do you use the granberg ripping chains or do you make your own 10 degree chains. if you make your own do you cut off half of the top plate to make scratcher teeth like the granberg chains have?

What kind of chain are you running to get those nice chips off the saw? I run 10-degree milling chain, but I get very fine chips (almost like sawdust) from mine. This occurs even when my chain is sharp. Thanks!

Excellent video Blaise, thanks for taking the time to make it. How do you determine where the center of the log is ? By measuring the diameter or just a good estimate ?
@BlaiseBrogan
@BlaiseBrogan 8 лет назад
Thanks v much dude. You can find the centre because of the growth rings on the end of the trunk. Hope that makes sense?
@MatthewSauvage-pc7pf
@MatthewSauvage-pc7pf Год назад
I had a similar doubt but understand from this that the measurement at both ends from the smallest centre growth ring to the same point at each end of the ladder means that your cut is going to be absolutely horizontal, in relation to the grain in the trunk, rather than any other point of reference. Great stuff!

Very nice film! do you use a full comp. chain or a full skip chain?

Good stuff! I like your setup a lot. Do you think a Stihl MS 310 is up to milling 24-28" wide Ponderosa Pine (Soft wood)?
