No. This is not a fitting tribute to one of the best female artist of all time. In fact this is a horrible movie that everyone should just forget about it. You cant even argue that the acting was any good, because the actress did a decent job, but not that good.
I thought it looked bad and sensationalist just from the trailers, maybe not as bad as Marilyn Monroe film looked but similar e.g. Trauma porn with no substance or sense of agency for the protagonist. Plus I really don't like Eddie Marsen anymore since I realised he was a pro-Israeli Zionist.
I don’t think it has Anything to with the Actors/Actresses it has more to do with how its Script. It’s really a good depiction of Amy, it’s like while watching the movie it’s like we never really Get the Change to know who Amy was as a person, it doesn’t even at least show many of her Successes & Accomplishments or her iconic Red carpet looks. The movie didn’t even show her relationship with her Mom or even her own brother Alex, it doesn’t show Anything about Amy’s Childhood who she was as a Child growing up in London with her Friends like she use to sing Battles Sweet n Sour with her Friend Juliette Ashby for Example. The whole movie just Talked about her & Her Ex Husband Blake & her depression & her drug Abuse. It didn’t show her Relationship with Fred Perry or even her Band Members, the whole movie didn’t even at least she her relationship with her god Daughter Dionne.
That’s the first I want too say, the 2nd thing is the Whole movie doesn’t even at least have a Plot or Story line like the more I watch this movie all I see is EVENT, EVENT, EVENT, EVENT, EVENT, it’s like different episodes that aren’t even in order. There is just so many Unfinished Scenes in the movie too the point where it’s like You don’t Really Learn Anything about Amy Winehouse like is the point. And as soon as Blake Breaks up with Amy they Rap it up & just finish the movie like everything is so unfinished there is so many Missing Facts about her that isn’t even put in the movie. The movie itself was just So Lazy & so Mediocre & its so offensive bc Amy was more then some girl falling in love with some guy she more then just an Addict. She was a Beautiful Talented Women that we lost way too soon & she was constantly Misunderstood & being mistreated by people bc of her illness it really sad to me, Amy Didn’t deserve that.
I watched the film last night. What did you think about the actress singing rather than lip syncing? I found the film to be a bit confusing. They only focused on her toxic relationship rather than her personal successes. The acting from the actress was good
I heard it’s a mess but now I feel biopics is now a way to get an Oscar now and not show the true authentic representation of these iconic figures but god pray for the Michael Jackson’s biopic next year
I thought it was good! But biopics tend to get mixed reviews from critics, I’ve been checking out a lot and critics always seem to be harsher on them - it’s been this way for 20+ years at this point so I’m not surprised! 😩
As a Amy Winehouse fan, I just KNEW the fans would be mad at blake or the dad... I thought to myself if the dad has to do with the making of this, which he has every right to, that people would pretend they don't like the idea or that it shouldn't be made. I was right. So now I don't trust anyones review. I didn't like the Whitney film, I didn't see the Elvis film... but this looks nice! I'm looking forward to seeing the sets and the production.
That was great , i lived on camdens doorstep too , and remember it all like it was yesterday.And the loss of Amy is as potent now as it was then. She was raw talent at its finest . A one in billion talent , who ,s legacy will be around forever.
