In this video, Olga Gursky, PhD, Boston University, Boston, MA, discusses challenges in diagnosing light chain (AL) amyloidosis versus transthyretin (ATTR) amyloidosis. Risky organ biopsies are often needed for accuracy, though noninvasive methods like radioactive tracer uptake can be used as an alternative. The role of calcification and amyloid fibril structures in diagnosis are also explored. This interview took place at the XIX International Symposium on Amyloidosis (ISA) in Rochester, MN.
