Follow along and see how I make a simple chainsaw file handle. They are great spindle practice in the wood lathe, utilize small bits of wood, and are a great item not only to use, but give away to your firewood gathering friends and loggers.
My favorite tools: Robust AB lathe, Vicmarc Chucks, Thompson Lathe Tools

I'm curious. Do you consider yourself a production turner? It seems you make a wide variety of items -- chain saw handles this week, salt bowls the week before. Yet, you're clearly making these things in large batches. How do you decide how many to make?

I'm a part time turner but approach it more like a trade than hobby. I depend on selling my items so want to maximize what I get done for my time and guess I just have a feel for how much to make based on what I can sell. Check back for my next video on wood spoons. In regard to the file handles, I give most of those to my tree service friends and land clearing contractors which helps with the wood supply!! Thanks for stopping by.

4.51...you don't epoxy it on? A super idea...but if this is for a chainsaw anything, I'd think it'd be a much safer item if left thicker.

I don't epoxy them on or even use CA glue. It sure would not hurt and would cure a loose fit. One small dent with a punch will prevent the ferrule from moving. I like the smaller size but it sure could be larger or even no ferrule at all. Thanks for stopping by.

@@hayesrutherford9415 CA glue isn't really food safe...so that's a god thing...I mean if you were to put a brass collar on kitchen handles. But I never knew that about ferrules.
