I feel like Zendaya did what needed to be done, but what needed to be done wasn't much. I feel like anyone could have played that role, and i still don't find her convincing as an adult even though she technically is. Zendaya is the screen equivalent of Rihanna - who is not a great singer or performer but like Zendaya she has this star quality that makes you want to watch her. The film was enjoyable the two male leads had good chemistry.

Just watched it Saturday and I really liked it, I agree with you on Zendaya I’ve known her since shake it up and the second season of euphoria have been the only project she’s done that surprised me and saw a lot of potential in her acting where as everything else she’s fine or extremely mediocre, for challengers I thought she was really good and I felt this movie helped played at her strengths but I did feel like she didn’t transition from her teenage years to her early 30s years as much as Mike and Josh did, she looked like a 20 something girl trying to dress older than she is, Zendaya is definitely more of a personality actor than a character actor, she needs to do more projects to step up her range bc the light-skin pretty privilege is definitely starting to dominate everything and the overwhelming praises she gets feels like it’s not helping her broader potential and take risk to prove herself
