yourself/talent to the point where it takes you TO the pros. Starting them just bc they have a big name and you have a lot of faith in that person does not mean they deserve or SHOULD be out there over other people working the same battle. Arch said treat me like a freshman... let me carry yalls bags... What regular athlete does that? Let alone a famous one? You should not be surprised if you actually paid attention to him and the Mannings and how they carry themselves. They were like this before he even signed to UT. In Arch's debut he kept telling the crowd to be quiet... also after him running for a first down he did a little shy-introverted celebration. Like he is not all of that of what the media trys to make it. He wants to be normal and treated like everyone else. As he said and as it shows. Like the kid (at the time of his first year) was 17 years old and lost his ID 3 times before the season started. Lmfaoooo

He also doesn't turn 19 until April. Allow me to project that he actually works out both for Texas and as an NFL prospect, which is far from a lock. This means even if he is the backup next year, he could start at Texas for three years (which is generally regarded as the preferred number of starting years for qbs coming out) and still be a 23 year old rookie. The same age Eli entered at. It just is not a big deal.

Ewers is not it, I don’t understand the infatuation with that guy, he’s an alright QB he’s not bad but he’s nowhere near NFL ready and I think rn today Arch is better. Ewers is only staying another season because he’d be the 5th or 6th QB taken in this years draft. If Arch truly wants to get better he needs to transfer and actually play, Peyton was technically a 4 year starter at Tennessee and Eli was a 3 year starter at ole miss and look how that worked out for them. It’s not about money or going pro it’s about getting experience and playing time against big time competition.

Hey Rich, he redshirted the first year. So he has 3 years of eligibility after the ‘24 season. He can play as a redshirt sophomore, redshirt junior and a freshman senior. He was NEVER going to play that first year anyway. He is only sitting out one year. Back off. Whenever someone starts with I don’t want to start trouble. They want to start trouble. Ever since he’s chose Texas, you have questioned every move. If he went to Alabama, Georgia or Michigan; the question wouldn’t have ever come out of your ever living Cheating Michigan big mouth. So. Remember, Stewart and Manning were swapping series ( if you have two quarterbacks, you have no quarter backs ). That team was good.
