Yeah I agree. He is really smart. I hate how everybody thinks he's cocky. It's all entertainment and selling fights. He doesn't think he's the best because he obviously isn't. He even said once that he didn't know if he could beat Jones. He just messes with Le Batard because it's funny.
@Adrian Blair He didn't leave the UFC for Bellator. He retired for 2 years and left the UFC after that; in 2016 Bellator offered him a fight contract, and at his age UFC wasn't going to make him an offer for a contract especially when he had a lengthy run in the UFC. He took the best offer he had at that stage of his career
@Adrian Blair Retiring doesn't mean a synonym for leaving the UFC.UFC keeps a lot of its fighters even after they retire in different roles. Forrest Griffin runs the atheletic performance Division in the performance institute, Chuck Liddell was hired for a while in their offices, Kenny Florian is still part of the UFC , not as a fighter but a analyst, commentator, podcaster. Michael Bisping is a colour commentator, analyst. Rashad Evans too. The UFC doesn't only comprise of fighters. So no, I did not say what you said in a lengthier way. Nice try, wannabe smart guy! And Chael's contract with the UFC wasn't broken until 2016, and Chael retired in 2014. When Coker offered him the contract for Bellator, Chael contacted Dana himself to end the contract so he could sign with Bellator. Chael was even in the testing pool for USADA before he signed with Bellator, which is only possible if he was with the UFC. Wearing a tie and blazer doesn't make you an automatic internet genius , dummy.
@Adrian Blair no it's not correct. The UFC was a legal burden on him. Leaving the UFC for Bellator implies ignoring a contract which allows him to work inside the UFC , but he was let go from commentating and desk jobs in 2014, and there was no offer from UFC for a fight. He was legally hanging by a thread, but that did not let him do any gainful employment. So he chose the only option he had. He contacted Dana for the mere formality of it. Because the fighting contract wasn't offered to him despite the testing pool, due to the huge influx in talent already . Choosing something over something implies there is a choice. The UFC wasn't a choice since it was just a legal cobweb, not an actual employable offer. He never chose Bellator over the UFC. It's what you call a legal deadlock, to avoid your competitors flourishing. Every promoter uses it, Chael was on good terms with Dana so he made an exception. Fight promotion and intricacies aren't taught in a dictionary mr holier-than-thou. Contextual meaning and dictionary definition are two different things. This has many layers of context, something which a dictionary cannot explain
@Adrian Blair you said he left UFC and did Bellator. And that is what I said is incorrect. He was already out since there was no job for him, but legal fine print kept him in unemployment limbo. What you said would have made sense if both events happened in the same year. But that's not the timeline, so no . 2014-2016 the fighter population increased exponentially and PPV draws bigger than Chael emerged, making him needless in the company. That's why they kept him in limbo. To prevent the competition from growing. If you still think you are right, I pity you man. Good luck with whatever job you hold, since basic legal contracts and manipulations don't obviously make sense to you. It's what Dana does on a regular basis, he blocks people from working elsewhere due to fine print while not giving them a job offer and increases the monopoly. Chael is the exception . And win ? This is a RU-vid comment section you loser. Is your ego and professional career that fragile? That you count this as a win? Then fine. Take this a win. You obviously need this more than I do lol
sports and sports talk are all the same on most platforms, Dan and Stugotz have found success because they realize being the same is dumb and tired. Go outside the box and advance your career, you can go find hundreds of Chael Sonnen interview that have non "stupid questions" can you differentiate between any of those videos? not very much, if you do not get this YOU DONT GET THE SHOW!
Man it hurts to see Chael sad over the Silva losses. 😣 It must hurt like hell when both were winnable fights. Especially the first one, the second one was going like the first if not for that stupid backfist Chael did.
