“Don’t ever let it expire!” There is no better advice. Mine expired 30+ years ago. The effort I’ve expended to prep for my MEI is way more than 15-16 refresher courses would have been. Cheaper too!

Hello Todd, your videos are amazing! Just had a question regarding 61.57(F). It specifically says you do not need to accomplish the one hour of ground but does not talk about the one hour of flight. While 61.197(2)(iii) uses the word or when talking about ground or flight training. Any type of clarification would be greatly appreciated. Again thanks for the awesome content!!

Hi Nelson - I assume that you are talking about 61.56(f) and that you are also referring to 61.197(a)(2)(iii)? If you have completed ANY of the CFI renewal requirements of 61.197, then you need not do the ground portion of the flight review. However, if you are doing a CFI renewal in which you are flying, then just ask the examiner to also give you a flight review when they do your CFI renewal. You can do both at the same time, as long as the logbook reflects that the examiner tested you on CFI stuff as well as Pilot stuff. Does this help? Let me know.
