It's a shame this game lacks a lot of polish and balance that could have made it a true classic. At most it's maintained a small cult status, which deserves for its visuals, sounds and most of all, an incredible atmosphere with few other comparisons among games of the era.
goddamn, i find myself amazed than exist people able to finish this accursed game and you're just ballin' on it killing the bosses without taking a hit...
While they are a very skilled player, I would imagine each of these took quite a few takes. I'm not sure if a lot of Chakan's bosses are even meant to be fought in a straight up / fair sort of way.
I don't know how or where you find all these games for boss rushes, but I certainly like it, because I discovered a lot of hidden jems I'd like to play myself - and all thank to your channel :3
Maybe the roms, there are also videos where they collect all the video games released on these consoles. Not everything is a cartridge, there is emulation
I had a hard time memorizing this game, because I could have sworn, or knew that I seen this before I when I was little. I did watch my Aunt play game when I was little.
Este personaje merece una remake o un homenaje es un juego con una estética oscura y maravillosa. El comic es igual de oscuro. Sin duda The Chakan necesita ser mas conocido. Los arreglos del bajo electrico en el soundtrack es genial.
Please, namco bandai and miyazaki get your hands on the rights to this and make a soulbourne game. The story has written itself and would be putty in your hands to make a masterpiece
This was one of those games with the most anticlimatic ending of the Genesis era, right behind Shadowrun. Except Shadowrun's ending doesn't sit you for 15 minutes.
@@King_Firebrand They were expecting a sequel and trying to connect it to what was happening in the comics, but both the game company and the comic company didn't do too well.
@@l0stndamned That's a shame. Title screen for the game looked fantastic, story sounded like it had potential, only gameplay and visuals are a bit rough imo. But would have been nice to expand the story.
@@King_Firebrand It's actually a LITTLE different than it appears in the video above: Shadow moved a few bits around. You actually see the credits after that "only now may I have my rest eternal" bit... but what's not obvious is that "The mocking laughter of the dark one, Death!" section only appears AFTER the completion of the credits - the game tricks you into thinking it's over, just as it did Chakan. Once that monologue is over, you go into the fight with Death, and what's not mentioned is that you get ONE SHOT to take him out. Fail and you get the worse ending (another single-screen affair where Chakan says "Rest will come another day" or something to that effect, but SUCCEED? Huh boy... Just... look up a video of the 'good' ending and prepare to be amazed at an early example of not counting your sequel chickens before they hatch. "Not the end" my butt...
@@YukaTakeuchiFan Just looked up the endings and yeah, but "good one" is a total joke. Waiting ages for a "not the end" while watching a sand clock... just wow.
The comics were awesome but this game really did give me a headache with the scratchy sounds and bullshit bosses. Kudos the one who could tolerate this game to the end which is something I know I could never do. That ending alone would make me scream curses at the game. If I ever got that far.
They should create a remake of this game, one that has all the good things about it but without its mistakes, maybe even a new game to return to this more well-known character. If they did it could work very well as a Metroidvania or a Soullike
for such an intense action platformer, this game seems unbearably tedious, it's killing the nice fast-paced mechanics this game has and the bgm is really sickening after 2-3 minutes of hearing it repeatedly, making it hard to return to after you finish the game
