What Super Mario 64 did for Mario, Sonic Adventure did for Sonic. It brought the series to 3D and was successful. Although many would disagree, those haters don't know what a bad game really is.
Your first two sentences were okay, but personally I disagree, Mario 64 seemed like the devs testing in 3D space and Sonic Adventure was glitchy and bordered by invisible walls. But then you go onto say "those haters don't know what a bad game really is", which is completely fucking ridiculous. Your first sentences are your personal viewpoints, just because other people don't agree doesn't mean that they're haters and don't know what bad games are.
Wahaller I didn't say it was flawless. And personally I could respect their opinion, if they weren't putting down others for liking it. How I said it. They got off easy.
Sega wanted to make a statement with this game and they achieved it. I can imagine they wanted to do everything possible to upstage Super Mario 64 and I'd say they were able to surpass that game as well taking it's rightful seat back in 1st place in the gaming market. I really thought the Dreamcast was here to stay and I was devastated when in only two years production for the system was over and they were only making games moving forward. If only the system would of had DVD features it would of shared the market with the PS2 easily. The Dreamcast was still the best surprise system that the world has ever known. It was like the best kept secret up until it's release and it was a special moment in history. For the first time ever we officially had something at home that surpassed anything that was ever released in the arcades and the Dreamcast was the first to do it and it is for that reason why it will always be special 👍😁😎👌
Wow. That was probably the most positive review of Sonic Adventure I've ever seen. Lol. I think the game is great, albeit with it's problematic moments and some questionable design choices. But overall, I found the game a blast to play through. I still enjoy it to this day, despite it not aging that well. Especially with the Sonic Stages and Adventure Fields.
Sonic Adventure was the very first game that I played on a Dreamcast back in 1998 and it absolutely blew me away. Fast forward 13 years and my Dreamcast is still hooked up to my main TV (it sits atop my 360) and Sonic Adventure still manages to woo me into deleting my save from time to time so I can relive this masterpiece over again. Most games are about challenging you to complete them, but in this title it is not the conclusion that is the goal, it is the Adventure! :D
This game was initially the only reason I bought a Dreamcast, and then everything else I played on it made the Dreamcast my (close) second favorite console of all time. I'm glad I still have it.
@eamodec Not much. The game cube is missing 5 seconds of cut scenes, added rain to jungle stages, improved the emerald, removed all cameos by big the cat, add more multiplayer modes including carts racing, but it lost online play. It also let you hook up you choa garden to the one in sonic advance. Character modles were also improved.
It was down to a) to some people, the game "didn't age well". In 1998, the game was praised because the Dreamcast let it do so many things that older consoles couldn't manage, but nowadays these features are no big deal. b) Critics like giving Sonic games low scores as a rule. c) Sega chose to port the largely inferior DX version, and managed to make it worse than before with inferior control, and didn't even bother to scale up the resolution.
Played it recently. Never bothered to finish BIG after playing with him for an hour. Amy was a chore. Knuckles was disappointing, and the robot was VERY easy. An experience I could've lived without.
Despite how much I love this game, there is no denying that over all it is a mixed bag. While Sonic and Tails were fun to play as, the other characters in the game felt more like a beating. They weren't bad per say, sept for Big, but they lacked polish and made you wanna play as sonic again. Still it's one of the best sonic games out there, though if you can play only one of the Adventure games, Play Adventure 2
If you're going to title videos as for a particular console, please show footage of the version on that console. This is the Xbox 360 version, and it's misleading to say otherwise in the title.
''Finally, a review that doesn't bring up the faults of the game''. There are people like you that don't like to hear opposition and only what they want to hear. We call them Fox News viewers
I hope that when you do the review for Crazy Taxi, you tell the truth about what console your playing it on instead of filing it under "Sega Dreamcast". I thought he would have fixed it after Space Channel 5 part 2.
Well, I beg to disagree. It doesn't hold up very well, despite how fun it is. The huge problem is the glitches. They're everywhere. And even though it is easy to forgive, due to inferior hardware, it still doesn't hold up today. Also, the plot is entertaining, but still pretty weak. I'm not saying it's a huge deal, but they WERE trying to make the storyline a huge deal, and it kinda flopped. Oh, and Big's levels are boring and poorly designed. Still, I love to play it.
I'm not so sure he is. The review is focussed almost entirely on the Sonic levels, which most people agree are pretty good. However, the points you talk about aren't touched upon at all (namely the Big levels, which are extremely poor for multiple reasons, namely that even if they are "relaxing", it shouldn't be a requirement to proceed in the overall game). The reviewer isn't exactly on your side or our side, he's on no ones side. He hasn't stated which side he's on.
So this is a review of a Dreamcast game, eh? Too bad this is Sonic Adventure DX except with "DX" taken off the title and re-released... and very clearly not running on the Dreamcast. It differs significantly in appearance to the actual Dreamcast version because, as I said, it's Sonic Adventure DX in every conceivable way, just with some stuff locked. You're doing it wrong.
It's amazing how much you can change in 7 months. I actually watch Fox News now (I couldn't stand Piers Morgan). You'd be surprised how...well, how fair and balanced Bill o Reilly is.
Again with the poor footage choice. You guys really need to look at other reviewers and learn a little from the footage choice. Showing footage of collecting rings instead of blazing through a stage isn't really appropriate footage for a sonic game. There was also way too much of the chao minigame and pinball talk. And that scene with knuckles at the end... why? Also, you showed yourself playing with a few characters but you didn't talk about it at all. And it's a big aspect of the game.
Great game back in the day but SEGA fucked up big time by giving Sonic a voice! Every single character in every Sonic game is an annoying little bastard.
